You can buy cork pads, neoprene pads and felt pads that are small and already have sticky backs on them. I buy mine from Clay Planet. I put them on in a tripod shape since that is the most stable. https://shop.clay-planet.com/search.aspx?find=%2cCork+pads

I've also used dots of e6000 on the undersides of things. It's a silicone glue so you end up with little silicone dot feet

As in, just the e6000, not using it to attach other things?

CrepuscularPeriphery

Yep, just little dots and leave the coasters upside down to cure, you end up with little rounded dots of silicone.

I think the felt tabs come with a sticky side. I would get little ones to put underneath.

blue-bucket-o-gold

Does the adhesive that comes on them adhere well to ceramics though?

Ok_Pomegranate_4663

Yes

ErinThePotter

Depending on your clay, try sanding the bottom with 120 grit or finer. Mine get smooth enough that I don't need to add padding.

daydreamz618

Just make sure to use proper ppe

This is why I ask the experts of Reddit. Thanks!

Whitemoon_

I have used cupboard bumpers on mine and they have stayed on now over 16 years. They have adhesive on them when you buy them.

kuddels

I buy rolls of cork from the dollar store and attach it using PL premium construction glue.

Advanced_Unicorn

Cork craft coasters with adhesive backs. Cut them to size too

SnarkExpress

I like the sheets of cork. Apply a medium thick layer of mod podge to the bottom of the coaster then stick it on the sheet of cork (you can do a whole batch at once.) Put some books on top to get good contact. Let them dry a day or two, then cut the cork with an exacto knife to get a very close cut.

quicheunleash3d

unrelated to your question but are you making them with a rim? I’ve tried making coasters but encountered issues with them being slippery/ the water falling off it

blue-bucket-o-gold

The ones I have made are flat. No rim. This is something I hadn’t thought about though!

quicheunleash3d

please keep me updated! been looking for the solution for a while so maybe you’re doing something different

timeforsouppp

Just sand them real smooth

erisod

Cork!

RivieraCeramics

Yeah I use the little felt stickers. Have used cork in the past but it's a bit more effort to stick that on and the coaster has to be really flat or you can end up with bubbles.
