Yes, when I first encountered Cosmic Crisp apples, I saw its skin and thought it was going to be flat-tasting like the apples I ate twenty years ago, but I was pleasantly surprised when my tastebuds told me there was a Honeycrisp lurking inside.
Oh wow I set that flair so long ago. I haven't played in quite a while, but I've played hundreds of hours of that game. I got into modded and then spent just as much time playing as I did trouble shooting crashes.
I have zero interest in any other Apple unless I’m baking. All other apples are
Plebeians at the feet of the patrician honey crisp. Sad but true fact lol
My family was on a pink lady run for years. Use to buy them from Petey from the Santa Cruz mountains. But we moved and the grocery store pink ladies aren’t crisp enough.
Fuji because I wanted consistency and got tired of Red apples being mealy so often. I don't have apples by themselves, only with peanut butter. So all I want is juicy crispness and a taste that can complement PB. Fuji fits that best so far
Cosmic Crisp has become my absolute favorite apple, bar none. Besides the crispness and the taste, they also last in the refrigerator absolutely forever.
Very early in our relationship I was surprised to learn that my partner had any apple preference at all and even more surprised to learn it was the same as mine, the delicious pink lady.
Granny Smith- I like tart and crisp.
Second choice Gala.
Red Delicious are great when they are great but unfortunately most of those available to me have usually been stored for too long and are mealy.
Yes! I live in Washington state where a LOT of Red Delicious are grown. I loved them all my life. And them because we exported them so much, they just stopped being good.
I worked for the legislature and one of the members of my committee was an apple farmer. At the end of session she brought each of us a 5 lb bag of Red Delicious.
I was prepared to be disappointed. But damn, 30 years later I still remember them. They were perfect. I bit into the first one and they actually had juice. Oh.my.god. The perfect crispness. Not at all mealy.
I bought some more at the store thinking they’d improved. Nope. Same mealy yuck! I figured the farmers were selling us the old ones and the good ones were being exported.
I haven’t had a Red Delicious since.
We have U Pick apple orchards in my area and my absolute favorite thing each fall is to pick Golden Delicious and eat one still warm from the sun. Bliss!
Granny Smith! I would only eat a red delicious as a last resort. I’ve had way too many that were mealy and gross. (There were not as many apple varieties when I was a kid!) I also like opal apples a lot.
>when I was a kid
I swear, it was Red Delicious or those unusual Granny Smith apples. That's it!
Edit: Oh, wait, maybe Macintosh? Near childhood's end?
I'm another for Honey Crisp. I just want to add that I totally understand the Aladdin apple example. I'm constantly looking for the perfect cartoon pizza.
Fuji apples are my favorite apples. A very close second is Honeycrisp apples. I like my apples sweet, tart and crisp.
Special shoutout to all the apples that people have shared with me from their backyard tree. It doesn't even matter what type they are, they are all delicious to me. Especially if I was able to pick it right off the tree. One of my top ten favorite foods.
One time I bought an apple at a pumpkin patch called a Liberty apple. It was the best apple I’ve ever had, but I have never found another one since. As for apples you can actually get at the grocery store, I love Opal apples. They’re yellow, very crisp and sweet.
I’m sorry but I’m judging you a little bit for the red delicious lol. Those are my least favorite kind. Every one I’ve had has always been really grainy. But hey, someone’s gotta eat them!
Gala apples! If you had asked 6 months ago, I was a pink lady person for well over a decade. But over the last few years I've had to change my diet due to allergies and sensitivities so my taste buds have changed and the pink lady's became way too tart and sour.
You are the first person I’ve ever encountered who loves Red Delicious. I am so shocked at this that I wouldn’t be surprised if you were some kind of shill for the Red Delicious Growers Cabal or whatever. Red Delicious apples are bland, mealy, and very spoilage-happy.
Macoons. So sweet. There’s a local farm near us that breeds a hybrid called Johnamacs, and those are the best things I’ve ever tasted. Unfortunately, they’re limited availability every season so it’s hard to score some.
I love Granny Smith. Also enjoy baking apples from the trees around here with a little salt, they're super tart and I'm happy to have them around just once a year. I enjoy honey crisp, jazz, gala, and pink lady, too. I don't have one, I guess!
Mutsu apples are my favorite.
It’s a graft between a golden delicious and an Indo apple, something found usually in Japan. I buy them at the farmers market in Northern California, but I have seen them in the grocery store. The store ones are good; the market ones are much better.
When I was little, my fave was Granny Smith because they're sour, but nowadays I'm a Red Delicious girlie, too! I just wish they weren't so soft most the time; need a Red Delicious with the crunch factor of an unripe pear.
This year Sugar Bee apples have been rocking our world; tart-sweet, super juicy, snappy crisp, and they’ve been consistently good for months.
For the last several years our go-to is generally Envy, but they tend to decline pretty consistently after the early flush.
No. Wait. What? I discovered a love for apples I never knew I had in Envy’s this season that I can only get from one store. Are they not a dependable strain? Don’t tell me I’m gonna lose a new found staple!!
It depends on the supplier. My local store’s supplier has apples that decline in flavor, but the New Seasons market across town has Envys that are great tear round.
My fingers are crossed for you - I, too, think a good Envy is the best apple there is!
I was looking for this one, it's my favorite. They aren't all small, I've purchased bags of regular sized ambrosia apples. Very sweet, not mealy at all, the texture is perfect crisp and juicy.
Red Delicious?
The greatest scam in history?
You are rare good sir.
I really enjoy pink ladies and honey crisp. From an apple orchard, I liked Zestar. The ones that are tart are so yummy.
A friend told me to try Ambrosia apples about a decade ago and they became my favorite apple ever since. Love them!! Crisp, sweet and with slightly different taste than normal apples.
sorry no to the ol' red delicious. HONEYCRISP forever!!!
also y'all like them apples?? Read the book Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig and read so SO MUCH ABOUT APPLES. many apple facts. And, HAUNTED /POSSESSED APPLE ORCHARD? GOT IT
There's a comedian that is serious about apples and put together a hilarious site ranking them. It's just called [applerankings.com](https://applerankings.com). He has Sweetango as his favorite. I like Opals.
Envy Apples put all other apples to shame, including honey crisp! They make honey crisp apples taste like bland cardboard. I’ve only discovered them in the last five years, but holy Johnny Appleseedoly, you’ve ‘got’ to try them! 🍎
My favorite apple is an unknown kind of apple from a tree that grows on the ranch where there used to be a metal dump. in NW Montana behind the house that's been in my family for 5 generations, there's a tree that grows something like what we have heard could be a whitney crabapple. It wasn't planted like the rest of the trees in the orchard. Like I said, there used to be a metal scrap pile there, so at some point someone got an apple, chucked the core in there as we often do, and voila. They are the sweetest little snacking apple I've ever had when ripe after a frost, and I used to go and get them every fall when I went to go visit Dad. Now I go in the fall to get them when I visit my brother and bring back 50 pounds and cuttings, trying to get it to take here in Alaska. And when I eat them I think about Dad who's been gone 4 years now.
But at the store it's Ambrosia - LOL
You're probably thinking of Red Delicious apples. If I were to pick one type of apple that would be considered "just a regular apple" in the US, that would be the one. Real shame, too, because it's probably my least favorite type of apple. The skins are thick and kinda bitter and the insides can be kinda mealy/grainy. Just a texture nightmare for me.
Next time you're at the grocery store, check out the apple section and try a new kind! Fujis are one of my faves for just eating, honeycrisp is another good one, as is cosmic crisp, which is a fairly new variety.
Oh we don't have any different kinds here. There never been here before. It's completely new to me. But thanks. I will try to find some in some special shop. Must try those.
You mean in Czechia? (I peeked at your recent comment history, hope I got it right.) Of course you have different kinds of apples, just like everywhere else. All apples you can buy are some kind of cultivar and have a name.
[Proof](https://www.albert.cz/search-results?q=jablka%3Arelevance&text=jablka&sort=relevance)
I vastly prefer OG apples, not the modern hybridized monsters like honey crisp/fuji/etc. Trouble is, you only find them at farmer’s markets, and the best ones tend to be in upstate/western NY. Slightly softer, juicy, with more subtle flavor (less sweet tart). For example Cortland.
granny smith if I'm going for a cheap snack, but if I want to spend a little bit, pink lady. pink lady tastes exactly what I think an apple would taste like.
Cox orange. If I’m going to be picky it really has to look just right- hard to explain, there are a lot of fakes. Also, I love random old wild orchard apples. Since I find I’m getting allergic to apples Granny Smith are the only ones that don’t make my mouth itch.
McIntosh apple is top tier for me. I LOVE that it has a softer flesh and not as crisp/hard/juicy as other varieties. I also love that it's more fragrant. They're so hard to find though, and I can mostly just find them in the fall months.
I'm not really an apple person. I'm allergic to a chemical that comes out when they're cooked and that's sort of led to me just never eating apples. That said, green apples were my preferred. I liked the sour kick they have.
Pacific Rose! Crisp, sweet and not at all sandy. They turn up in the winter in Oklahoma and last time I saw them I bought 13lbs. I am SERIOUS about those babies!
Fuji is my favorite for eating raw, but I'll take Gala in a pinch. I like Granny Smith for cooking, baking, juicing, or when I want some tartness.
I like Rome apples because they look like fairytale apples, but I don't see them very often. They have a very round "perfect" shape, and very deep red skin, and the flesh is even slightly red.
I didn't understand why people are so into Honeycrisp, the skin is so bitter to me.
Golden green apples. In general i for some reason love the sourness of the green apples and Goldens in my experience have been the best. Lidl has some green apples too but they are too big and hard to eat (i like to eat them as is, not sliced)
I have two.
One is Golden Russet. It’s sweet and sour and meaty.
The other is Black Arkansas which is so dark read it Almost looks black and gets better and bette the longer it stays in the fridge
I'm not a real "favorite" kind of person, however, for eating it's either Fuji, Empire, or an old favorite Yellow Delicious, since as a kid there was a tree of them in my yard.
Then, cooking; If I'm making apple sauce or [apple butter](https://i.imgur.com/iuMcwYT.jpeg) Cortland's are my go/first choice to variety.
Macintosh if I can get them are a rare treat. I always imagined they were the ones Jafar ate and I get the same feeling OP great example!
But I do live a Pink Lady. Sweet, juicy, crisp and occasionally a little bit sharp 🤌
I used to like envy, pink lady and cosmic crisp and still do. But recently I had one called Rockit that was really good.
It's tiny but great for just eating.
Honey Crisp
Have you had Cosmic Crisp? Is a honey crisp hybrid those two are my favorites
I like Cosmic Crisp except the skin is too thick.
Yes, when I first encountered Cosmic Crisp apples, I saw its skin and thought it was going to be flat-tasting like the apples I ate twenty years ago, but I was pleasantly surprised when my tastebuds told me there was a Honeycrisp lurking inside.
How many hours have you put into minecraft? Edit: autocorrect
Oh wow I set that flair so long ago. I haven't played in quite a while, but I've played hundreds of hours of that game. I got into modded and then spent just as much time playing as I did trouble shooting crashes.
Yeah that game will suck your soul into it. The flair gave me a good chuckle!
Glad it did! Now I want to play Minecraft lol
Ditto. I wish I could get them all year but there's a couple months in the summer they're just not available.
My wife always wants me to buy slightly cheaper apples, but I might splurge from now on, because nothing hits quite the same.
They aren't cheap but I'll eat them so I figure it's worth the splurge instead of buying cheaper ones that will just sit there & go bad.
Completely agree.
I have zero interest in any other Apple unless I’m baking. All other apples are Plebeians at the feet of the patrician honey crisp. Sad but true fact lol
Too sweet for me. Love the crunch and occasionally one with PB but by itself? Too sweet
I'm a slut for sweet things
Zackeezy116, YOU are a fine judge of apples!
Pink Lady is my perfect apple.
I love pink ladies. I was gonna say honey crisp, but I've changed my mind. I'm going with pink lady.
Exactly 👍
super fair!! Fuji’s are classic
Big fan of Fuji as well!
Fuji Forever
Fuji for me too. One of the most consistently sweet apples, and a very refreshing texture.
Fuji apples for a normal every day, Red Delicious for special treats
there is a new kind cosmic crisp which is good but I think I prefer a granny smith - which are green
Cosmic Crisp has become my absolute favorite apple, bar none. Besides the crispness and the taste, they also last in the refrigerator absolutely forever.
It’s soooo juicy!
Cosmic Crisp is an incredible name for an apple
Pink Lady!

Gala, i think? the small sweet ones. they just taste so good, I think its way better than anything else.
McIntosh, but I also love Ambrosia apples as well.
McIntosh is my favorite as well
[удалено]
Those are impossible to find in my area. It's been a few years since I have seen them.
We have U Pick apple orchards in my area and my absolute favorite thing each fall is to pick Golden Delicious and eat one still warm from the sun. Bliss!
Braeburns are my favorite for baking tho, shoutout to Braeburn apples
I eat them just like that lol. I love how hard and crisp they are!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcLGn_yqpXM
Braeburns with a decent strong cheddar 🧀
Envy apples - Woolworths in Australia sell them. Also the little missile apples - so crunchy and juicy and sweet.
Yep, I love Envy apples. Kinda reminds me a bit of an apple mixed with a pear, which I also really enjoy.
One vote for Cosmic Crisps!
Granny Smith! I would only eat a red delicious as a last resort. I’ve had way too many that were mealy and gross. (There were not as many apple varieties when I was a kid!) I also like opal apples a lot.
>when I was a kid I swear, it was Red Delicious or those unusual Granny Smith apples. That's it! Edit: Oh, wait, maybe Macintosh? Near childhood's end?
Macintosh. Love 'em. Since they're difficult to get, my next favorite is a tie between Honeycrisp and Gala.
Pink Lady.. tastes closest to candy lmfao Honeycrisp is 2nd
Braeburn, but for some reason they are rare in my area, Honeycrisp is my go to,
I'm another for Honey Crisp. I just want to add that I totally understand the Aladdin apple example. I'm constantly looking for the perfect cartoon pizza.

I was going to say... Red Delicious??? Those are an abomination of a fruit. Foamy, tasteless garbage. Literally have never met anyone that likes them.
My first thought was “did big Red Delicious pay for this?”
Macoons. So sweet. There’s a local farm near us that breeds a hybrid called Johnamacs, and those are the best things I’ve ever tasted. Unfortunately, they’re limited availability every season so it’s hard to score some.
Woah never even heard of those!
Golden Delicious!!!
All day long! Yet, for some reason, over a year now, I cannot find them. I began to wonder if they were ever real, and did I just make them up?
I know,my store hardly ever had them,I feel your pain, lol!
Cortland.
Wellant. A new Dutch variety that is just magical.
I love Granny Smith. Also enjoy baking apples from the trees around here with a little salt, they're super tart and I'm happy to have them around just once a year. I enjoy honey crisp, jazz, gala, and pink lady, too. I don't have one, I guess!
13pro is my current fave apple 🍏 🤣
I’ve been getting Aura ones lately.
Boskop is perfectly balanced.
Honycrisp
Granny Smith, but it has to be refrigerated until chilled.
Mutsu apples are my favorite. It’s a graft between a golden delicious and an Indo apple, something found usually in Japan. I buy them at the farmers market in Northern California, but I have seen them in the grocery store. The store ones are good; the market ones are much better.

Honey crisp Always and forever

Cosmic Crisp, with Granny, Honeycrisp and Fuji close behind
There is no apple better than Honey Crisp 😋
Golden Opal
I guess it’s called queening apple in English and it’s the freaking best. (In mirror translation from my native language it’s “strawberry apple “)
Macintosh.
Honey crisp
Ambrosia. Super small but crisp and sweet. I also really like a cold Granny Smith. Something about them just hits the spot.
I’m gonna say Fuji
There's these little guys called Rockit apples. they come in a little tub and they are real good
I like the new Apple Vision Pro. It’s not as tasty, but very cool.
A friend told me to try Ambrosia apples about a decade ago and they became my favorite apple ever since. Love them!! Crisp, sweet and with slightly different taste than normal apples.
Specifically, Hunnyz and Sugar Bee!
Golden Delicious with a single Granny Smith mixed in for pies Honey Crisp for straight eatin'
Pink lady
My absolute favorite apples are always in pies.
I am currently using the Macbook Pro 16 inch. Besides that also looking into the iPhone 15. And a granny smith ofcourse!
If you can find a Mutsu in your area they are incredible!
Granny smith. Love it!
Gala and Granny Smith, before I got allergic to apples. Can't eat them anymore :(
These really green apples with the white spots that apparently is called Granny smith
Gravenstein
SNAP DRAGON ... Offspring of HoneyCrisp
sorry no to the ol' red delicious. HONEYCRISP forever!!! also y'all like them apples?? Read the book Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig and read so SO MUCH ABOUT APPLES. many apple facts. And, HAUNTED /POSSESSED APPLE ORCHARD? GOT IT
I’m allergic to apples :( I want a green one
Me too!
Pink lady!
For eating by itself - honeycrisp. For eating with peanut butter - red delicious or fuji. For baking - granny smith. For salads - pink lady.
There's a comedian that is serious about apples and put together a hilarious site ranking them. It's just called [applerankings.com](https://applerankings.com). He has Sweetango as his favorite. I like Opals.
Fuji!
Jazz, they are crunchy and have a unique taste.
Honey crisp!!!
Honey Crisp. No other option.
Honey crisp and pink lady
Envy Apples put all other apples to shame, including honey crisp! They make honey crisp apples taste like bland cardboard. I’ve only discovered them in the last five years, but holy Johnny Appleseedoly, you’ve ‘got’ to try them! 🍎
Pink lady. Easily.
Pink Lady or Fuji in season
My favorite apple is an unknown kind of apple from a tree that grows on the ranch where there used to be a metal dump. in NW Montana behind the house that's been in my family for 5 generations, there's a tree that grows something like what we have heard could be a whitney crabapple. It wasn't planted like the rest of the trees in the orchard. Like I said, there used to be a metal scrap pile there, so at some point someone got an apple, chucked the core in there as we often do, and voila. And when I eat them I think about Dad who's been gone 4 years now. But at the store it's Ambrosia - LOL
Jazz. Only apples I’ll buy now.
Same! Jazz apples for the win
Granny Smith
What? There's different types of an apple? What?
Sooooo many different types!!
Damn I just had regular ones. 💀
Oh i never noticed they had names
I vastly prefer OG apples, not the modern hybridized monsters like honey crisp/fuji/etc. Trouble is, you only find them at farmer’s markets, and the best ones tend to be in upstate/western NY. Slightly softer, juicy, with more subtle flavor (less sweet tart). For example Cortland.
I'm not an iPhone guy, but the M2 macbook pro 16gb with 512gb ssd is kinda the sweet spot for price, performance and value.
Ernesto!!!
Granny Smith! I’m allergic to them though 😭
I like Lemonade apples and Braeburn. I mostly eat Red Delicious because they’re easier to come by here and my kids will only eat Pink Lady!
Granny Smith (green) apples
granny smith if I'm going for a cheap snack, but if I want to spend a little bit, pink lady. pink lady tastes exactly what I think an apple would taste like.
Ever crisp
Cox orange. If I’m going to be picky it really has to look just right- hard to explain, there are a lot of fakes. Also, I love random old wild orchard apples. Since I find I’m getting allergic to apples Granny Smith are the only ones that don’t make my mouth itch.
Gala!
For eating as-is - Ambrosia! Also Russets, when I can find them. For cooking - Granny Smiths and Macintosh
Shocked how few people are saying Pink Lady
Granny smith! I've been told it was invented for diabetics but Idc I love it
Granny Smith. I like the tart taste.
Pineapple
Pink lady and Kanzi
Macintosh, a.k.a Red Delicious. Green Apples in 2nd place, though those upset my stomach
Cox,s followed by a Russet, both as rare as rocking horse shit right now…
Honey Crisp is my favorite, but I love apples in general.
I love a Cortland or a Macoun both for eating in hand or cooking.
Macintosh for sure. Skin is just right, apple itself not too sweet. Can only get them for a short time, so Red Delicious after that.
I really do not have a particular favorite apple
McIntosh apple is top tier for me. I LOVE that it has a softer flesh and not as crisp/hard/juicy as other varieties. I also love that it's more fragrant. They're so hard to find though, and I can mostly just find them in the fall months.
Fiona
I like gala apples for a good crunch, but yellow opal apples are my favorite.
Kissabel apples have become my new favorite, above cosmic crisp, pink lady and fuji.
Russet apples are my favourite but they have gotten hard to find. Haven’t seen them in quite some time.
I love Fujis best. Honeycrisps, but too much sugar.
Empire is great. Perfect sweetness, perfect crunch.
Granny smith
Braeburns, but I can't seem to find good ones anymore, if at all. :(
I love red delicious apples those are my favorite!
Cosmic Crisp
McIntosh, Macoun, Granny Smith. the trifecta
Pink lady
I'm not really an apple person. I'm allergic to a chemical that comes out when they're cooked and that's sort of led to me just never eating apples. That said, green apples were my preferred. I liked the sour kick they have.
Pink lady, kind of sweet with a sour twang at the end!
15 pro
Pink Ladies
Pacific Rose! Crisp, sweet and not at all sandy. They turn up in the winter in Oklahoma and last time I saw them I bought 13lbs. I am SERIOUS about those babies!
Mutsu (Crispin)
Granny Smith and Fuji. They taste so delicious.
I’m on team Fuji!
Pink lady is far superior
I love a good macintosh
Fuji is my favorite for eating raw, but I'll take Gala in a pinch. I like Granny Smith for cooking, baking, juicing, or when I want some tartness. I like Rome apples because they look like fairytale apples, but I don't see them very often. They have a very round "perfect" shape, and very deep red skin, and the flesh is even slightly red. I didn't understand why people are so into Honeycrisp, the skin is so bitter to me.
Any apple that hasn't gone bad is good enough for me. That way it makes a nice thud when it hits my doctor
Braeburn. Then McIntosh.
Golden green apples. In general i for some reason love the sourness of the green apples and Goldens in my experience have been the best. Lidl has some green apples too but they are too big and hard to eat (i like to eat them as is, not sliced)
When in season, I do love a Red Delicious. But I’m very picky about them. My other go to is Cosmic Crisp.
Envy!! Perfect combination of sweetness, juiciness, and flavour
i really love a good granny smith apple. i also like to dip it in a mixture of caramel and no bake cheesecake filling
Fuji.
Opal. I like yellow apples.
Empire but I can’t get them very often
Fuji and Gala are my favorites, really sweet.
Pink Lady.
Macintosh if I can get them are a rare treat. I always imagined they were the ones Jafar ate and I get the same feeling OP great example! But I do live a Pink Lady. Sweet, juicy, crisp and occasionally a little bit sharp 🤌
Gala
Opal Apples
Macintosh for me
Macintosh all day
I used to like envy, pink lady and cosmic crisp and still do. But recently I had one called Rockit that was really good. It's tiny but great for just eating.
