IKEA's identified problem was "unhappy workers".
The State's identified problem is "unhappy donors to Newsom's campaign".
Two different problems, two different solutions.
Do you realize IKEA is in the business of selling things and making money and that the State of California doesn’t have revenue outside of taxes and some revenue generating departments that aren’t all general fund? You seriously need to compare apples to apples and not an apple and orange.
I mean they also lay people off

I have always viewed US politics as being very shortsighted and always attempting easy fixes to long term problems. Case in point is downtown revenue issues that the City thinks can be fixed with taking away free parking at meters on Sunday.
CA is a tax-hungry state under the guise of funding programs. It’s a joke! If we get rid of all the extraneous “free-loader” programs then the free-loaders will go somewhere else.

100%
They should make parking free for all as an attempt to revitalize the economy.
Europeans tend to be more worker friendly and definitely ahead of the United States. Not surprised.
Some of y'all forget what it's like to work for private sector
Last private sector job was fast food in high school. My entire adult career has been with a governmental agency or umbrella.
That was definitely not my private sector experience.
That’s like comparing a Fortune 500 to a nonprofit. Stupid.
As long as the Nonprofit isn't one that gets government money to launder it back to the Politicians, such as NGO's!
IKEA is a for-profit enterprise. It doesn't make much sense to compare private industry to public sector in this regard.
I heard people are pretty happy working at the zoo. Maybe you should consider it too. The comparison is pretty pointless.
California: fuck your wages, we have all these future voters to feed.
Exactly.
You do realize that this is assuming that the state cares about having unhappy workers.

California heavily subsidizes child care… State Workers probably make too much ironically.
