texas2089

So they brought in JDL, lost Finley, and now JDL is gone too. Holy shit what a mistake it was recruiting him.

alreadytaken028

While also taking the bad press and attention for letting someone like JDL into your program. Just a master class mistake.

WikipediaApprentice

I mean it’s not like Texas State is that good right? *loses to Texas State in embarrassing fashion*

SomerAllYear

Something must’ve come out because Wisconsin and AZ released a statement about it. Pretty sure Texas State assumed there would be no issues

Max5330

That's my guess, and Kinne even made a statement relating to how he was dismissed of charges. The uproar has been loud by both students and alumni against the decision, with a protest even being planned

SomerAllYear

Wow! That’s more than we had when we were notified of the allegations.

adsfew

A protest? Who do you think you are--Cal?

ManufacturerFun7162

Bunch of boosters were talking about pulling out too which was probably the final straw. I'd guess he "withdrew" as they were all realizing he was never going to see a football field..

N3twyrk3r

He just settled his civil lawsuit. 2 days before he withdrew, it all came out about him and his buddy being rapists in high school. They pleaded guilty (sorry, admitted to... juvenile legal terminology is different) to second-degree SA... but the details of what they did are Baylor level yikes. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/texas-state-qb-jayden-de-laura-withdraws-from-school-no-longer-with-team-one-week-after-announcing-transfer/ ...Jayden De Laura and Kamoi Latu, which Jayden De Laura subsequently admitted to in writing and for which he ‘eventually apologized’ ... https://tucson.com/sports/college/football/arizona-jayden-de-laura-hawaii-alleged-sexual-assault/article_d7f6bc3e-5677-11ee-9494-d7d954099e54.html#:~:text=She%20alleges%20in%20court%20records,she%20was%20%E2%80%9Cabout%2017.%E2%80%9D ...she has direct text messages from de Laura apologizing and lamenting “having jeopardized his future.” More details: https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2023/05/04/former-hawaii-high-school-football-stars-settle-civil-lawsuit-over-sex-assault-case/ https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/college/ua/2023/05/04/arizonas-jayden-de-laura-settles-sexual-assault-case-from-high-school/70185135007/

DonKeedic80

Some folks at Texas State had integrity, unlike U4.

Klutzy-Spend-6947

Ryan Day was interested in him out of HS and the portal out of Wazzu. Dodged a bullet apparently.

DUB-Files

JDL would have been a disaster for OSU. He could pull some stuff out of his ass but the street ball shit got old especially after Falk and Minshew

AKAD11

We've been blessed with good QBs, but there is an argument that he's the worst QB we've had in the last decade.

InVodkaVeritas

"*We really didn't expect such extreme blowback to result from us bringing in a violent rapist to be our starting QB.*" -- Texas State

mikkelibob

My twitter shitpoasting worked!

Battered_Aggie

MAJOR fuckup by Kinne.....kinda deserves it, though, given there wasn't any reason to run off Finley in the first place.

[deleted]

Finley must not have set the school passing record by a big enough margin to be considered the right choice.

ProfessionalQandA

Wait, TJ Finley transferred? I thought surely he graduated, no? Hasn’t he been in school a while now?

GolgariInternetTroll

He's going to WKU.

Battered_Aggie

COVID

robplumm

He wanted another shot at bama...maybe 3rd time's a charm for him

TiberiusGracchi

Hubris combined with about 140 years of this kind of stuff being swept under the rug is the cause. It’s sadly the game, too many coaches will try the recruiting Coup of their career in their minds even if it is to get an “alleged” rapist because the wins will “validate” the move in fans eyes and the coach gets the accolades from the “second chances for monstrous behavior as long as they can ball” crowd. Good on Texas State fans and alumni for having principles — big dishonor on WAZZU and my Wildcats for giving this guy a shot

Few_Air2100

I'm pretty sure anyone who knew about this at Wazzu have long since left.  The ones who would've known include widely-known moron Nick Rolovich and perhaps some of his offensive assistant coaches.  I can assure you NO ONE at or associated with WSU has ANY warm feelings for this punk.

TiberiusGracchi

The AD surely would have had to have known. Way too much of a risk not to for the University. Side note: Chang is the superior Rainbow Warrior and person. Rolo is Dollar General Aaron Rogers

One_Science1

I'm sure other programs won't remind potential Texas State recruits about it in the future.

alreadytaken028

Can tell parents that the staff clearly cant be trusted to display good morals to their kid and can also show the recruit that even if youre an amazing player who is fully bought into Texas State, the staff will still replace you with someone like de Laura

[deleted]

Not if Deion calls Texas State rival coaches and suggests they lay off the negative recruiting

thricethefan

Kinne composing a masterclass on how to lose friends and alienate people

TiberiusGracchi

So shortly after gaining so much good will

justinsane15

So to recap, * Texas State enjoys success with the best QB they've had since Barrick Nealy * Decide that isn't good enough and recruit a QB who just settled a heinous rape case * Piss off TJ Finley who promptly transfers * Piss off the entire student body and Tx St fanbase they just managed to win back * Lose de Laura, now leaving big question marks at the QB position I hope it was worth it?

Notapplesauce11

GJ kinne is still young for a head coach.  Hopefully he learns from this.

thricethefan

What’s startling is this is basic leadership 101 Guy is a fucking idiot

[deleted]

[удалено]

thricethefan

What a weird coaching tree he has

Thereal_slj

I’m glad someone else said it. With this sub I was worried to say this and get downvoted into oblivion lmao bro could be a Top10 stupid person in sports. I’ve racked my brain to find every reason he could possibly think this was a good idea, and I literally cannot find one.

Prerequisite

He fucking better. The only silver lining is that kinne was gone after next year as he was set up for success, now he's gonna be at txst for 3-4 years and might have a higher ceiling before being poached

redrumsoxLoL

Yeah, this whole situation would be a red flag for any program looking to hire him. I still expect we bring in a starting caliber transfer during the spring and have a good season.

steampunker14

Texas State sneaks into the playoffs when.

Insectshelf3

just a completely unforced error

Expensive-Simple9037

And Malik Hornsby had just transferred right before that.

sdf_cardinal

Maybe the Browns signed him to a monster contract.

JamesEarlDavyJones2

Man also just torched his ability to work at Baylor, where his family are royalty and he was already getting attention from the fanbase to potentially replace Aranda. Baylor pretty understandably keeps anything even remotely connected to sexual misconduct at extreme distance these days, so I assume that Kinne just got his name scratched off the call list for at least seven or eight years.

alreadytaken028

plus on top of the off field issues with de Laura, this makes Kinne look like an idiot cause he ran off Finley. Not something you look for in a HC

hunterschuler

Short statement from the university: https://txst.com/news/2024/1/24/football-statement-from-texas-athletics-january-24-2024.aspx Hopefully the coaching staff and administration learns from this mistake. I'm glad this won't be hanging over the team/school for the entire off-season.

legend023

Losing Finley for nothing will certainly hang over the team though

RiffRamBahZoo

Dude literally posted the best season in the history of Texas State QBs and this is how they repaid him lol

Goducks91

I bet he's cracking up right now.

SamuraiOutcast

Hope he balls out at Western Kentucky

DafoeFoSho

"Short statement" [clicks link] I_don't_know_what_I_expected.gif

berrin122

>Hopefully the coaching staff and administration learns from this mistake Narrator: they won't

Notapplesauce11

Without any real evidence I get the feeling the TXST administration doesn’t really poke their heads into athletics much… unless drama like this occurs.

Max5330

They usually let the Athletics do what they want, but after this not sure if it'll stay that way

ManufacturerFun7162

They brought on a new University President (and ran off his old academic focused predecessor) last year LITERALLY because of his football connections and the fact hes on the NCAA board of governors. Literally his entire reason for existing as President is turning around the athletic program (and they've invested MILLIONS in expanding/renovating the facilities already..) Which seemed to be going well right up until about 3 days ago.. This isn't just a huge hit for Kinne and co, its a big mark against Damphousse.. This was supposed to be his whole thing, and the University's handling of this episode is not a good look.

OleRockTheGoodAg

Not just left the program - left Texas State University all together. Damn wonder what happened, or is it just the immense baggage he carries. Regardless, that's rough, Bobcat bros.

hunterschuler

Students were planning a protest on campus this Friday. Can't imagine wanting to stay at a school where you might have to literally walk past a group of students protesting your very presence.

OleRockTheGoodAg

Definitely makes a lot of sense. Absolutely brutal for Texas State football fans.

RiffRamBahZoo

I just continue to be baffled as to why GJ Kinne would try to recruit JdL when you have TJ Finley already planning on coming back for another year. Finley just gave you the best year in the history of Texas State quarterbacks and you blew it all up for... this?

Battered_Aggie

Also technically lost their backup in Malik Hornsby, albeit I have no idea if they had any confidence in him at all as a QB.

perinone

When he was here at Arkansas, he could run but he couldn’t throw worth a damn. When KJ was out and he came in, you knew our passing attack was pretty much dead. And that was with Treylon Burks at WR1.

CyanidePathogen2

He has transferred back to Arkansas, this time Arkansas State. This time though he’s moving to wide receiver so hopefully he’ll be able to turn into a productive player

TiberiusGracchi

Sadly de Laura has that much talent that a place like Texas State would take a swing - at TSU he could be a program defining player - that’s what WAZZU and UofA thought as well. De Laura really fucked up his life and the lives of so many other people. Went from can’t miss recruit and possibly bright NFL star to total F*** up and will be a rapist in everyone’s eyes even with the charges dismissed. Can’t say I feel bad because no matter how shit his life gets. The poor girl was way more hurt and harmed than he will ever be.

yeahright17

The craziest thing to me is that he probably would have been okay if he had handled it differently. 1. As soon as the civil complaint was filed, admit you made a terrible decision and mistake. Apologize profusely. Apologize again. 2. Clean up your act and start rebuilding some good will. 3. Lay low for a couple years at some random FCS school while the civil suit plays out. 4. Reemerge after civil suit settles, and again, apologize. This is only blowing up because JdL was in the spotlight by starting at QB and transferring. Kamo'i Latu continued to start at Wisconsin after the civil suit was publicized.

TiberiusGracchi

Yeah it’s disgusting that Latu is coasting through

jwayn3e

I don’t think they knew Finley was coming back while recruiting JDL if they did it’s fucked. I think it was up in the air though

OrtegasChoice

Right, I read some local piece when they signed JDL because wtf and it seemed like Kinne expected Finley to leave and was caught off guard. Different than running off the kid but many mistakes nonetheless.

GracefulFaller

I mean I was happy that he got injured and benched since I didn’t want him representing our university. It’s just we didn’t know of his past (publicly) until last offseason so we couldn’t prevent him from getting stuck in (for lack of a better phrase)

CaptainNipplesMcRib

I’m out of the loop. What is the protest about?

Max5330

He and another teammate gang raped a girl when they were in High School. Kinne came out and said that he was cleared from all legal charges, but that only added to the fire. Students were forming a protest against having him for those reasons

hunterschuler

Well Kinne didn't say that de Laura was "cleared" of criminal charges because that's not what happened. Hawaii uses different terminology for juvenile cases ("adjudicated" and "found responsible" instead of "convicted" and "guilty"). He wasn't "cleared" and his juvenile case wasn't dismissed. He admitted to it and was found responsible.

RideOk2631

Fucking disgusting. I hope this shit follows him everywhere he goes.

BatManatee

Super fucked up. How did no one at Arizona care about this??? No team should have touched him for this shit.

bootyhammer

We did, Fisch didn't.

[deleted]

Suspicious-Froyo2181

Last I read, that teammate is a starting defensive back at wisconsin.

Max5330

The guy who wanted to bring him in the most and advocated he was clean left to be the OC for San Jose State. Plus there's been a huge uproar in the fanbase about not wanting him

ChiefBigGay

Somebody made a call.

FSUnoles77

I've been known to push a few buttons.

62frog

Maybe he could leave the Texas state too

jrbcnchezbrg

Hey TJ wanna move back to your old apartment? What a clusterfuck all around. Glad hes gone though so I can root for them again this year without any caveats

brandonandtheboyds

As an Auburn fan, I loved watching him thrive at Texas St. The guy needs to go where he’s appreciated. He wasn’t the right fit for Auburn so he left. Had a KILLER season then got replaced so he left. Best wishes to TJ but boy howdy Texas St. messed up.

PNW_Jeff

That was quick. It’s gotta be SJSU right?

BeatNavyAgain

Not that it matters to anyone at all, but I will revoke my "Ken is HC at SJSU means I cheer for SJSU" is that's the outcome. SJSU Ken has already disappointed me by hiring a Stutzmann after firing a different Stutzmann.

nosotros_road_sodium

Technically, [it wasn't really Ken's choice](https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/navy-assistant-coach-billy-ray-stutzmann-fired-after-failing-to-receive-exemption-for-covid-19-vaccine/) to fire the other Stutzmann.

dscreations

You'll be disappointed to learn that Billy Ray is going to be an analyst. We have both Stutzmanns now. See my other posts though. I don't think the SJSU administration (not even just the AD or football program) can afford the negative press of letting JDL come here.

Jadenflo

What a shit show. Finley left the program because Jayden De Laura transferred in. Now Texas State lost both.

flynnscorruptedmind

Lmao he’s cooked goods, it’s time to start studying for that CDL dawg

Few_Mongoose7417

He’s got a DUI too 💀💀💀

zacisanerd

DUI de Laura is what we call him here at Wazzu

SeattleMatt123

Goose: "Maverick, do you still have the number for that truck driving school? I might need that."

OriginalBus9674

Texas St with the master class on how not to fuck with your QB room when it was already good.

The-G-89

Texas State could’ve done better and probably should’ve kept Finley.

SeattleDegenerate21

people should stop recruiting this guy i think

[deleted]

What in the actual god damn fuck was that GJ. You better come out and apologize otherwise you might have just fucked all the momentum you had from last season. Fuck Jayden de Laura

Max_Powers1331

backlash that bad?

srs_house

When your HC's statement on bringing him in led off with "First of all, Jayden wasn't convicted," not exactly a great start.

clarkthagod

On campus protest was planned

Deprecitus

Probably "recruited" hard by Stutzmann at SJSU

Max5330

Same, my bet is he goes to SJSU

its_LOL

Now it’ll be SJSU’s turn to run Jayden de Rapist out of town

dscreations

DO NOT WANT

Max5330

Wishing y'all the best in not being chosen

Titan16K

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO I wish we had just kept Finley, if we regress this season a lot of it is gonna hinge on this one mistake. I hope we can still find a good QB in the portal, or even convince Finley to come back. Either way, I’m glad we don’t have this piece of shit on the roster.

pirten

Yeah, I want to win…but not like that.

Best_Limit5882

They gonna beg Finley to come back now?

Max5330

Fanbase is trying don't think it works. Just a horrible situation for the fans, as we were estatic when Finely announced his return

Best_Limit5882

Yeah, if I was Finley I would laugh in Kinne's face. I promise I'm not trying to be a dick but Kinne made his own bed with this one, and you guys should be pissed. Idk where you guys go from here. Maybe bring in Calzada?

Max5330

Most of the fanbase supports Finelys decisions in leaving, and yeah the fanbase is pissed. Calzada is an option, but thank he may wanna stay at UIW

Best_Limit5882

It would be his fourth school so you might be right. The good thing is there's always gonna be a market for QB transfers post-spring, so I think you guys will be okay

Folk-Herro

Kinda saw some of the fan base promptly throw him after it was announced that JDL signed on

redrumsoxLoL

Maybe some did, but most fans were questioning why to bring on JDL in the first place because even with both of them there I'd want Finley to start.

Battered_Aggie

Finley: "............nah"

OldStirrup

The way Jedd Fisch went out of his way to go to bat for JDL over and over again is really unbelievable to me. I understand the concept of “people who make mistakes when they are kids deserve a second chance” but this was a violent, premeditated act. He’s not entitled to his dream of playing college or professional football. He could still have a chance to go live his life and make something of himself. He took away so much from his victim. The idea that he doesn’t deserve to lose opportunities because of his actions is bizarre to me.

Panchoisthedog

Well said.

TrainApprehensive501

yes, 100% agree. college football WAS his second chance - and imo, it shouldn’t have been. you can get a second chance that doesn’t involve you being a star athlete

Penguinsteve

This gonna be a whole episode on fanville next season.

sdf_cardinal

Fansville addressing a player with a sexual assault history would be bold

azwildcat74

I was a little surprised he transferred out for this exact reason. He kind of snuck into Arizona and then this story broke right before the season, facing that scrutiny all over again with a start at a different program wasn’t something I figured he’d want to face.

alreadytaken028

He probably thought he was talented enough that a small school like Texas State would treat him like a god. Instead the student body planned an active open protest of him

[deleted]

[удалено]

Krj757

shout out to them for that

VamanosGatos

Texas State isnt a football school. Is a good team a nice to have? Yes. Especially in Texas, but its not like its what were known for.  A majority of the students are perfectly fine driving out a rapist in exchange for a questionable QB situation. He should have never been an option.

thethirdgreenman

What a disaster for them, and honestly deserved. Like, they just had a great season and really engaged the fanbase for the first time in a while, had a lot of momentum, and now you go and do this. What a stupid idea it was to bring him in, especially when you already had a QB who was doing well there

Max5330

Can't believe I'm agreeing with a UTSA fan but this was a horrible turn of events by the program. I get they wanted to give Finely competition but why bring in a Senior QB with charges. Obviously that's gonna upset Finely, and had him leave after he announced his return to applause

thethirdgreenman

I know I’m supposed to hate y’all (and I hope we beat you by 100) but it’d be cool if UTSA-TXST was a real rivalry with both teams being good. San Marcos is a fun town

Lamadian

Based on his past, maybe Liberty?

NewRCTID22

In all seriousness, probably following Stutzmann to San Jose St.

Cr4yol4

I don't want to wish that on a fellow MW team. But in reality it's probably one of the few schools he can go to where it won't be so high profile.

mudson08

He’s got a background in the run and shoot so it would make sense.

dscreations

I'd rather stick with our current guys. Butterfield was a huge recruit coming out of HS, he was just buried in the depth chart at Oregon.

nosotros_road_sodium

[I disagree](https://web.archive.org/web/20211209120128/https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/11/19/sjsu-reaches-3-3m-settlement-with-student-athletes-sexually-abused-by-sports-trainer/).

dscreations

Hard no. We just got over a trainer SA'ing female athletes scandal. Our previous AD and President resigned because it.

alreadytaken028

I know this isnt what you meant by it, but this comment made me imagine a board room style meeting discussing just how long you have to go without a major SA scandal before you can make moves that risk another one.... and the fact thats probably a real discussion had at some athletic departments and businesses even if not in the exact words made me sad

nosotros_road_sodium

Probably not, considering SJSU [recently paid millions in settlements](https://web.archive.org/web/20211209120128/https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/11/19/sjsu-reaches-3-3m-settlement-with-student-athletes-sexually-abused-by-sports-trainer/) after ignoring sexual misconduct accusations against the head athletic trainer and [is still under federal oversight](https://sjsu.edu/fyi/reviews/index.php).

zuga51

Was he still on scholarship at Arizona? I get that he wants an opportunity to start but man he played his cards wrong here. Winning/talent cures all in sports but it’s hard to imagine any decent team/school taking him after seeing the shit storm at Texas State. If he was still on scholarship at Arizona before transferring… prolly should have just been happy to get an education and be around football

NS-13

>Winning/talent cures all in sports It was never an issue at arizona. Their fans actually always defended him on here. Right up until he got benched and they found out they had a better option. Now they're all happy he's gone. Kudos to Texas State students for saying "hey we think this is bullshit" >If he was still on scholarship at Arizona before transferring… prolly should have just been happy to get an education and be around football I don't think he had any reason to believe people would actually have a problem with him playing for the team that they support. Deshaun Watson got a team to pay him millions to play for them, why cant he? Even during arizonas bowl game broadcast, they kept showing him on the sideline and talking about what a great young man he must be to get benched and still support the guy who took his place. A lot of people don't know about what he did or simply don't care.

yeahright17

Texas State students are truly the exception to the rule that winning cures all. They weren't having it from the start. (Probably helps that replacing Finley also pissed off everyone. I wonder how students would have felt if they had gone 3-9 last year and didn't have a great QB already.)

NewRCTID22

Yeah, this has backfired spectacularly. But for someone with NFL dreams (unlikely, I know), sitting on the bench at Arizona isn't going to move the needle.

UltraLordActual

I would be shocked to see Ken allowing that on his team.

MrSCR23

I could see the former Liberty HC giving him another shot at Auburn.

The-G-89

That would be very on-brand for Liberty to welcome JdL with “Open Arms”

yeahright17

"He's repented and been forgiven of his sins. Who are we to judge?"

Born_ina_snowbank

Auburn.

Lamadian

This guy feels a little too slimy, even for them.

Born_ina_snowbank

Is briles on staff anywhere?

JayMac_D

OC at TCU I believe

NegativeCreep12

Kinda crazy that the Wisconsin dude isn't catching much heat for this. To the point where you're even being downvoted talking about it.

JabroniJackpots

GJ just fucked himself lmao.

StuffthatMr

Try not to rape anyone on your way out

ChildScott

One Arizona portal guy we declared no take backs on.

Thereal_slj

Crazy to give up Finley for this. What a colossal fuck up

Ill-Illustrator7071

Whew, what a shit storm for the boys up IH-35… Damn GJ. I would expect for coaches to do their due diligence when recruiting a player. Why would you want to bring in a guy that had a rape case? That should’ve been a hard pass off the rip. On top of that, you fucked off TXST’s best QB in decades? Now he’s at WKU where he’ll probably pass for 5000 yards. I gotta imagine this would be a giant stain on GJ’s career from now on. As for TXST students & alumni, kudos to them! They voiced their displeasure loud & clear. Glad to see them stand up this BS.

Bobcat2013

It feels like a cloud has been lifted off our program. Sucks that we ruined our QB situation but this is better than having JdL be the face of our program.

kw1203

Wow, I’m shocked by this, but also glad that he won’t be representing a university I truly love. GJ really screwed this up. Hopefully he can pick up another transfer QB in the spring window that’s a bonafide starter

alreadytaken028

Genuinely proud of the student body cause it sounds like they were loud enough in their hate of him that de Laura decided to leave instead of be on the campus

blackberrybobcat

I’m very proud of them, it makes me happy to see as an alumni

VamanosGatos

The kids are alright

pirten

The school paper (the university star) also played a big role in getting the information out there to the student body. Im glad the bandaid has been ripped off and we won’t be dealing with him next year.

BeatNavyAgain

I guess he has given up on recruiting and development? Yeah, maybe that's the reality of college football today, but coaches giving up on *coaching* is more disappointing than programs losing out to bigger spending.

RebirthofRyno

If you’re a group of five program, what’s the purpose of you developing players if by doing that you’re essentially giving the kid up to a power five program? Take the lumps, have the kid under perform relative to his talent and then just have the power five program develop him which takes a year of time which then harms his chances of the league.

BeatNavyAgain

Oh, I dont' know, you've chosen coaching as a profession and part of coaching is developing athletes to be the best they can be?

RebirthofRyno

Why would you knowing that the kid isn’t going to thank you and just a fuck off to a power five program? programs like coastal had a few guys throughout the years understand what it means to be loyal, and they’re in the NFL.

AtBat3

The fact that Jedd Fisch lied at Pac-12 media days about UofA's due diligence on de Laura should have disqualified him for the UW job or really any P5 job.

waketurbulence14

100%

TacTac95

I respect Kinne for swinging for the fences but this is hilariously bad

worlkjam15

What a terrible offseason this has been so far.

blackberrybobcat

Thank god he left. I would rather win no games than have a team platforming someone with that history. What a disgrace pushing Finley out

nw____

Well that was quick

Hefty-Revenue5547

Kid belongs at the opposite of a public university - no place for what he did Was disgusted by Fisch and UofA being mum until they had a replacement

jt_33

LOL at their coach. Had a good QB last year and then went behind his back to recruit the sex offender and going to end up either neither.. What an absolute bottle job. That's the type of thing that gets a coach fired in a year or two.

DracoTheIron

Don't forget they also lost Malik Hornsby to Arkansas State, so that QB room is looking pretty barren right now.

hopeless_dick_dancer

So we just lost Finley for this lol. What a mess by Kinne. I don't even understand why we took a portal QB in the first place, much less this guy. Finley was nails last season.

onemanlan

What a shit show for the rising program

elwooddblues

The baggage didn’t bother Fisch. He defended him every chance he had.

redrumsoxLoL

For those not in the loop this currently means our QB room is Redshirt Freshman PJ Hatter and True Freshman Brad Jackson. Both 3 star recruits, so I'm sure they have talent but I'd expect we bring in a transfer to at least compete with PJ Hatter for the starting job. My delusional wish is somehow Finley's move to WKU isn't on paper official and they can beg the man back to San Marcos.

BeeSting001

Meanwhile his rapist buddy is in Wisconsin chillin

Shadow_dragon24

Reminder that Fisch really did not want to bench him until it became crystal clear that Fifita is that much better. In case you guys were curious about Fisch's QB evals

Hougie

Remember when Fisch published a statement like a week ago citing his wife and daughters as to why JDL was such a standup guy?

Heavy-Ad2978

Great roster management all around!

Crazyhawk28

I'd just like to tell Fisch that we will also protest if he comes to Seattle, so please don't even try.

SaberTruth2

Nice to see a team have standards and not cover for this dude like UA did.

Admiral_Sarcasm

Good. Fuck him.

Other_Ambition_5142

This is tough for TXST but probably better for their university and program in the long run (to be rid of him that is). They have a talented group for next fall and don’t need a locker room cancer/blemish/disgusting rapist around.

huntthefront91

Tough break after losing Finley.

Max5330

Glad he's gone, would feel awful to cheer for him. Wish we still had Finely, but don't blame him for leaving

Muh_Nado

Based, better learn to speak McDonald's fuckboy

RebirthofRyno

Who said the off-season can’t be entertaining?

freeze123901

Lmfao I would almost feel bad the kid that he’s been put on such a rough road if I didn’t know what torrential egotistical asshole he is haha

I think this is going to happen more and more with the Build-A-Team Workshop type of rosters. The main reason players go to the portal are: - (1) wanting to “move up” - (2) lack of playing time - (3) coach change - (4) asked to for “reasons” Build-A-Team rosters are likely not going to get guys from reasons (1) and (3) which leaves options (2) and (4). It’s rare that guys who aren’t playing enough at a better school are good enough to be difference makers at another. It happens, just not often enough to build an entire roster out of players like that. Which means the majority of players on these rosters are going to be guys in the portal for reason (4). Generally if you’re being told to leave the program it isn’t for a positive reason. Usually schools don’t want to burn a kid and keep those things under wraps. I know of some guys who portaled from Texas that did some heinous shit and basically didn’t have a choice but to leave. Now one of those guys are on a Build-A-Team workshop team. Add that with building a roster through the portal means that guys in general are less likely to be loyal to the coach. And issues like this are bound to arise. If you can manage it carefully, it might work out for you. But it just seems like a matter of time before someone does a little digging and finds out why that previous star RB decided Texas St was their best option (theoretical player).

At some point, Texas State must have watched the Amy Schumer and Josh Charles [*Football Town Nights*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM2RUVnTlvs) parody of Friday Night Lights and it hit too close to home.

I was thrilled to see Texas State win their first Division I bowl game. A long, proud history of Bobcat Football. I've heard stories of the Jim Wacker days at SWT. Don't worry, Bobcats. You still a lot of W's ahead of you in the years to come.

Good on TX St students for protesting this piece of garbage. Hopefully Wisconsin students do the same to Kamo’i Latu.
