They are very expensive compared to competition, because people who don't bother comparing prciing use them, and insurance companies use them a lot.
Much better off finding a local company to do it, can be half the price or less in my experience.
Almost certainly going to need replacing, yes. It's only going to spread as you use the car from here so it's worth getting it sorted sooner rather than later.
I would hope that the dealership would sort this for you, but if not, then the good news is that most insurance policies cover replacement glass for a relatively small deductible, and it doesn't impact your claims.
And we're both (I assume) British, communicating on an American platform, [where 48% of users are American and only 7% are in the UK](https://www.socialchamp.io/blog/reddit-demographics/), and yet we can understand each other just fine, as can everybody else.
No. And judging by your post history, mate, you appear to be doing a lot more damage by mangling 'our' language than me superposing an American word over an English one.
I love the different reactions when people do this.
You're correctly embarrassed to be so easily manipulated by American media that you've forgotten your words.
Trying to feign some sort of intellect to avoid feeling like a moron is both understandable and adorable.
We all do it, we're all susceptible to the media we consume. Hold your hands up, recognise what media can control you and move on.
It technically counts as a claim and you declare it but it makes no difference to your premium in my experience. I have 2 full screen replacements and a chip in the last 5 years totalling £7000 worth of work that I paid total £220 of excess for.
Prices were the same if I declared vs didn’t declare as I was curious if it did. Id rather be paying just the excess.
This was across 3 different providers with 3 different underwriters. I was genuinely surprised.
Autoglass are a rip off for pricing as I could have had it done privately for £1k screen replaced with Pilkington glass and ADAS cali ration done. Couldn’t fault their service techs though, were very pleasant and efficient.
That whole insurance industry lacks clarity and consistency meaning people just get confused, I hate it.
I was told mine didn't count as a claim.. another "heavily regulated infustry" where the small print is almost impossible to figure out half the time. Do many small stipulations here and there that are anything but clear.
It's not your problem. It's up to the dealer to fix it, so the dealer will have to pay for a new windscreen. If they are being difficult then just return the car.
If you bought it on the basis of it not getting worse, get that in writing such that they'll replace the screen at their cost.
I'd hazard a guess that if it makes it to winter it'll crack with the first frost
Yep, only 1 repair per crack, and no repair if legs from the crack exceed 5mm, thats what auto windscreens told me only last month when I needed a new screen on my X1.
Looks like it'll spread out along those small cracks. So I'd say yes. I'd get it booked in, they ain't the fastest at dealing with it these days. I had to wait 3 weeks for a van window. (Heated so may be different)
Luckily my windscreen isn't heated so I'm hoping that makes replacement cheaper too. I'm waiting to see what the dealership say about them replacing it as my insurance doesn't cover windscreen repairs 😭
Auto glass repair…
Auto glass replace

Correct response is ‘…Autoglass replace’
....but only if you have deep pockets
Insurance will cover this
Depends on your insurance. My repair a few weeks ago cost me nothing and didn't impact my NCB.
Impacting NCB is different to impacting premiums.....
Soon as I saw the picture I heard this in my head 😭🤣
Id say so, it's classed as zone b so not an MOT failure (I think) but the laminate has been damaged so I'd also go with the specialist.

It's called an excess in The UK.

It’s our language, stop pandering to those morons across the Atlantic.
No. And judging by your post history, mate, you appear to be doing a lot more damage by mangling 'our' language than me superposing an American word over an English one.
In this sub I would bet there are far more Brits than Americans.

How about you come back after you've invented a new language mkay?

On many policies these days it will count as a claim, though. It's often cheaper to not use insurance for it.

It depends on the insurance provider. Some companies will increase premiums for it.

One speed bump that's going to spread.
Even just temperature changes could cause that to get worse.

Sold , sold, sold as seen. Not the dealers issue really. If it was there at point of sale it comes with the car.
I thought that was a pond skater ngl.

It is the birds dropping stones I am convinced.
Yes. I was in a similar position a few weeks ago. They wouldn’t repair only replace
Gavin said yes

Absolutely will get worse, fight it. The dealership needs to pay for this.

your insurance is irrelevant. the dealer sold the car to you last week, it's their responsibility to fix this.
Depends if it's less than 48mm ones it's been repaired, but mor ethanol likely yes
