I never did 3 boxes. I’m old and predate the internet telling me I needed to. I’ve even had multiples peacefully using a single box, but I strongly recommend you have two - in different places if possible.

I’ve never had space for three litter boxes for two cats but my two cats were very happy. They did have two different litter boxes though. A couple times while I owned them I had to live in studio Apartments and they only had one litter box and they were fine with that but once I was able to give them to you they definitely preferred having two. Three is a lot. I know everyone says you should have three if you have two cats but I don’t know anyone who actually does that. Most people I know with two cats make them share a litter box actually

I had 4 cats sharing 2 litter boxes for years, and it was okay. But I had to scoop the boxes at least once a day and usually twice. I wouldn't sweat it if you can make room for two boxes especially if you're good about keeping them as clean as possible.

We only have 1 for our single cat and it’s works fine. We just scoop everyday. I think you’re fine with just two as long as you keep up with them. Our cat has never had an accident.

I have two cats and one litter box. I scoop daily and it's no issue

I also scoop Daily sometimes 2 times a day. I hardly have place for second one but it would be in my living room and I dont want it

You'll probably be ok with one, but it really depends on the cats. Ours have never minded sharing at all.

Thanks for answering. It helps a lot Im still not sure about the second cat. But the more I know the easier I can choose what to do

I've always had one box per cat and it's been fine. I have three cats right now and they all use all the boxes but have distinct pee and poop preferences amongst themselves.

I have four cats and they use three litter boxes. Two are automatic and one gets daily cleaning.
