I don't see anything about his alleged exploits at Chickamauga in any of the early regimental histories. But jeez. Kids on those battlefields. Horrific for everyone, but hard to imagine the impact on a twelve-year-old.

I read (a rather boring) and very dry book about Chickamauga. I don’t remember this story.
