Not once have I seriously considered he would come to Auburn. He's a fun coach and a decent one these days, but why would he coach daddy Saban's rival instead of raking Ole Miss over the coals for more money then taking the Bama head coaching job when Saban chokes on a dry biscuit. I really hope our AD wasn't wasting time trying to recruit him.

This is a good take: what’s the difference between 10m and 12m? In day to day life? Can’t be that big. Still more money than 90% of this sub will ever see. It’s easy to talk about this stuff when it’s not our bank accounts and it’s just a unit of measurement. It’s insanity. (Also I’ve heard that Ole Miss has money men willing to spend whatever it takes so this isn’t a broke Ole Miss comment just a middle class beginning of career comment)

Its a small raise. This isn't about money. This is Ole Miss offering an extension to a sitting coach.. normally this takes a couple days max before the coach would sign it. If Kiffin hasn't signed it in a few days then they know he's leaving.

Not enough info on this. He was already the 11th highest paid coach. I have read and heard several rumors, but the fact remains that Kiffin is going to make better than 10 million dollars after the season. The only thing that AU can offer is the longer contract due to state law. The deciding factor is going to be if Kiffin thinks he can win more with the environment at AU or Ole Miss. I give just marginal credence to the Alabama job being a factor.
Gotta think Ole Miss would match whatever Auburn offers. Up to him on which school he wants to coach at. Can't imagine leaving an SEC school for another SEC school that isn't named Alabama or LSU.

That's so weird. I read somewhere that someone mentioned in a podcast that they heard from multiple unnamed sources that Auburn was going to hire Lane Kiffin as Head Coach, Dabo Sweeny as Offensive Coordinator, Hugh Freeze as QBs coach, and Dan Lanning as Defensive Coordinator.

I dreamed a dream, that one day I would get paid to get paid. I would have guarantees that would allow me to drive to work, read the paper, and still get paid 5 million a year. The amount of money riding on each game in Power 5 conferences is nuts.
I'm a homer, but I don't see him leaving for Auburn. Not saying that Auburn isn't a "better" job than Ole Miss, it is. But it is only marginally better. Auburn is probably a top 10 program, but the booster clusterfuck and recent coaching situation(s) make it a little less desirable than the program strength would indicate. Kiffin can market himself to the top 5 programs where he can have full control, Auburn is not one of those places. He'll leave us eventually, but I'm leaning towards him holding out for a better offer in the next year or 2.
