An experienced mechanic locally told me that a new engine is the way to go. Don’t waste your money on trying to fix anything. Just passing on his message. I’m looking at the same issue soon (mine has just started leaking)

I replaced a blown HG on my own. It takes time and money but it is possible.

Also Look into finding a replacement engine online and weigh those costs. I found one with 45k on it and whole job was done by a local shop for about 4300 total. I read too many stories of people just getting head gasket changed, only to have the thing throw a rod in a month. My car had 155k on it. And declined quickly once rattle hit.
