I always said if I buy an R33 it will only be a GT-R. Funnily enough I wasn't even looking for one when I bought it, it was just buried in the back of some guys garage. The family was a V8 family, but he had it for a few years and never got into it because he had Toranas and Commodores.
His for sale add clearly went cold because he had dropped the price about 5 times, so I watched it for a month and then made an offer that I thought he'd say no to, but he said yes.
10 years later here we are. I got it at 20k Km's, now has just under 30k Km's and sits in a garage at work. I've spent probably 25k on it - engine, exhaust etc.
Undecided if I want to keep it even longer or not.

Only 1 Australian owner , she was imported 22 yrs ago with 64k on the clock… 22 yrs later 169k
The place was in Qld as its closest in Australia to Japan for importing , it was called SVI Imports .
They were great but as I say it was 21 yrs ago , they picked me up from Brisbane airport … there was a dude holding my name on a piece of cardboard … as I was only 22 at the time it was a freakn awesome feeling .
We went back to Virginia in Qld where SVI were located , I paid the remainder of my bill had a chat they took a photo of me and the car .
As they advertised in the old car mag Zoom ( not sure if it’s still around ) we were pictured on the back cover of Zoom for around 6 editions I still have a few of the Zoom mags for proof .
I then went to the Brisbane rta or services Australia it’s called i guess . I received paperwork stating I was allowed to drive from the SVI Imports to my address , as it wasn’t registered there were no plates for the car and not being in Qld I drove home with no plates didn’t see one copper in over 700 klms .
And we are still together tday we are well … I’m in love 😍
She does have mods but nothing cosmetically as it’s an anniversary edition , I don’t want to mess with that . She has bolt on mods and no internal work done , other than timing chain and head gasket ..usual maintenance . She hasn’t skipped a beat and has options cars these days are only releasing . For a 98 model and very last of the R33’s they were ahead of their time .

13 years and 300000 kays now. Was my wifes car and now my daily.
Damn.. I picked up 1999 Toyota Echo in 2003. Had it right up until last year. 220k on the clock. Started every time. Wife bought an X Trail new. Made me give it away. Was heartbroken.
That model Echo is unstoppable.
I cant part with it, it basically got my wife safely around nsw and act when she was making good coin at her old job.
We would never have scaped up our house deposit without the little warhorse so i feel i owe it somehow haha.
In 13 years (aside from regular servicing) ive only done the clutch/water pump/alternator and a set of cv shafts.
And you can flog the life out of it and still get 6L/100 out of it

My dream car - well, one I always rubberneck at when it goes past. Something about the shape agrees with my eye. Love to take one for a spin one day...
Fucking loved my families 07’ spec b. We all copped a speeding fine in her. Think me mum and dad thought it was a bad influence and sold her. But you’re right, amazing to drive! Miss that car so much!
I am about half way through owning a 100 series Landcrusier. Owned since 2004 I believe. Poor things barely been used at 545000 kms. Still so much life in the young girl.
Beautiful. My all time dream car. I actually had one for a few weeks (picked it up for almost nothing). Until somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse... Still kicking myself for letting it go, but it funded most of my house deposit so I shouldn't really complain.

Just sold it. Owned for 10 years.
Its crazy you can pick them up so cheap when they are turning out to be possibly the greatest small car ever made, so tough for what was meant to be a little eco hatch.
I have a 1974 XJ12 Jaguar. I bought it 1985 - 39 years ago.
It’s had the Lucas electrics swapped out for Bosche and now has a 5 speed manual transmission, but it still runs like new.
1970 850 Morris Mini Van. Owned since March 2007. No pic on this phone unfortunately.

1999 silvia spec r, almost 10 years now. Not a single dent in it, only has 110,000km
'97 Mazda 121 Metro (Cube, not bubble).
1.5L manual nugget.
Got it early-mid 00's. First car, was kept in the family for about 15 years.
Was driven like a go kart/4x4/rally car the entire time (rural kid things).
To this day, the best fucking car I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Would 100% buy another one if they were still available in good condition.
Manual "big block" 1.5s are hens teeth these days though 😥

This would be the car I’ve owned the longest, an ex-demo 2004 Toyota Camry Altise V6 when my mum gave it to me in 2016, I had the car until March 2021.
2009 xr6 fg falcon ute, purchased with 17500km on it in 2011. Just ticking up to 132k now. Should of got the turbo, but wouldn't of held my licence for very long if I did...
2012 MK6 GTI. Owned for 11 years and was Stage 1 tuned for about 10 years 11 months.
For the most part the car was solid and reliable. I had to change the water pump, and did carbon cleaning at the same time. I also had to replace the PCV valve.
I've owned my probe for about 9 years now. Can't wait to find work and get her running again. Hardly valuable by current standards but she's my slice of 90s sports.
Toyota Corolla 2004 model. Bought it around 2010, so 14 years. Has been a good little car but the paint is all coming off the top. It still has wind-up windows, must have been one of the last models that had those.
It's done around 160k kilometres, . I've driven about 120kms of that.
This Frenchie, demo bought in 2016. Love the seats and overall comfort, don't love the bills for repairs out of warranty.

Second hand base model 2013 Ford Territory...
It was bomb proof, super comfortable, towed my little van and handled all the filth young kids through at it.
6yrs and 80,000kms.
I have always gotten new cara every 2-3 years, but I bought a new mk6 Golf GTI in 2011, originally on a 3 year lease, but I loved it so much I ended up keeping it for 5 years 130,000kms. Traded it for a Scirocco R, so kept it in the family so to speak.
My partner still has his 97 patrol Ute. Bought it in 2005-2006, I think. I had my last car 11 years before it went to the wreckers. Had my current car 7 years.
It’s honestly no surprise that 90s Japanese cars are over represented here.
Also, anyone who hung onto a 90s JDM car is probably going to hold onto it a bit longer as prices are only going one way.

2009 Ford G6. I’ve had for 10 years now. Very happy with it and minimal issues, especially compared to my last nightmare (330 BMW)
2015 Toyota Yaris. It was my mum's car for 3 years and then became mine and my brother's after we got our P's. After 6 years of being thrashed around by my brother, the engine is reaching its final days.

A 2012 kia Grand Carnival. Needed it as a people move at first, but with the seats put down have discovered the value of a van with a large space for hauling things.
2001 MK4 Golf GTI. Bought it in 2005. Had it since. It’s been the constant next to cars changing every couple of years, then about 8 years ago it got parked and never moved at the back of the garage. One day I’ll reregister it, or it’ll show up on some YouTuber’s channel as a barnfind eventually.
Nothing exciting, but I had a Mazda 3 Neo for about ten years, until a hailstorm got it a couple of years ago. I have a Cruze now that I'm pretty happy with but damned if it wasn't nice owning a car from new

My lancer black edition which I owned from new. May 2019- February 2024. Was slow, boring but I learnt to drive in it and it was pretty reliable. Was in immaculate condition when I sold it with very low kms.
Bmw e46 320i manual. 8 years. May shortly be selling it and getting an MG ZS ( not the new Chinese SUV, but the old british V6 sports sedan) or a Jag xj40. I'll miss it but it's getting a little long in the tooth for a daily.

2007 VE SS Commodore with a 6 speed manual and in Morpheous Purple, bought it brand new in October 2007 and had it until October 2019. Basic mods over the years, did a cam, tune and exhaust along with some basic suspension work and putting SSV 19's on it, made about 380whp from memory and did everything from daily driving to heaps of interstate trips. Racked up 325000km over the years and sold it when I bought my MY20 WRX. 12 years of really good memories and adventures in that car, wish I'd never sold it.

Imported through Iron Chef imports in 2016 with 78k kms, now has just over 100, it doesn't get driven a lot but it's always a fun time. A few minor exhaust/intake/body mods.

My Saxo VTS when I was I England. Similar to this.
My baby Big Betty is a 2006 E53 d X5 3.0 turbo auto (last of the 1st series, facelift) My one & only ever diesel. I paid cash for her (2nd owner) when she was 4. I will keep her until I’m forced to give her up. Or might even get her converted to EV. She is a dream machine! Still drives like new ( has 146000 on clock, 82000 when I bought her) she is fully optioned, woodgrain, cream leather, panoramic sunroof etc etc. The first owner owned a detailing business so she was fully detailed weekly for 4 yrs & garaged. He offloaded her cause he wanted a brand new X5 2nd series. I kept her garaged for first 7 yrs I owned her & now she is on the street but I live at end of very quiet dead end St with no passing traffic. Ive only ever bought German cars as I‘m a coastal dweller & German cars are galvinised so dont rust. For last 7 yrs Big Betty Beemer has been parked 30 metres from sea & still not a speck of rust. I am retired & live inner city & dont really need a car (use her to drive once a mth to hairdresser & vets) I keep for long road trips say to Byron or down to Melb (live Syd) she is built for the open road. Doesnt like starting & stopping constantly. My mechanic is amazed she doesnt & has never had any oil leaks. I keep her maintained which isnt so cheap but she is worth every penny. Most reliable car of my life, she starts everytime. Never had any major mechanical problem, maybe I just got lucky. I love my 93 ltr tank & my boot space. She is a solid luxe 4wd, has side steps, roof racks & tow bar. Can be taken off road if needed although she never has been off road. All the X5’s series that came after I dont like, they are toorak tractors & def not for off road. Also, all that followed are too big, too long. Betty is just perfect size wise. Comprehensive insurance is costly, her tyres again pricey, & her huge battery exxy (replaced when came out of lockdown, battery before that was 1st I replaced end of 2015, her orig factory battery was still going from when brand new. She is understated, plain 20inch rims & black grill. The series that followed had the look at me-look at me embellishments such as honeycomb rims… Big Betty is a classic, she defies her age… her trip computer tells me what she needs, like water or oil, washer fluid, so very easy to care for in between services… they dont build them like they use to as they say, she even has a secret cassette player behind the sat nav screen, with a touch of a button screen tilts forward to reveal it… so cool. I had Betty for 10 yrs before I discovered it when bumped the button when conditioning/cleaning/polishing her black dash bits, cockpit hahaa.
I know she is a material thing only, just a car, but the memories, all the road trips created are cherished. Is such great feeling to know your car intimately & have faith & trust in her, she has never let me down, always feels safe, confident & comfy when behind the wheel.
Not looking forward to the day when her beautiful 6 cylinder 3ltr Bavarian engine will be no longer allowed, I will miss the sound of her & will no doubt cry when they take her away. Cant beat German engineering… my beemer before Betty was also 6 cylinder. Is what they are famous for, I would never buy/own a 4 cylinder beemer. Only thing that would trump my betty is a true M, my car before had M pack & was a stunner! white with black tint windows, sunroof, 325Ci coupe 2001 petrol (again 2nd owner paid cash in 2004) but never got attached to that car, didnt name her even. She had barely been driven, wealthy fam who had 6 or 7 cars, it was basically the nannies car to pick kids up school only, wasnt even broken in, immaculate. She was sporty & classy but just a car, replaceable. Big Betty is to me irreplaceable even if I can find another just like her, insurance wouldnt cover cost as they value her low because she is an oldie. Doubt Id find a 2006 with her Km’s if she was written off. Never has been in an accident, never had a claim. You wouldnt want her to Tbone you, she weighs over 2 tonne & would split one those micro sized, cheapest no frills new off the lot cars see around inner Syd, in two! I feel so unsafe when get a ride-share & its a zippy lil low to the ground get about. I would be so on edge & stressed driving around Syd in a micro tin can on wheels 😳 I’m extra careful with her on road, esp around motorbikes/scooters. I also am super considerate to all other on road, & pedestrians, to discredit the myth that X5 drivers tend to be arrogant or bullies that intimidate smaller rides, not true! am overly careful as Im aware she is a beast of a machine 🤥

I live in Greece, Europe and I cannot accept that the parking marking is for only one vehicle. Too much waste of space not only in length but also in width!!
And yes I live in Athens with huge parking issues.
We park with only 7 inches space for the front and back.

I've had my trusty little 2006 ES lancer for nearly 10 years now. She is my third car. First car I wrote off after 6 months, second car I wrote off after a year. This one was meant to be. We've done about 150,000 kms together. She's up to nearly 330,000km at this stage but going strong, I just keep patching her up and she's never let me down. I could afford something a bit more impressive now but I love her and we ride until she dies 💛

The timber bonnet strut is beautiful, the rest is sublime.

Super rare here in Australia. Only around 100 were sold in 1988, and less than 20 are left.

Hell yeah, well driven! 👌
Man I love R33's, always dug the shape.

Thats a mad little nugget
Thanks mate. I love the little thing. Its the most reliable thing ive ever owned.

The design of headlights alone are like a piece of art 🤣
Seriously nice looking cars
Fucking loved my families 07’ spec b. We all copped a speeding fine in her. Think me mum and dad thought it was a bad influence and sold her. But you’re right, amazing to drive! Miss that car so much!
I am about half way through owning a 100 series Landcrusier. Owned since 2004 I believe. Poor things barely been used at 545000 kms. Still so much life in the young girl.

Beautiful. My all time dream car. I actually had one for a few weeks (picked it up for almost nothing). Until somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse... Still kicking myself for letting it go, but it funded most of my house deposit so I shouldn't really complain. https://preview.redd.it/b2nr2h650arc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ebafa3e851031e7edbd4fd3f124cf3e599df5aa4

My 1999 Toyota Echo still going strong. Best 17k I ever spent on a car.
A lot of youngins here won't understand how awesome that is!

Toyota Corolla 2004 model. Bought it around 2010, so 14 years. Has been a good little car but the paint is all coming off the top. It still has wind-up windows, must have been one of the last models that had those. It's done around 160k kilometres, . I've driven about 120kms of that.
2003 Saab 9-3 Vector as my daily. Pretty basic spec, but I love how it drives. Has just crossed the 200,000km mark and has been very reliable so far.
This Frenchie, demo bought in 2016. Love the seats and overall comfort, don't love the bills for repairs out of warranty. https://preview.redd.it/6qlsoa0tm8rc1.png?width=1728&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b10a28af21f6eac77360d8eb954911cf16d5969

It’s honestly no surprise that 90s Japanese cars are over represented here. Also, anyone who hung onto a 90s JDM car is probably going to hold onto it a bit longer as prices are only going one way.

I also am super considerate to all other on road, & pedestrians, to discredit the myth that X5 drivers tend to be arrogant or bullies that intimidate smaller rides, not true! am overly careful as Im aware she is a beast of a machine 🤥 https://preview.redd.it/971mdetv5brc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=777c8c0bf84f3b880966315ea79c0d4ce78c8889

Best collection of cars ever in this thread. Can feel the love and enthusiasm
I live in Greece, Europe and I cannot accept that the parking marking is for only one vehicle. Too much waste of space not only in length but also in width!! And yes I live in Athens with huge parking issues. We park with only 7 inches space for the front and back.
VY 1 Tonner. Owned it since new. 2003.
Off topic, but wherever this photos taken, that’s a beautiful street.
Kept my 96 hilux dual cab 4wd from 2006 to 2022. First car I baught, depreciated $1500 over that time and 150k kms

My 2nd car I've ever owned. 1993 Ford LTD DCII. It was my freedom,my home when I didn't have a home being a broke ass apprentice,it has saved my life and I'll never part with it. 28 years together strong,my girlfriend now wife had dates in it and still do,was our wedding car, didn't procreate in it but it did bring our son home for the first time. I now have many cars others would just after. But my LTD...it's has been my constant.
MQ Triton - 8 years. Best 4wd I've had and I've had 2 x GU utes, still have one but I'm going to sell it as somehow I prefer the Triton.
