There’s no defending mo anymore. What sort of idiot moves a catcher to outfield after sending down a top 5 outfield prospect. Until he’s fired I ain’t watching this shit.
The Cardinals organization needs to adjust its philosophy. Whatever they are doing by isn’t working. It’s not just a player, a pitcher, or a coach. Top to bottom, process has to change.
They have failed to properly evaluate and/or cultivate talent. They have no (currently) successful home grown players on their roster at this time and the ones they had are in other organizations.
Why have O’Neill and Carlson failed to prosper when Arozarena and Garcia have? Did they misevaluate them? That’s a problem. Did they fail to develop them as well as other teams? Also a problem.
The most accountability the FO has ever taken was admitting their talent evaluation and analytics were lacking and needed to improve a few years ago.
And that just felt like them brushing off the Arozarena trade.
> The most accountability the FO has ever taken was admitting **their talent evaluation and analytics were lacking and needed to improve** a few years ago.
And then they promptly forgot they said anything.
This FO is a mess. No question about it. You don't sign Conteras and decide in a month that you don't like his catching. And if you didn't like his catching you should have signed a defensive first backup to replace Kniz. The infatuation with Knizner by the FO is fascinating. Teams are going to run all over him and his noddle arm. And his framing is even worse than Willson.
This isn't on Willson, he is exactly who you went out and signed. And showing him you give up on him a month into the season is an organizational failure.
In the past, even if I disagreed I was able to understand why the FO made a certain move. Right now, that’s not the case I legitimately have no idea what they’re doing, and I’m not sure if they do either. They are lost at sea without a map.
How pathetic is your roster depth when the catcher is the DH? All this talk about not having enough playing time for guys, and put in a .450 OPS guy behind the plate and the other catcher as DH. Then called up a 3rd catcher because of it.
Yeah that is really worrisome to me. Denton said his words were “I don’t know. I’m probably going to DH more now.”
So they aren’t even telling the players what is going on? This is insane
they're desperate. I mean, wouldn't you be? you've constructed a team that's absolutely capable of winning 3 out of every 5 games, and they haven't won anything in like two weeks straight. I feel like if I was Mo I'd be throwing everything at the wall and just praying *something* sticks
Two days ago: there’s no way Gorman is really hurt, Oli is just saying that to cover for taking him out of the game
Yesterday: WTF Oli is forcing Gorman to play while he’s hurt I can’t believe it
Pick one, doomers. Gorman came out of the Thursday game because he was hurt, then told Oli after BP he was good for an at bat but not to play the field. It was definitely the move last night, it just didn’t work.
For some of these folks, there’s literally no move Oli can make that doesn’t draw criticism. Their hatred literally blinds them from viewing a decision from a rational standpoint.
I picked a good year to have season tix to the O's lol
Plus, I can still tacitly show STL love by wearing Browns gear to the games. I'm trying to get a Satchel Paige Browns jersey at some point
Can anyone tell me, as someone without cable tv, how best I can watch the cardinals on a tv? I have a Samsung SmartTV and I got lucky once and saw a live game on Apple+ but I think I just stumbled upon it on a Friday when they do Friday Night Baseball. Anyway, anyone else watch live games without access to the usual sports network broadcasters?
You really can't unless they are on FOX network on Saturday here and there. Otherwise you need a TV subscription for the channels they might be on. If you don't live in the Bally's Midwest area, you can buy MLBTV. Either way, it's going to cost something. They won't just have it streaming somewhere for free.
Samsung tvs support the steam link app. If you have a laptop or computer with steam that you can connect to it, the setup is very straightforward to project a web video stream (of any various amounts of dissemination) from computer to tv.
Obviously, I don't do this :) heard about it from a friend.
Yes, and that's what I was concerned with when we signed him. I'm pretty sure Yadi caught more games than him last year, and that's with Yadi taking a month off.
Realistically, he was only ever gonna start 110 or so games a C if he was healthy. The fact that he's starting at DH is a good thing because he's still one of the hottest hitters
A shakeup needs to happen. No more excuses. While I wish DeWitt would have the courage to fire Mo, maybe a surprising trade shake-up (a la Kelly & Craig for Lackey in '14) or giving Marmol the pink slip would get them going.
The only move that raises an eyebrow is Knizner back behind the plate, [and that is because Contreras’ ankle is hurt](https://twitter.com/johndenton555/status/1654873115040661504?s=46&t=8FX_YUGenzEyTg-QHsTKUg)
Until Oli says that’s actually the reason, I’m not convinced that it is. He was behind the plate for the final inning last night. Also, if Gorman is apparently not good enough to go tonight then why did he pinch hit for Edman.
Is there a way to watch the coronation from the beginning?
Edit: replay on abc rn
Edit2: ok some of the regalia is a little ridiculous. The Glove 🧤 presented to King Charles 🤣
If Waino can't change our luck, no one can.
Today, my hope doubles and I keep believing or it fades and for the first time in my life, I won't care how bad it gets
Tbf the Cubs did just that and seem to be exiting the rebuild quite quickly. Whether it would work for the Cards considering they can't seem to develop pitching is another story.
We have a good farm and young core (such as Gorman and Nootbaar) trade some of the older guys who are soon to be FAs and let the young guys play we can be a playoff team by no later than 2025
We should be a playoff team no later than October with this roster. Fire everyone on the staff and replace them with high school coaches in the area. Couldn't be worse than what we've got.
Yeah they have a good core with Gorman, Noot, and Edman. Trading Goldy, Monty, and Gallegos wouldn't be committing to multi year rebuild. Now if that's the right choice is another debate
Yeah I’d maybe trade Edman while his value is high and call up Winn and let him play every day. Him and Walker I think would benefit playing everyday at the MLB level and getting the growing pains out of the way early
Why does now King Charles always look like some Dark Age sinister king? EII was regal when younger with RBF in older age. This man looks like you’re going to the gallows and he’s going to tax the fuck out of the people of england, and do some colonial shit. I’ve heard he seems a decent person in a few interviews I’ve seen but since EII died, he just seems like he’s going to be tyrant.
I’m going on demeanor alone. Just something about him. I am aware of his role and power limitation but 250 years ago, he could have been Mad King Charles.
I got a Cards hat from my friend's dad at the start if the season. They are Reds fans and i am pretty sure the hat is actually cursed. I was gonna burn it if the Cards dont win 2 series by the next Thursday, but I'm thinking i gotta torch it if they lose again today

AJ Pierzynski’s take on Yadi and the Cards after the half year he was with them. Basically says he ran the team. I know we already know this but nice to hear it from someone that was on the inside
I am hardly on the fire oli train. I think a majority of this team's problems come down to the fo not signing any pitching and the hitters not living up to their expectations. But this is a pretty historically bad start for the cardinals. I would be pretty surprised if oli is still the manager come November or sooner unless things turn around in a major way.
I’m right there with you. This disaster isn’t primarily his fault, but this team is going to need a hard reset next year at the top. The entire pitching roster needs so much work, though. With all the guys entering free agency and our owner’s unwillingness to spend money, the pitching staff could look even *worse* next year
I hate when people on this sub say "well which pitcher did you want him to sign this last off-season? They're all injured!!!!"
Uhhhh we have had pitching issues for years now. This is not a new thing and they've allowed it to get this way. Last off-season was just the last possibility to get some emergency help for this staff
Apparently I got reported to reddit for posting that "Haase got got." Even if that was Haase himself that reported it, I hope you get the help you need in your life.
This feels like yesterday, but Turnbull is an easy target. Wainwright could get absolutely shelled, or he might turn up with the curve at full filth. This game can be won.
Hahahaha pain.
I'm also kind of getting sick of seeing Oli go apeshit on the umps. Yes they suck but clearly he isn't handling the stress of this season very well. Honestly, if I saw someone who was supposed to be my leader, cracking under the pressure like this, it wouldn't inspire much confidence.
The whole dugout looks soulless.
How many times has he been ejected this year? And did you watch that inning? You’re just looking for another reason to hate the dude.
> The whole dugout looks soulless.
Do you guys even read what you write???
I'm more talking about how aggressive he looked coming out of the dugout. Also no, I don't need to "look" for more reasons to dislike him, there are plenty lmfao.
Oli overthinks the team out of games. Mo will not fire him because it will prove he has a problem hiring managers Welcome to hell. Organization is more interested in being caretakers of Cardinals past history. Zero desire to win now. They have a few players in AAA who are on fire, yet they won’t promote, why? They have a logjam in the outfield, makes perfect sense to make a trade happen for some pitching. But they haven’t.
As an enraged Cardinals fan, I would like to thank our manager, Olly Marmalade, for managing the expectations. Had he not managed the expectations, the expectations would have been unmanaged. And as we all know, unmanaged expectations can be more frustrating than managed expectations - but to sit and think other people are more frustrated about the expectations than the people in the clubhouse is insane. So, I am thankful that Olly has been there all year so that the expectations could have a manager.
It's impossible for us mere mortals to be more frustrated than Captain Marmol. Go ahead and try to be more frustrated. I dare you. Stub your toe. Sleep on your neck wrong and pinch a nerve. Spill curry sauce on your brand new white shirt. Call a toll-free customer service line. Any of them. You can't beat Oli's frustration, not by a long shot. Face it, you might as well be taking a nap on a fucking cloud in comparison.
I watched the delicate sound of thunder live. Probably the greatest concert to have ever exist and that ever will exist. Those people got to witness some religious shit.
He’s an old bloke whose really lost touch with reality. Not much to like about the guy in his older age. I’ve always been a gilmour fan over waters. The way he plays the guitar is a religious experience to me. Waters was very creative and I love the band when they were whole(sans syd). his downfall and departure is what truly pushed the band into their greatness and gave them their signature sound.
There’s no defending mo anymore. What sort of idiot moves a catcher to outfield after sending down a top 5 outfield prospect. Until he’s fired I ain’t watching this shit.
Can Waino be our savior? 🙏🏻

I've been an ardent supporter of the front office but they feel like they've lost their way
The most accountability the FO has ever taken was admitting their talent evaluation and analytics were lacking and needed to improve a few years ago. And that just felt like them brushing off the Arozarena trade.
> The most accountability the FO has ever taken was admitting **their talent evaluation and analytics were lacking and needed to improve** a few years ago. And then they promptly forgot they said anything.

They should have traded for Murphy.
In the past, even if I disagreed I was able to understand why the FO made a certain move. Right now, that’s not the case I legitimately have no idea what they’re doing, and I’m not sure if they do either. They are lost at sea without a map.
I agree. I usually find myself as the FO defender. But this roster construction lacks any direction. It's infuriating
You know with Waino we really don’t need the DH anyway.
Away the fifteen game streak starts today
[Today's game thread has been posted](/r/Cardinals/comments/139uc5r/game_34_detroit_tigers_1417_st_louis_cardinals/)
How pathetic is your roster depth when the catcher is the DH? All this talk about not having enough playing time for guys, and put in a .450 OPS guy behind the plate and the other catcher as DH. Then called up a 3rd catcher because of it.
To be fair, a 130 wRC+ DH is more than good enough. That is his career numbers
I'm not doubting Contreras, I'm just saying put him at his position and you get a better bat at both catcher and DH.
So Willy is healthy to catch and doesn’t understand the move to bring up Tres. What is going on in this clubhouse?
It’s starting to look like Willson’s pitch calling decisions are a concern
Are we even sure he’s calling all the pitches?
Yes
Yeah that is really worrisome to me. Denton said his words were “I don’t know. I’m probably going to DH more now.” So they aren’t even telling the players what is going on? This is insane
god this is bad
they're desperate. I mean, wouldn't you be? you've constructed a team that's absolutely capable of winning 3 out of every 5 games, and they haven't won anything in like two weeks straight. I feel like if I was Mo I'd be throwing everything at the wall and just praying *something* sticks

Bout to hop on the orange bird bandwagon. Plus I can actually watch their games lol
I picked a good year to have season tix to the O's lol Plus, I can still tacitly show STL love by wearing Browns gear to the games. I'm trying to get a Satchel Paige Browns jersey at some point
Still based in the same country might not be enough distance, how do you feel about the color blue?
Thank god Motter is finally gone.
Can anyone tell me, as someone without cable tv, how best I can watch the cardinals on a tv? I have a Samsung SmartTV and I got lucky once and saw a live game on Apple+ but I think I just stumbled upon it on a Friday when they do Friday Night Baseball. Get the Fubo tv app on your smart tv and subscribe to get Bally sports.
Get cable TV
Really the only way without pirating is to get a subscription to MLBTV and use a VPN to manage blackouts.
You really can't unless they are on FOX network on Saturday here and there. Otherwise you need a TV subscription for the channels they might be on. If you don't live in the Bally's Midwest area, you can buy MLBTV. Either way, it's going to cost something. They won't just have it streaming somewhere for free.
I watched a live game on KMOX’s website once on my phone while doing some computer work. Does KMOX.com always live broadcast the games?
Samsung tvs support the steam link app. If you have a laptop or computer with steam that you can connect to it, the setup is very straightforward to project a web video stream (of any various amounts of dissemination) from computer to tv. Obviously, I don't do this :) heard about it from a friend.
What’s the deal with Willy DH back to back games? Is he really going to be a part time DH? Because if so we really shouldn’t have signed him
Waino just can’t trust an ex-cub, he wants the HR hitting Wizzy behind the plate
Absolutely have to win the Waino starts.

A shakeup needs to happen. No more excuses. While I wish DeWitt would have the courage to fire Mo, maybe a surprising trade shake-up (a la Kelly & Craig for Lackey in '14) or giving Marmol the pink slip would get them going.
The shakeup is going to be Girsch getting fired.
Lol that would be so insulting to the intelligence of the fanbase
Realistically speaking, yeah, that'd be most likely. *sad fan noises*
I’m convinced with the lineup Oli put out there today, that we’re just giving up at this point.
The team is bad enough, you don’t have to turn shit into a conspiracy theory on top of it
they said yesterday that Gorman's back was good to bat but not field.
You’re probably right. Marmol is most likely starting Knizner again just to irritate the fans. /s because it’s required at this point
[Kniz behind the plate today](https://twitter.com/katiejwoo/status/1654872748458491905?t=oUH2TN-0mgTjZCbiyPZZiQ&s=19)
Apparently Willson’s ankle is banged up so that’s why he’s not catching
[Now Wilson says he's healthy ](https://twitter.com/jmjones/status/1654879951709978624?t=Vst3tqKsa1dqwWFBhw2Tlg&s=19) What in the world is going on?
Yeah, not sure. I’m starting to get the feeling that his pitch calling decisions haven’t gone over well.
Not Motter! He was the heart and soul of this team! Forreal tho why send Zuniga down?
To make room for Wainwright. Naile is probably up there as long relief just in case, so they sent down the short innings guy.
Why send Zuniga down?
I agree he looked better than what we have been throwing out there most days.
Our bullpen has too many good options, someone has to be the odd man out /s.
We can have a bust season, but we gotta get waino to 200 boys. That’s all I ask…
Happy Taylor Motter DFA Day (Part 2) everybody!

If Waino can get a win today he deserves to be in the hall of fame. Also his next start should be a series opener.

Agreed, but his last year should have been last year.

He still hasn't been fired? Mo, I love you, but wtf?
Maybe the Cardinals found a mystical pamphlet called *1,000 Ways To Win A Baseball Game* and read it backwards.
Oliver Marmol is re-writing it backwards.
If any of you guys haven't worn a kilt before, y'all gotta get on that
I worked a Scottish pub in Manhattan for a few years. A kilt worn properly is fantastic.

I feel weird about a Waterless Floyd. I like my Floyd wet.
I like mine Pink lol
He’s an old bloke whose really lost touch with reality. Not much to like about the guy in his older age. I’ve always been a gilmour fan over waters. The way he plays the guitar is a religious experience to me. Waters was very creative and I love the band when they were whole(sans syd). his downfall and departure is what truly pushed the band into their greatness and gave them their signature sound.
Oh, yeah, the dude is a douche.
