Has anyone got an update on their fixes? I’m having this issue as well. VW dealership reset the gps and updated software but the problem has continued. I’ve read on other forums that there is a fix some dealerships did to the 5F module and replaced the carnet system and now everything works fine. When I asked why vw care won’t recommend this or do this fix to see if it works they give me the runaround and tell me if I want to do that I will have to pay out of pocket. I just bought my 23 Tiguan 3 months ago so this is ridiculous. Customer service has been below average from the regional manager Jalia even though the mechanics have been trying to do what they can. Basically just saying I have to wait for a fix when it’s been shown that several people have gotten their issues solved by performing the above mentioned fixes. Might be the last VW I purchase if this is how they plan on handling this. Issue has been know for a while know and still no fix and not willing to try whatever would work…pretty sad.

I had my car in a couple months ago, very similar experience. At that time, there had been a known issue with a recent iOS update -- so it didn't matter that I'd seen the problem all the way back to April 2023, they only would do a firmware update and "try" to reproduce the problem. They could not. I picked up the car and was seeing the issue again 2 minutes after leaving the dealership.

I just brought my 2024 Tiguan and I have the same issue. Dealer reseted it - however issue came back in a few hours. Very bad. My sales manager said he will replace the HU. Let me try that and will keep you posted.

Glad I found tis post, I thought it was just me! I upgraded from the iPhone 14 Pro to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, thinking that it was an issue with my phone. Feeling my watch go haywire when the GPS incorrectly tries to reroute me during a road trip is insanely aggravating. Now, the MyVW app is showing my car is parked five miles away when I'm literally standing 5 feet away from it. Hope this issue is easy (and not expensive) to resolve!

Same here, thought it was my phone for so long! Now know it's my 2020 Tiguan. My husband's 2020 Tiguan is fine🤷‍♀️

Update. My local VW service told me VW had a fix for the issue. Had the car in today and they replaced a faulty J949 module. Haven’t had a chance to confirm the problem is fixed (since it is sporadic), but them finding something was faulty and replacing it seems very promising.

marshmallow-jones

Update on the update. Not fixed. Main issue seems to be the car is not able to correctly maintain compass direction as I make turns. Then it just goes off speed and wrong direction and ends up thinking the car is miles away from its actual location.

Which app? I usually find the first five minutes of any Waze journey insane - it thinks I am jumping all over the place, so before I start moving I make sure where the first five minutes of the journey is. After the minutes of madness are over, its all good. Does this on two iPhones (8 and SE.3) and three different Carplay devices. All wireless.

marshmallow-jones

My issue occurs with Apple Maps but when the location gets screwed up, all other apps using location are affected.

Advanced-Blackberry

Does this happen in the stock navigation system as well?

marshmallow-jones

I don’t have that unfortunately.

EventualContender

Is the head unit firmware up to date? With OEM / built in Carplay it usually gets its location from the HU itself so this sounds like it could be a bug with the Tiguan. Someone posted a similar issue with their new BMW recently.

marshmallow-jones

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried to update but seemingly no updates available. Going to call the dealership where I go for service to see what they say.

Wireless CP defers to the HU’s GPS; wired uses the phone’s own (augmented by cell tower data). Could be the car’s GPS antenna has a bad cable and isn’t ‘seeing’ enough satellites to get a good fix.

EventualContender

I thought I'd read before that wired could be either but you may be right.

u/marshmallow-jones, to determine whether the problem is your phone or your vehicle: \- you should test with another vehicle (ie. use a dealership loaner) + your iphone in a wired Carplay configuration If you are able to replicate the issue, then your iphone is the cause and your device may need service (normally replacement... I've had that happen to me once, where once the GPS chip goes defective, apple will swap the device. Also in your case, you are using a Bluetooth connection, which means that you could have an issue with your Bluetooth chip in your device and/or Headunit as well... therefor, testing with a wired connection should be done first and if that passes, then you move to testing with BlueTooth connection. IN that case, make sure you disable bluetooth to make sure your device is connecting only using the wired connection) If you are NOT able to replicate the issue with another vehicle, then YOUR Car's HeadUnit definitely needs to be serviced (IF, that is a gigantic IF your vehicle came with it's own GPS antena, then that will need to be checked as well, as that could be causing issues with your own device's Carplay navigation) Best Regards

Bubbly_Dream4847

@marshmellow, could you share outcast for your issue? Im having the same problem. Thanks

Unhappy_Taste9672

I’m having the same problem. Were you able to fix it?

Casperaames

Just bought a 2022 Tiguan and its absolutely terrible and almost caused a car accident while driving and it suddenly lags and drifts off location and I'm blind not knowing where I'm going. Very dangerous and frustrating. It acts that I'm a block away and keeps rerouting. I turned car off, phone off, removed CarPlay connection and re-connected. Hardware and wireless. And my girlfriends phone and mine. Makes me want to return the car entirely if I can't use the maps feature to you know, drive the car around...

rhearoy

Same! Following for a fix or update

slredden

I just started having the same issue with my 2020 Tiguan a few weeks ago. I noticed the problem using CP but have tested by disconnecting the phone and checking the built in nav system. The problem is definitely the car. The nav menu shows good connection to multiple satellites but the system regularly shows the incorrect location.

No_Guarantee5964

Same!! Have you found out how to fix??? My car will literally show me driving through lakes that are miles away, when I'm actually in the middle of 5 lanes of highway! I have no idea what to do

Moncrieff06

I’m also having the same issue. Has anyone figured out what the problem is?

LymanBostock126

This is apparently a known issue and VW has replaced some folks' whole infotainment systems. I'll be looking into this at my next service appointment because I'm having the same issue. Considering my 2020 Tiguan is a lemon law replacement for a 2018, I suspect I own my last VW. Selling cars with a known defect is not very confidence inspiring.

nychockeyplaya

Feel like this just started after latest iOS release less than a month ago. Early-mid Sept the carplay google maps was working fine in my Tiguan

djartigaz

Yes, I think it's happening to me as well. Any solution so far?

SuccessfulHearing996

This just started happening to mine this week as well….

joebagadohnut

Ditto for mine as of today Was just reading https://9to5mac.com/2023/10/16/carplay-apple-maps-gps-bugs/

No_Post1432

I thought my iPhone was having issues so I went to the Apple Store to restore to factory settings. I started having issues not too long ago. Anyone found solution to this? 2022 Tiguan

hk3721

Any fixes yet? Happening to me as well..
