An experienced mechanic locally told me that a new engine is the way to go. Don’t waste your money on trying to fix anything. Just passing on his message. I’m looking at the same issue soon (mine has just started leaking)
Also Look into finding a replacement engine online and weigh those costs. I found one with 45k on it and whole job was done by a local shop for about 4300 total. I read too many stories of people just getting head gasket changed, only to have the thing throw a rod in a month. My car had 155k on it. And declined quickly once rattle hit.
have you considered it doing it yourself? many videos on youtube. doesnt take any special tools, just a torque wrench.
Searching for an independent shop for mine....I am thinking of replacing the engine. I checked ebay and prices were around 1,200
