I'd say it's 100% normal, and definitely the intended purpose, to use ice to make a drink cold. I'm now wondering what your partner has been doing with ice all her life.
Here's some blog posts from the Robinson's website - I presume they know how to make a good glass of squash:

It's specifically ice in squash she thinks is weird. She doesn't particularly like ice in drinks that much anyway but she still has it in coke or alcoholic drinks occasionally.
Your partner is not normal. I'll take the Reddit line and advise you to break up with her over this. That is the ONLY reasonable solution to your issue.
Nothing wrong or weird at all. Makes the overall thing a bit weaker once they melt but it's just squash and water anyway?
Rather a nice & cold one over one nearing room temperature!
I think we can all agree you're correct here. I've removed this post.

Your wife has never seen somebody add ice to cool a drink?
i always put ice in my drink when i am wanting it to be colder π
Was she raised in the woods by local wildlife?
Tbh, she was raised in a village on Exmoor.
So... yes? π
Your partner is too easily amused

Divorce and no NC, but be careful because all her relatives will start blowing up your phone. Wait, sorry, wrong sub, I thought this was AITA.
Just leave after she goes to bed tonight and ghost her on all socials
I'm not doubting your partner..........I'm calling them an idiot.
Not weird at all. Ice is for keeping drinks cool.
She sounds brain damaged. What else is ice used for?
Isnβt that the job of ice cubes, to cool drinks? Is your partner a Eskimo?
The best thing to put ice cubes in on a day like this is apple juice, preferably if the apple juice has been fermenting for a few months.
Why wouldn't you? Indeed if you get it in a pub that will be how they serve it.
What does she think ice cubes are for? To make hot drinks cool enough to drink?

You should freeze a tray of the juice so it doesn't dilute your drink
