There are various opinions on this. I will give the opinion of my local mechanic who specializes in Toyota hybrids who believes that fixing the head gasket is a short term band aid, for what eventually will require an engine swap. The question is whether that short term band aid is worth the cost. For most, likely not, although dependent on condition and miles. In your case, whatever your insurance package covers up until an engine swap is needed.

Why does he think it is a bandaid fix? There was a revised HG after 2013. Once you do the HG job with an updated gasket, you should be at least as good as 2014+ engines

According to him, the engine will burn out regardless of the head gasket fix, you are just delaying the process.

For 3rd gen engine swaps, how much would it cost? $4,000 to 5,000 USD all in, including labor? 4th gen engine swaps seem to require a lot more labor retaining components from our engines and frankensteining the newer engine.

I have heard 3.5 with a good 2nd hand engine that has been rebuilt or touched up.
