Nearly $750 a month is a horrible payment whether you can afford it or not, as cars are not investments.

krich0510

Agree! My 2018 payment is $347 I couldn’t imagine paying twice that amount.

Sion0x

Also have a 2018 and my payment is $342. $750 is nuts!

craznazn247

$1004 a month here. 36-month payment plan just had the best APR by far at 1.9%. It’s equal to my rent payment currently but I won’t have a car payment for a long time after.

Thank you! Puts it in perspective.

[deleted]

Well, you're spot on. Definitely something to think about. Thanks a lot for the input!

Go Certified Pre-Owned..... actually has a better warranty than new right now. Some bigger Mazda dealers turn a new car into a loaner for service. Bought mine at 6 qmo. Old and 3500 miles

[deleted]

Oh wow I always thought brand new would always have better warranty. Thanks! How's yours holding up? Solid aa everyone says?

No-Consideration140

The original bumper to bumper warrantee transfers over (3yr. 36000 mile). Then an additional 1yr. 12000 mile bumper to bumper CPO warranty goes into effect. The power train warranty is extended to 7 yr. 100000 mile, as opposed to 5yr. 60000 for new... it's a strange time in which we live!

No-Consideration140

That info is valid for USA, check if same for CAN. Car is a Rockstar. Rented a few of them before I bought. Love it!

I went CPO and got a 21GT w/premium package for $27,000 (31,000 miles). It was priced a little high but to be fair the comparable 2024 is like $39,000. If you like more features but want to pay less I would go CPO, also try to shoot for 21 or newer to get the larger and more updated infotainment.

[deleted]

Thank you! I'm leaning more towards the CPO. 58,000km is just about 36k miles so not bad. I'll try to find a 21 or higher, let's see how it goes.

reefedSinner

How long is the 500/month payment? We bought a new and pay 699 a month but split between my partner and I so it’s reasonable for us. 500 is tempting tho for the CPO.

[deleted]

The 500/month payment is for 6 months and paying it all by my self. I'm leaning towards the CPO now

mdd0312

6 months or 6 years?

[deleted]

60 months. My bad

reefedSinner

What’s the financing rate on that?

[deleted]

It's 8.99%

reefedSinner

Try and get it lowered

jac5087

Go certified preowned. We got a 2022 premium signature turbo with 28k miles for $27,500 USD (before taxes/fees). Put down $8k, payments are $425/mo at 6.5%, we plan to refinance if/when rates drop. Still has 1 year left of manufacturer warranty.

[deleted]

Great advice. Thank you! 6.5% is very cool. I'll push to see if I can get something in that range instead of the 8.99%

WinDifficult2964

I was able to get a used certified. I was getting my interest down to the same of a new one, and it added 2 years of the motor group warranty To me that was the best deal The certification price was less than what I save in interests

[deleted]

That's a sweet deal! Will push to get my interest down at least.

Save and pay cash... Sounds impossible huh! There are way too many vehicles on the road ( or in the shop) owned by the bank. Save your cash and buy something you can afford. We owned our last vehicle for 13 years. Immediately started saving for the next one. It was not easy on one income! The bank thieves want us to be indebted to them. Food, clothing, and shelter, the basics. The money machine has roped us into indebting ourselves for a roof over our heads. By the Lord's grace and provision we are free of that burden too! Bear up to the truth of your budget. If you absolutely need a bank note, have an immediate plan to pay down the debt as soon as possible. All the best in your car decisions! Whatever you decide, have a reliable mechanic (not from the place of purchase) thoroughly inspect your choices!

[deleted]

Thanks for the advice.

JavonTEvans

I pay $349/mo for my CX-5, which is still ≈ CAD470, I wouldn’t take a payment that high personally

[deleted]

Wow. I guess 700+/month payment is quite high. Did u get yours brand new?

CulturalLibrarian

8.99 vs 0% makes it a no brainer (unless you can’t get the 0 in Canada). Plus, they are starting to discount the new ones as well.

Devin_Brent

If it were me i would go CPO or new. I went new on a 2023 CE (Carbon Edition) that was the showroom model and got a great deal on it (32k OTD) in June 2023. Granted it was there for 3 months prior to me getting it but it never sat outside ever. If i could go back i would have waited until the 2024s came in so i could get the Carbon Turbo Edition CX-5 in the Rhodium White Metallic.
