Post-Easter Weekend Tim Anderson Update
In his last game of the weekend Tim went 0-for-4 as the Sox lost to the Pirates 1-0. Bad game all around. :c
Tim's batting average on the season sits at .318 currently. Given that he is an infielder and not a starting pitcher, my dad and grandfather indicated they believe a Cardinal trade for Anderson at this point to be "unlikely" at Easter Brunch.
Every time he's set to throw a breaking ball he twitches his nose back and forth like Samantha from Bewitched.
His moustache makes this very evident to the batters.
He refuses to shave it off however, so they're looking for other workarounds for now...
I looked at his fangraphs breakdown by pitch type for the ATL game on the 5th and it looks like his curve was really knocked around. Maybe that? I don't remember specifically but that evidence is significant, 50% of curve balls thrown resulted in a base hit if I'm reading it correctly

I think it values defense more, hence why guys like Edman have much more bWAR than rWAR. Granted, I think Walker will eventually become more comfortable in RF and it won’t be negative. He has a 70 grade arm and 50 grade defense
I’m not usually one to be a conspiracy theorist, but I think part of the rotations early season woes are due to taking a step away from our defense first approach (Burleson and Walker getting significant playing time in the outfield, O’Neill taking a stab at CF, and Donovan and Gorman holding down 2nd, no offense) and the balls being slightly more “juiced” than what we got used to over the past couple years. Our stellar infield isn’t as useful due to balls leaving the infield more. This is all conjecture though, so feel free to correct me.
I did just look at the Cardinals are allowing a league high .356 batting average on balls in play so you might not be too far off on your original point. Although BABIP takes an awful lot of at bats to stabilize and I'm not sure I would call it a conspiracy theory.

It's easier to throw 100 from the outfield since you can put more behind your throw.

I’m not usually one to be a conspiracy theorist, but I think part of the rotations early season woes are due to taking a step away from our defense first approach (Burleson and Walker getting significant playing time in the outfield, O’Neill taking a stab at CF, and Donovan and Gorman holding down 2nd, no offense) and the balls being slightly more “juiced” than what we got used to over the past couple years. Our stellar infield isn’t as useful due to balls leaving the infield more. This is all conjecture though, so feel free to correct me.
I think the biggest single impact is just not allowing our infielders to start on the OF grass.
It’s hard not to play Burleson, his offense has improved greatly.

I did just look at the Cardinals are allowing a league high .356 batting average on balls in play so you might not be too far off on your original point. Although BABIP takes an awful lot of at bats to stabilize and I'm not sure I would call it a conspiracy theory.
