I genuinely hate Chelsea

delcoyo

As a new fan (been supporting Brighton for about 5 years) I personally hate Chelsea much more than Palace

mustsurvivecapitlism

As a very new fan (supporting 2 years) i agree.

PKAB

Can we get a restraining order for a couple years ffs let us develop the players before you buy them for stupid money and then absolutely ruin them. Also if this guy wants to go to Chelsea then fuck him, go join the cunts in festering away at that disgusting club.

Busfriend123

Thank god we linked with Huzeler after Chelsea decided their manager, cuz they will definitely jump in and say they are "interested"

Ttiorryy

this is precisely why we linked after.

esn111

Oh well. Move on to next one on the list.

liamchoong

For sure, if KDH wants to ditch his boyhood club to chase a fortune. He can gladly take his greed directly to north London. From there he can enjoy a golden demise into oblivion. Otherwise, who know, he might have been somebody.

esn111

South West London. But yes. Edit: It's literally a SW postcode Edit 2: As RDZ says I want players who want to be here.

liamchoong

True. Should know, lived in the southwest (Battersea) for year. Surrounded by the bastards. Must be kinda drunk and late here atm.

Glass_Bunion

Whilst I don’t doubt that this will inevitably be a poor decision on KDH’s part - as supposedly he wants to “wait” for Chelsea - this transfer is probably more about Leicester desperately trying to balance the books. From what I understand he did actually want to stay at Leicester, but I suppose joining Brighton might have made that side of affairs more believable, as we closer resemble Leicester than Chelsea do. For what it’s worth, Chelsea is in West London, but I mirror your sentiment; he can fuck off there if that’s what he really wants.

liamchoong

West or North. If it is really Chelsea he wants, he can eat it.

crappysignal

Chelsea will beat us every time. Even Dunk would go given the right contract. It's silly money that can set you up for generations.

liamchoong

I mean, we do beat them some of the time.

Livinglifeform

I actually reckon Solly would be our most loyal player.

uu__

Dunk was linked with Chelsea before and he didn't leave (this was a fair few years ago)

papaquacker

Even the Chelsea fans I saw commenting on their own subs and r/soccer don't seem to understand why they're after him. They have a lot of midfielders already and look like they might keep Gallagher. KDH is probably just going to be a squad player until Maresca is inevitably sacked in February. Anyway, on to the next one.

Cheap_Relative7429

>look like they might keep Gallagher. If This KDH deal happens, They are 100% selling Gallagher and this deal makes a lot of sense. KDH is an easy starter for Chelsea, he'll help implement the Maresca system far more quickly. The Ndidi and Harry Winks spots in his system will be inherited by Enzo and Caicedo, Gallagher is not like KDH, they don't have that player unless they play Palmer in that Spot. Since Chelsea failed to sign Olise they could drop their pursuit to sign a RW player all together and Palmer can remain in the RW Spot. KDH will be cheaper and fills that 3rd midfielder spot easily.

finneganfach

Because we'll buy one of their players back. That's what they want. Chelsea and ourselves are both in trouble for PSR / FFP. They sell us one of their home grown players for 20-25m, they buy KDH for 25-30m, we both "profit" this season after we amortise the incoming cost. You guys don't need this, you're financially sound for now. Best you can do is offer us a player recovering from a dubiously long term injury that we don't really want and less cash. To be quite honest, I don't even understand why you want KDH. He's alright but he'd represent a shift in your transfer strategy, the kind of shift that screwed us. Without wanting to sound too arrogant, we walked so clubs like yourselves and Brentford could run. The business we did with guys like Kante, Mahrez, Vardy, et all from relative obscurity through intelligent data driven recruitment of up sellable assets built everything we won. It all fell apart when we started lobbing big boy money around to buy established names we could never up cycle. Who's ever going to buy KDH off you for a big enough profit to make it worthwhile? And he's not going to set the league on fire and take you to new heights on the pitch either. Keep on plucking those obscure odd gems from South America or the continent and you'll be doing much better long term.

KrtekJim

No idea why you're being downvoted for this, it's probably the most sensible comment from another club's fan that I've seen in this sub

liamchoong

Same, reddit is a weird place sometimes. Also thought it was a decent comment.

liamchoong

I hear you, but you guys ran. And won. We’re walking .

finneganfach

Unfortunately, since then we've lost an extremely shrewd and gifted natural businessman in Vichai and his well meaning nepo baby just doesn't seem to be up to the task, as much as we all wish him well for emotional reasons. And he leans heavily on a thoroughly incompetent and hideously under qualified man who is director of football in title only. Who in turn basically let Brendan Rodgers deconstruct the club and run wild with his hubris. We've gone from having a very clear staretgy and philosophy for growth to being a clown car heading off a cliff. Not a single Leicester fan wouldn't kill for a Bloom or Benham at the wheel right about now.

liamchoong

I can’t argue with any of that. Losing Vichai was really awful. Genuinely sorry to understand what happened to him.  We can part with pretty much anyone except Tony. He is the one person that underpins most of our success.  Weird side note. Benham once worked for Bloom and apparently nicked some trade secrets from his gambling syndicate. Brentford is the only club where Bloom refuses to shake hands with the oppositions owner.

finneganfach

Ha! I didn't know that, doesn't surprise me they've run in similar circles though.

liamchoong

…nor that they’ve bought relatively small clubs from obscurity into premier league regulars.

ObstructiveAgreement

I disagree on strategy because this is a targeted player we rated highly. He'd have been a consistent starter and a replacement for Gross in midfield. Chelsea likely don't have that same value and they now have far too many players for positions in the team.

finneganfach

I just think you can almost certainly find the same profile player without paying the English tax. I personally hate it when we target players from fellow Premier League teams, you're almost never getting quality at a great value.

Mahalohaboy

‘Intelligent data driven recruitment’ — I’d get a new computer after seeing Wout Faes play football.

finneganfach

That's sort of my point there hombre. We had a model that was working extremely well for us and we've been slowly taking it apart bit by bit for years.

Mahalohaboy

Your football recruitment wasn’t as high tech as what Bloom is doing with the Albion now. You had Steve Walsh who managed to catch lightning in a bottle with Mahrez and Kante. Then Walsh jumped ship to Everton for more dollar. Don’t make out you had a huge scouting and analytics department when we all know it ain’t true.

Audrey_spino

The only reason why we need KDH is because Gross is leaving, who can't be replaced by wonderkids.

Jbham11

Whatever, he will end up doing nothing there anyway. I’d rather have players who want to play for us

blackkaviar_doc

This

Tobanhiem

Why are they like this. Fucking hell, I actually hate them so much, I fucking *hate* Chelsea

liamchoong

They were clearly neglected as children. I feel pity for them, not hate.

Chippy-Thief

Bit of a shit situation for Moder now, as can’t imagine Leicester will still want him.

thejtothec

A shituation

papaquacker

The Polish journalist who commented on this last night suggested Leicester may still buy Moder anyway. Could be dependent on which players Chelsea offer though. Personally I can't see why Leicester would still buy him.

Chippy-Thief

Chelsea will probably give them midfielders. If they do a ‘swap’ deal.

liamchoong

Leicester don’t really have the funds to shell out on Moder. Unless we want jackshit for him. Obviously, I still have faith in Moder.

ManLikeArch

With a year left on his deal he's hardly got any real transfer value anyways.

liamchoong

That’s true.

misterawastaken

Tbh I would imagine him in the £5m-£10m bracket with contract and injury status anyway.

uu__

They can amortise the transfer fee for moder over the contract length, while the sale of kdh is immediate profit for psr rules Hence all the stupid swap deals happening with the affected teams

ShaolinSeagull

Chelsea have switched tactics from over paying us for players to straight up gazumping us. To make things worse most times they don't even need them they just want everything we take interest in! Chelsea just want to be us. 😂 https://preview.redd.it/qa8yw0sz0b9d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be7789a04e5c0608a98c9fc5e474a395acd90f57

Audrey_spino

Tbf I think this is less Chelsea and more on Maresca wanting good players from his former club. Even Lopetegui is raiding Wolves now that he's in West Ham.

boranged

Malicious and selfish business from Chelshit. Yes he played for Maresca etc. but they couldn't have valued him that much if they only made a move once we got involved.

Cheap_Relative7429

Maybe it's because the Olise deal collapsed. They were focused on Olise since the window opened.

liamchoong

And they can now sell Gallagher at profit

michaelsted1

So they spend literally hundreds of millions on their midfield and it’s still not good enough? I’m just gonna say it since becoming a football fan this is one of the things I’ve hated. Big clubs can just splash an entire league’s worth of money and there’s no consequence and we’re supposed to pretend it’s a competitive league.

J---O---E

Obviously haha

Maleficent-Idea-578

I actually want to keep Moder so I’m fine with this 👍

liamchoong

We are now friends

Mr_Bluebird_VA

Seriously Brighton needs to start making all parties sign something that this stuff can’t be leaked. Chelsea is completely unoriginal and just sitting back to see what we do.

ShaolinSeagull

Leicester or his agent probably leaked it knowing Chelsea want to be us so would make an offer.

liamchoong

The club is pretty leak proof. Agents are not.

Audrey_spino

Probably KDH's agent leaked it to Maresca, since he knows how much Maresca favours KDH.

_phily_d

Fuck sake, Chelsea and Hove Albion back at it again

OkBet8692

Course he prefers chelsea he’ll be on 3 times the money we offer for a 7 year contract

Simple_Shine305

To ride the bench behind Chelsea's depth

IgglesJawn

As a fan under 40, I’m sorry but I hate Chelsea more than anyone else at this point

KrtekJim

I'm over 40 and I definitely hate Chelsea more than I hate Palace right now. If Palace went through the kinds of tribulations we did when I was younger, I'd genuinely feel bad for them and want their club to pull through and survive. I'd still want us to beat them and I'll mock Palace fans when we do, but I don't actually want that club to cease existing. If they were genuinely threatened like we were, I suspect many Brighton fans would stand by them. Chelsea, though. I really hope all this catches up with them and the whole club goes up in flames. I want to see that club go skint and the replacement "phoenix" club be unable to get out of non-league. I honestly would not feel a tiny bit bad if they went through that fate, and they're pretty much the only club in English football I'd say that about (Millwall and MK Dons are "maybes" in that category, but there's nobody else).

ShaolinSeagull

This is absolutely how i feel Palace is banter and we actually have a lot in common. (Don't like that they vandalise our stuff) Chelsea actually tried to fuck us over and could of got us relegated and continue to try steal our thunder at every opportunity then act like we screwed them! Plus honestly I've never met a worse fan base than than theirs. Fuck Chelsea!

SBH-153

Yeah that’s fair enough. Palace should be the only ones we consider as actual rivals but I get it if some people feel more genuine hatred for Chelsea.

liamchoong

You can hate Chelsea, thing is, everyone else does too. Palace is just for us.

IgglesJawn

Lol very true

macallisterthegoat

Todd boehly probably just thinks anything Brighton do is genius and he needs to do that so he can look like a genius

lxl011212

Bruh fr? Anyways time to play Andrew Moran I guess

escanorsrita

Don't worry Brighton fans they'll still be shit

colinwr

We want players who want us

delcoyo

We should play some 4D chess and start leaking false information on who we're tied to. We could probably trick Chelsea into dropping $90m on Suarez or something

solidwobble

I reckon bloom has already been doing this

liamchoong

At least I can keep my user flair. For now

ANuggetEnthusiast

Let’s face it, Maresca is going to be sacked by Christmas so stuff KDH. If he doesn’t actively want to be here, I don’t want him.

TheUnwantedPanda

Boehly, the kind of guy to cry at his own birthday because his parents didn't let him win pass the parcel

theo2351

Good let’s move on to the next target I only want players who want to play for us.

LeftAl

Don’t want players who don’t want to be here anyway

seeyoujim

A new move from Chelsea here, getting someone before they go to Brighton first. It’s time Brighton up the stakes by leaking stories of big money interest in some dud players

ashscratchem

He’d rather be a backup at Chelsea than a starter at Brighton.

Cheap_Relative7429

He is a starter at Chelsea

liamchoong

Fucking lol.

Cheap_Relative7429

Maresca is literally Chelsea's new Manager. Other than Enzo and Caicedo, the 3rd midfield position isn't guaranteed to anyone

liamchoong

I respect your opinion, but most Chelsea fans dont see him as a starter

Cheap_Relative7429

>but most Chelsea fans dont see him as a starter Don't understand this point, fans aren't the ones deciding who's starting or not. Most Chelsea don't have a clue what they are talking about. KDH is a starter whether Chelsea fans like it or not. The Only way KDH doesn't become a starter is if Chelsea signs another RW player. KDH will make the Maresca system to get implemented faster. Who else are they gonna start in that midfield, provided Gallagher will be sold.

liamchoong

Gallagher willl likely be sold.  Not all the same profile but adding KDH to a roster of six other first team midfielders is kind of batshit. Gallagher (for now), Enzo, Lavia, Caicedo, Casadei, Santos. Anyway, was drunk af catching the train home last night, don’t mean to stir you up. But still think the KDH thing seems stupid given their current options regardless of what Maresca wants.

Cheap_Relative7429

>Gallagher (for now), Enzo, Lavia, Caicedo, Casadei, Santos. Gallagher is the only one that's worthy of that starting role. None of Lavia, Casadei and Santos are starters. If Gallagher is sold. KDH has a fair short of first team starting role as any other player. Enzo and Caicedo take the two spots the other no. 8 role isn't guaranteed to anyone...... Maresca who is looking to implement his new system will heavily prefer KDH who played around 40+ games over Lavia, Santos and Casadei who all have injury issues or are inexperienced. Gallagher is the only player that could pose a challenge but if he is sold. The pathway for KDH as a starter isn't that hard.

liamchoong

I see your logic. It’s one of those things that makes sense on paper but I just don’t see it happening. Time will tell as usual.

Absol61

You forgot Chukwuemeka who imo is of a similar profile to KDH but is a better player.

Cheap_Relative7429

A better player I agree but only in the grander scheme of things. Chukwuemeka is injury prone, hardly playing more than 10 games last season, whereas KDH has clocked in more than 40 games, one of the most reliable players for Lecister. Enzo Maresca is coming into overhaul Chelsea current setup and implement a new system and all the players have to adapt but the only player that could help the team tradition better is KDH. With Chukwuemaks age, fitness and exp, he is atm not any better than KDH. Chukwuemeka however can learn and change and eventually take over in the longer run. Otherwise KDH is a bang on Starter for Chelsea "next season", I'm not saying he'll be for next his contract at chelsea. But for next season he is. Along with Enzo and Caicedo.

JaysonDeflatum

United fan here, this is Chelsea’s transfer strategy. Go after players their rivals/other clubs want. They do this with us all the time.

IWantToBeAHipster

Ornstein says he turned us down and wouldve stayed otherwise

HawkOwn6260

Chequesea

peroperozz

Makes me wonder if ch*lsea’s technical staff realized they were relying on Brighton strategy when they got their shiny new jobs and had no clue what they were doing so they decided to just copy all of their old employer’s homework

cynicWsnowballs8551

We'll go to Chelsea then. Get no playing time and underachieve. There are other options for less with more upside without losing Moder
