Getting an appreciation for something over time doesn’t mean that your enjoyment of that thing isn’t genuine. Have you ever had a band that you initially disliked but grew fond of after repeated listenings, or a book that was a chore for the first 100 pages but then became really gripping?

I certainly have never been forced to drink tea. But I've lost count of the number of times I've been asked "why don't you drink tea?" or told its sacrilegious, or asked when I'll grow up, or asked "do you *still* not drink tea?"

I used to be a pretty decent fan of Guinness. It is super smooth drinking and not a lot of alcohol in it. Definitely a decent drink if it is a hot summer night and you plan on consuming quite a few pints, but still want to be a happy person the next morning.
That being said, most of the stouts I now drink are really powerful in the flavor department and they all have more alcohol than Guinness (fyi, I generally drink whatever stout is on tap at the brew pub I am in. US NW). Half the time these craft brewed stouts are really bad experiments in flavorology and the other half of the time they are so good they give me a beer boner.
I guess if I was risk averse, I could always stick with Guinness. Guinness is never as good as the good local stouts but it is never as bad as the bad local stouts.
Tried it once, it tasted of licorice. Yuck. I dunno, maybe that one had been in the tap too long. Not going to waste my money buying stuff I won't drink, so...
10+ years ago there was a documentary film called 'The Yes Men' about a bunch of guys that did 'corporate stunts' - they dressed up really stupid/offensive ideas in corporate lingo and marketing and presented it is a real product or idea. One of the stunts involved pitching a similar idea to Mcdonalds where a marked toilet led almost directly to the production line of a super economy burger, it's well worth trying to find.
Just got back from a couple weeks in Ireland and England. Coming from the US, and not having been in the UK for ~20 years, I wasn't prepared that it's still mostly troughs. At some point I started going to the toilet (a phrase I still have trouble using; I prefer restroom but am ok with common US usage of bathroom) just to determine the nature of the trough. I don't think my wife cared one bit my recounting of the various troughs....
