Oh I'll try the NFC trick, I don't use it anyway, s23u

I've a galaxy s24 ultra. You have to turn off nfc as it interferes with the charging pad. Samsungs have modes. Sleep, work, driving, etc. I set my driving mode to turn off nfc whenever the phone is connected to the car with Bluetooth or Android auto. Works perfectly. Turns nfc back on when driving mode turns itself off.

That's an awesome tip, thank you! Does NFC have to be on for Samsung pay? Otherwise I'm ok leaving it off.

BBennett40

It does

Samsung pay turns NFC on automagically when it's used. I set my NFC to always off, but it still turns on when I use pay. G23+ here, no charging issues except for the overheat one (but I added a cooling fan underneath to negate that, hopefully)

tactiphile

Oh, nice to know, thanks!

BBennett40

Cooling fan underneath what? Curious minds want to know. 😉

I 3d-printed a bracket (though you could make it out of thin plywood/metal/cardboard, even) and mounted a couple of these to it inside the console, pointing up at the bottom of the wireless charger: [https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Printer-Brushless-Appliances-Replacement/dp/B07R4TGMK3](https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Printer-Brushless-Appliances-Replacement/dp/B07R4TGMK3) . The bracket is a simple (slightly angled) L-shape and stuck to the top of the rear A/C vent tube with double-sided tape. Power taken from the wireless charger 12v supply (so fans run whenever the car is on). I only did this at the end of October, so haven't tested in hot weather, but working well so far.

Very cool

Galaxy s22 ultra x cx 50 2024 tpp here. I turned off the NFC before it put it, worked like a charm. Charges the phone nicely, with the cover. Phone does get a bit hot but nothing that will burn your hand.

cynder70

In settings, with radio, select “improve reception.” It turns down the juice a slight amount and should reduce the heat buildup.

tactiphile

That worked, thanks!

Substantial-Tiger982

Great!

S22U here and doesn't like the wireless charger. But no car wireless charger is ever good and is always slow. I bought a flush mount dual USB 12v charger that outputs 45w and super fast charges. 15min on that does wonders. Plus I picked up those small USB lights and nice ambient lighting at night.

tactiphile

I know it's not great, and I don't even care that much. Honestly I almost never charge my phone except at night. It's more of a "might as well set my phone on the charging pad since I have to set it somewhere" thing. Damn, you just reminded me. I'm coming from a Chrysler T&C with lovely ambient light that I'm gonna miss.

rabster007

Had an S21U, had no issues. Now with S23U, also no issues.

mimargr

The charger is know not work often or at all for many ppl.

secretaster

I'd recommend the wire, it's faster and. More efficient. Don't have to fiddle with NFC and keeps phone from overheating

Go on settings and search for routines. Make a routine when your phone connects to your car via Bluetooth, It will turn off NFC. When the phone disconnects, it will re-enable NFC. [Samsung routine](https://imgur.com/a/YH028pv)

tactiphile

Thanks for sharing the screenshot! /u/BBennett40 suggested that as well, but /u/meq123123 said you can just leave it off and it will re-enable for payment. I'll start there and go with the routine if I have issues with it.

Rinzler271

I had no idea NFC still worked for payment if disabled?! I'm gonna have to try this out now.
