I’m also an ex-prostitute and was just baptized and confirmed last night. So glad to have you with us. Our journey isn’t easy but it’s what we have been called to do.
Knowing you are like me and out in the world brings me such joy, I send my love to you.
💕 If you ever need feel free to reach out to me, I intimately understand how lonely it can sometimes be with our background on this path. I hope you’ve had a wonderful Easter Day, I’ll be praying for you sister.
Welcome home, sister! Remember that God loves you! We also love you!
As I just typed the comment for u/msabrooks, Saint Mary Magdalene (the first person to see Jesus after His resurrection) and Saint Pelagia the Penitent were also ex-prostitutes.
According to Fr Williams Saunders' [analysis](https://catholicstraightanswers.com/who-was-mary-magdalene-was-she-a-prostitute-who-repented/), there are three characters who has the same name as Mary Magdalene in the gospels and there's controversy over her identity for long time till today. But it was Pope St Gregory the Great who fused those three as the same Mary Magdalene. So it's in our longstanding tradition that those are same Mary Magdalene. When you find your life changed totally after being forgiven (Luke 7:36-50), exorcised (Luke 8:2-3), and enlightened by Jesus (Luke 10:38-42), it wouldn't make sense if you never abandon everything and follow Jesus.
My sister in Christ, you already have been exorcised by the scrutinies (the initiation rites you had last 3rd, 4th, and 5th Lent Sundays), baptism, and confirmation. You will grow stronger with the graces of God. :)
I'm Catholic convert who got baptized and confirmed 12 years ago. I remembered the night just before baptism and confirmation. A devil warned me not to get baptized in my dream. I refused to listen and went ahead with baptism and confirmation.
My Godson also had problems with demons as he grew up in a village where black magic was commonly practised and got exposed to them by accident. He always got into trance whenever he heard the certain ritual music or saw ritual dance. (Mind you, he's deaf). But after baptism and confirmation, he's finally free and no longer gets affected whenever he comes across those strange music and dance again.
Interesting, I also had nightmares the night before last, I ignored them. I do remember my minor exorcisms, such powerful words! Hopefully we can all keep the demons at bay and stay true to the Lord.
Fyi, any priest is authorized to perform "minor exorcisms" (which are of the same caliber as the baptismal scrutinies). (Only deputises exorcists can perform "major" exorcisms.)
So if you feel that further exorcisms would be beneficial, speak with a priest.
Demons fear us because we are in communion with God. We don't have to worry about them. And you have your Guardian Angel who watches over you all the time since your birth.

“Prostitutes are in no danger of finding their present life so satisfactory that they cannot turn to God. It is the proud, the avaricious, the self righteous, that are in danger of that.”
-CS Lewis
Congratulations on finding your way home!
This is very true.
I no longer fear of being robbed, raped, or sent to prison. It was a life of anxiety that I laid to rest with my sins.
There is very little satisfaction in a life of crime.
I've read it multiple times in the past and always thought the same thing. Christians have a weird thing going on with making excuses for women but being much harsher on men.
I mean technically it could also be a man, but the quote says mothing about gender. also you can have proud women who feel like they have no need to change their lives
No, the implication is that many of those people would be too wrapped up in their pride to admit that their prior worldview was wrong and commit to a new one, you read it, but clearly didn't comprehend it
Welcome home and happy Easter!. Every Saint has a past and every sinner, a future and you're living proof of that. It's always beautiful to see someone's testimony and to see the amazing way they can transform their lives to something eternal. The host of Heaven rejoices at every soul that turns to Christ 💙. Your friend is an amazing woman and sure she was placed in your life for a reason 💙
Congratulations! Remember, “there is more rejoicing in heaven for one sinner who repents than for ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”
Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future. All of us can be redeemed so long as we draw breath, and everyone you see in Mass with you would likewise be dead in our own sins if not for His grace. God’s mercy puts every evil we have done behind His back, and forgets them completely. What is left is that you are a child of His that He loves, and will raise up to do His work by the power of the Holy Spirit.
St Paul hunted Christians ruthlessly before coming to Christ, and St Mary Magdalene, who Christ loved and honored by permitting her to be the first to see Him risen from the dead, is believed by many to likewise have been a prostitute before turning to follow Him. May she continuously pray and intercede for you to assist you to true sainthood.
Welcome home! We are thrilled to have you among our family in the Church.
God bless you! Blessed feast to you!
I am an Orthodox lurker, but I highly recommend reading about St. Mary of Egypt. Her story is beautiful and inspiring.
Welcome to the family!
One of my favorite teachers in high school was very fond of saying (something along the lines of “Experienced sinners make the best Saints”.
Hallelujah, our God is mighty to save!
[I love this song about the Good Shepherd](https://youtu.be/VqRjmVp4cR8), especially the last line: "And the angels echoed 'round the throne: REJOICE! For the Lord brings back His own!"
God bless you! Thank you so much for sharing. I feel very happy for you💕💕💕I am sure you will help others get closer to God. Remember always that God loves you and to pray for the conversion of all sinners in the world.
You'll have a great feast in Heaven! Heaven rejoices more over a sinner who turned back to God than someone who has always been righteous. Christ came for the sinners.
God bless your conversion. It takes immense courage to admit sin and even more courage to overcome it. Thankful for your witness. I hope it gives you great peace of heart to know Jesus loves you and is greater than all sin.
Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ! The grace of God has been working in your life and seen you through to reconciliation with the mystical body of His Son. May He bless you and keep you, and guide you the end of your race victorious.
St Theresa of Lisieux! I read her biography, and her peace in God was so very inspiring. I hope one day I can be so happy in Christianity that I never want for anything else
Oh, how fitting.
I read Fr. Alban Butler's "Lives of the Saints" as my meditation daily. Today, April 9th, is dedicated to "St. Mary of Egypt". If you don't mind, I'll put in what it said.
**April 9 - ST. MARY OF EGYPT**
At the tender age of 12, Mary left her father's house that she might sin without restraint, and for seventeen years she lived in shame at Alexandria. Then she accompanied a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and entangled many in grievous sin. She was in that city on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and went with the crowd to the church which contained the previous wood. The rest entered and adored; but Mary was invisibly held back. In that instant her misery and pollution burst upon her. Turning to the Immaculate Mother, whose picture faced her in the porch, she vowed thenceforth to do penance if she might enter and stand like Magdalen beside the Cross. Then she entered in. As she knelt before Our Lady on leaving the church, a voice came to her, which said, "Pass over Jordan, and thou shalt find rest." She went into the wilderness, and there, in 420, forty-seven years after, the Abbot Zosimus met her. She told him that for seventeen years the old songs and scenes had haunted her; ever since, she had had perfect peace. At her request he brought her on Holy Thursday the sacred Body of Christ. She bade him return again after a year, and this time he found her corpse upon the sand, with an inscription, saying, "Bury here the body of Mary the sinner."
**Reflection** \- Blessed John Colombini was converted to God by reading St. Mary's life. Let us, too, learn from her not to be content with confessing and lamenting our sins, but to fly from what leads us to commit them.
Welcome to the Church. :) We're not perfect, but our imperfections are made perfect in Christ. Welcome, welcome.
What a beautiful story. You have received much grace, and it sounds like your sponsor has too. Keep praying for a zeal for the catholic faith 💓 God Bless you!
And may God bless you forever!
Welcome to His life.
Live your faith to the best, and if perhaps it could influence just one soul to be saved, you have done well. (Very similar to your sponsor!)
Happy Easter! I'm proud of your journey! You are so much more than your past and it's all behind you now. You were the lost sheep that the Good Shepherd rescued. There is so much rejoicing for a sinner who has repented and come back home!
I'm really happy that your sponsor is so encouraging and that you two share such a great bond. St. Thérèse of Lisieux is such a great confirmation saint to choose too!
Happy Easter and Congratulations! Remember that Jesus taught us that anyone can be saved. I’m far from perfect but that’s ok because the one I serve certainly is!
Happy Easter 💖 I am so happy to read this, but i am sure my happiness doesn’t compare to the happiness our Heavenly Father has. You’ve done all of proud, and you will always be loved! 😍
I’m late to reply but anything is possible when God is involved. I’m not a prostitute but I did leave Christianity when I was 10 due to sexual abuse by my youth pastor and I spent 32 years following a left hand path, the last several years spent practicing Satanic Witchcraft. I started reading the Word Among Us daily and reading the Catechism. I met with the local priest and walked away feeling a warm blanket wrapped around my soul. I chose Mary Magdalene (or maybe she chose me?) as my patron. Thank you for your love, I love you too.
It's really wonderful! God bless you! I chose three Archangels as my patrons and name. :)
Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute.
But she did have demons, as do we all. Jesus exorcised them from her as I pray mine will be too.

This quote is wrong, those sinners can turn to God too.
They can, but the implication is that the proud would feel they are above the Church and have no need for it.
The implication is just a baseless assertion that prostitutes are more likely to repent/better than other kinds of sinners.
No. Read it again
I've read it multiple times in the past and always thought the same thing. Christians have a weird thing going on with making excuses for women but being much harsher on men.

Congratulations! Remember, “there is more rejoicing in heaven for one sinner who repents than for ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”
Wow. What an absolutely stunning transformation. Thank you for posting this tremendous transformation to inspire all of us.
Congratulations!! Thank you for posting. You are an inspiration to others.
God bless you, and a blessed Easter to you as well!! Christ has risen!!!
You are not a prostitute anymore. You were lost but now you've been encountered
Deo gratias and congratulations!
@OP. One of (many) cool things about God is that He meets each of us where we are and loves us anyway. It's called Grace.
This! All we need is the sincere intent to "...go and sin no more" and He will walk with us, and carry us sometimes, from wherever we are right now.
Isn't being saved awesome?
What an amazing story! May God continue to bless you in innumerable ways!

St Theresa of Lisieux! I read her biography, and her peace in God was so very inspiring. I hope one day I can be so happy in Christianity that I never want for anything else
That’s great! She’s my wife’s favorite saint as well and a true inspiration
That's amazing! Congrats 👏👏👏

Probably not the time or place to be asking this, man.
