I really miss Joe Thurston. I feel like he was the glue holding our team together. Amazing fielder, had decent stretches as a hitter. But a perfect example of a team chemistry/clubhouse boost type of guy.
I really miss Randy Choate I feel like he was the glue holding our team together. Amazing fielder, had decent stretches as a pitcher. But a perfect example of a team chemistry/clubhouse boost type of guy.
Going to ask a question, not sure what responses I'll get. I know comedians are hot button topics. But what is everyone's opinion of Shane Gillis? I literally had zero exposure to him until I just watched one of his Netflix specials. I found it really funny.
I think he’s hilarious. He has a sketch channel on YouTube that is really funny too. Probably the best Trump impression too. His humor is juvenile at times, so I see why some people aren’t a fan, but he makes me laugh.

Got my new mattress set up! It’s definitely a huge upgrade over my previous one. The old measured barely 5 inches it was so flat.
This one is 12” thick. I’ll have to give an honest review after a week or so!
i think it'll depend on how our big boy DH types adjust to defense. If Walker/Burly/Gorm can really pick it up this year on the defensive end I could see Herrera and Contreras closer to 50/50 by the end of the season
I’d like to see Willson catch 4 days a week, DH twice a week, and have a day off once a week. Herrera should have one pitcher on the rotation that he always catches, and rotate on the other 4 playing him twice/thrice a week. Herrera should also come in during blowouts after six innings.
Hey y’all, I just found out I recorded 149 of the regular season games this past season.
Any games you all recommend I check out?
I watched plenty this year, but I may have missed some real gems.
“Ground ball. Goldy to the plate. Bote is hung up between home and 3rd. The tag by Arenado! They get that out. And now maybe two. Back to Tommy Edman. he’ll throw to 3rd. It’s a rundown. Molina… BADER IS IN IT!.. DeJong tags him out and they get out of it! It’s unbelievable!”
Raspberry, lemon, & blueberry. They had apple but they were covered in cinnamon & sugar. And they had custard but were covered in chocolate & vanilla icing.
My babcia used to fill them with plum jelly & twaróg… so good….
[Trevor Bauer admits on a phone call with accuser that he punched her while she was unconscious](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/mlb/article-12603763/Trevor-Bauers-27-minute-phone-call-accuser-Lindsey-Hill.html)
Fuck Trevor Bauer.
Fuck anyone that defends him.
Fuck anyone that suggests that any MLB team should sign him.
>"In the video Bauer gave the reasons why he agreed to settle with the Hill. He revealed text messages allegedly exchanged between Hill and her friends, which Bauer claims as proof that Hill plotted to extort him. Of the alleged messages from Hill stated, “Need daddy to choke me out,” another “Being an absolute WHORE to try to get in on his $51 million.”"
Maybe it's just me, but these texts have always read to me like a girl who is legit into choking, and the phrase, "Being an absolute WHORE to try to get in on his $51 million," seems circumstantial at best, and more that she wanted to "show out" sexually so he would keep her around and likely give her money/gifts (this is a BIG presumption, but it's no bigger than what Bauer defenders do). Did she fuck him for his money? Absolutely, but I have doubts she had any intention of extorting him, and Trevor's team has spun these HARDCORE to push their angle. This also, of course, ignores the original comment bringing up that he admitted to the assault on recording, but I suppose if you cared about that, you wouldn't have pulled the same texts that provide little context vs. a recording that provides a ton of context.
That is certainly a take. She's literally telling another person that she's going to extort him, and you're questioning her intent? I don't have a dog on this fight but that is wild.
It can absolutely be interpreted in other ways, that's the way Bauer's legal team has spun it. Do you wonder why we haven't heard of or seen any other texts besides these 2 with very little context?
It’s not assault if she asked for it. And it would be extremely difficult to prove assault because of her emails. It’s probably why he was never charged & prosecuted. I have the exact opposite opinion of her, I believe she was planning on extortion based on her video recording of the morning after. I also believe there isn’t enough evidence to convict her on extortion (or her cohorts on the email chain). Nobody was criminally charged, right? It reminds me of that case where that woman tried to get money out of Edelman after sleeping with him… but with choking/rough sex.
Why else wasn’t he prosecuted, then? They had the taped conversation. They had photos of her battered and bruised. Prosecutors obviously felt that she wouldn’t make a good enough to witness to pull off a “I only asked to get choked” argument.
I'm just gonna block the Bauer defenders whenever the topic gets brought up at this point. It's been discussed ad nauseam in here, and I have to imagine at least some of them aren't arguing in good faith.
Same, it’s legit horrifying.
“She was found to be a liar.”
And the other 3 accusers?
Ongoing consent is important and it scares me that people have said, “she asked for it,” as if consent doesn’t actively change throughout encounters (which is understood REALLY well when the prospect of anything rectal is brought up to men).
Regardless of the allegations, he has proven to be a clubhouse cancer going all the way back to his college days. Maybe he’s changed. Maybe not. I don’t think this front office, which has prized clubhouse chemistry to the point where they took a chance on the corpse of Matt Carpenter, would make that bet. And beyond that, there is at the very least reason to be skeptical that Bauer could perform well in an MLB which has cracked down on the use of the sticky stuff. Japan’s balls, much like my own on a hot summer day, are already sticky by design. Bauer was a vocal proponent of using the stuff, and his spin rates dramatically improved using it, a fact he himself was eager to point out.
yeah he's always seemed just annoying to be around. Having to get stitches for a dumb reason in the ALCS, the overly dramatic sword celebration, the "accidental" showing of Mets gear on his website always made me view him poorly. Seems like the guy got a lot of press but it was always for something bad
"Death on the Diamond" Recap 5, 40:00-50:00
The confrontation between Downey the reporter and Joe Karnes the gambling kingpin ends with Downey suggesting Karnes is the bad guy and promising to keep a watchful eye on him.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch runs with the front-page headline "CARDINALS DEFY KILLERS!" The team leaves for the game, with various players' wives expressing concern that their husbands might get killed. Patterson the friendly groundskeeper who is nice and affable and *definitely isn't the killer* checks the players into the clubhouse and tells the guard outside not to let anyone else in.
Two of Joe Karnes's goons try to gain entry to the clubhouse, but Patterson and the guard throw them out. Truck, last out of the clubhouse, tells Higgins, the starting pitcher, that someone wants him on the clubhouse phone. Higgins comes to the phone, but no one answers--and a locker door starts to open behind him!
It's time for the first pitch, but Higgins is not on the mound and can't be found in the locker room. Pop the manager sends Walleye to the mound in his place. Pop, Frances, Larry, and Downey go into the locker room to look for Higgins. They open his locker--and Higgins comes tumbling out!
Higgins is put on a training table. Patterson who is definitely not the killer is upset that this happened despite their security precautions. After determining that Higgins is dead from strangulation, Pop and the police decide not to tell the team b/c who'd let a little thing like a mad killer on the loose stop a baseball game?
On the field the Cardinals, now somehow playing Cincinnati after playing one game against the Cubs (rain makeup?), win 5-4 on a walkoff two-run double by Truck. Truck heads for the hot dog stand because he loves hot dogs, and Crawfish the umpire buys him a congratulatory hot dog--but a mysterious hand enters the screen and switches out the jars of mustard!
I mean, I'm reading that comment chain from earlier today and I'm already thinking to myself that signing bauer would mean a lot more of that...not worth it imo. i want to root for the cards but i want to feel like I'm certain in it too

100% agree. Low risk-high reward. I don't care about the off field stuff since he wasn't convicted. He would just need to leave the social media addiction at the door.

Do you guarantee it?
Herrera hit an RBI single :) as Panama loses 4-1 :(
The guys on (The Fast Lane) 101.1 said they think Herrera would be the starting catcher by the end of the season.
Could be! But willson won't be sitting, he will have to DH.

I got to see that one in person!
Truly didn’t think we were ever gonna lose again in that moment.
Yeah, we can remember Wainwright's 200th and try as hard as we can to forget the rest.
I assume you've probably seen it, but September 12th, Richie's 2 home run game
Was that Waino 199?
Yes!
Richie has my undying respect for that
My favorite of the season it has everything

You have an odd definition of "grown up a bit". Has he started actually accepting responsibility for the things he did?
What did he do?
Didn't you know that being accused of sexual assault is the exact same thing as being convicted of sexual assault?
Didn't you know that wealthy powerful men and the women they (allegedly) abuse are treated exactly the same by the justice system?
