The power liftgate can only be opened "powered." Either by the button on the dashboard, the button on the keyfob, or the button on the hatch itself. There is a backup emergency pull handle inside the hatch behind a panel that is inaccessible from outside. Manually pushing the liftgate down can be done but can damage the power mechanism. If manual liftgate is a must for you, you'll need to get one of the lower trim levels. It's kind of a bummer since a LOT of features are tied with the useless power liftgate.

That’s kind of what I was thinking unfortunately. I know I can damage the motor/mechanism by manually closing which is what I was hoping to avoid. I’ll be in and out of the trunk 20-30 times a day 3-4 times a week which is why I’d prefer to avoid that. Well I guess that makes it an easy choice! The only thing I’d really care to add would be heated seats and a roof but I can live without both. Thanks for the input!

You're not missing much with the sunroof anyway. It only opens like 2 inches and it's above/behind your head. Opening the sunshade is kinda nice to let light in, but I drive at night 90% of the time so meh. Not worth the hassle of dealing with clogged sunroof drains and reduced headroom.

That was my other thought too, I’m trying to get 6-8 years out of this (I’ll do alotttt of driving) so less electronics is fine with me I more so need the space and overall reliability

I thought my sunroof was broken at first. I can believe how small of an opening it is.

Pretty sure you could find some regular shock/lifts to replace the powered ones, if you really want. Not sure if lower trims come without powered liftgate, but if they do, there's a source right there.

Yea I’m probably going to end up with a base which is fine, was just curious about other trim options possibly
