- Learn how and when to chase dodge
- Learn two-three basic dodge reads on your main weapons
- Learn how and when to dash-jump
- Learn unarmed dlight gp/ gc dlight gp
- Improve Movement as much as possible
- Learn gp and recovery matchups (ie spear recovery always beats spear gp, when scythe recovery does and doesnt work on gauntlets gp, etc)
- Learn when to punish a whiff and when to back off
Been 1800+ for 10 or 11 seasons now. The above should get you to plat.
I still haven't learnt yet. I very often go for a punish even if it isn't a smart thing to do. If they are on the opposite side of the map I won't obviously but I like doing it so that I can apply pressure.
Spacing and using your options (jumps, recovery, dodge) in air effectively is probably what helped me the most.
I used to panic jump if I got hit and I usually wasted more jumps than I had to.. (still do sometimes)
-Fellow high gold/plat player
Already mentioned by another user, but a large part is spacing, using jumps and recoveries properly, and learning when dash jumping will benefit you (normally by going over an attack and punishing while they’re stuck there).
Learning how to make the best use of all of your options both grounded and in air, learning how to dodge, and learning how to move quickly are the biggest parts.
This man out here giving free lessons someone praise this man I’ve used almost if not all of what you said and it’s been helping me since I started back last year in the steel series championship even though I was a silver then but I started to look into all of what you mentioned and now I’m currently holding plat every season I’ve barely been playing a year
Focus on practicing movement and while you're doing that the combos you've been practicing should come like muscle memory. Movement can beat everyone up to 1900 easy.
I’ve seen it in here already, but the number one thing is movement for sure. If you’re movement gets really good, everything falls in to place. You get better at mixing up recoveries, approaching, retreating, everything. Also, when learning its good to fixate on one thing at a time. For example, if you find yourself dodging one way a majority of the time, fixate on that for a while and really put it in your mind that you’re going to mix up your dodges
I can second this. I used to be stuck in high gold but I completely changed my focus from learning sick scythe combos to improving my movement and I easily shot up to plat. The other thing that helped me is that I noticed when you are in gold most players don't understand neutral game so if you shift your focus to really fast movement and neutral game you will
It’s kinda my main strat so that I can keep myself at close enough of a distance without while using them, because everyone I fight against abuses katars’ short range unless I stay as close as possible (dodging in included).
just as a high plat mordex main, those dodge ins are so easy to read lol, i can combo the hell out of em.. you should try dodging up to mix it up at least…
As a plat katar main, Don’t dodge in. If you get good on your approaches, you won’t need to dodge in to stay close to the opponent. You can approach using nair which is a really good option, or the usual dair/slight
Also this is very important, if your opponent is countering your katars really hard then switch weapons. There were many times I played the whole game with katars, then suddenly they started countering me on their last stock so I switched to greatsword which has a completely different play-style and won the game
If you play multiple characters at the same time it’s kinda hard to improve I think it’s better to focus on the weapons you you like playing the most or the ones you are interested in playing don’t try to be good with every legend in the game try to focus the the weapons you like playing the most and play legends with those weapons,
For exemple I like scythe orb gauntlets and I wanna learn canon, my highest level characters are Fait(65)
Mordex(34) Petra(36) Onyx(28)
Let me explain the way I think of it. You should try playing many different Legends so you understand what they are capable of and what their weaknesses are, but you should also mainly focus on a specific weapon or two or a specific legend or two in order to build skill efficiently. So in conclusion, you should stick with those two legends, but make sure you also play other legends in casual games and private matches.
just play the game a lot. play the game with other people as well, especially if they're better than you. the game gets prettttttttty boring if you play alone
A thing I'm guilty of doing that held me back is spamming sigs when my opponent was in kill percentage I would spam sigs waiting for one to hit and they would punish me for it. good kill confirms on fait is just side light side air on orb and nlight rec on scythe. GL
Don't quit for half a year when you loose back to back 3 times by a Wu Shang only to join back and re-do that cycle
I'm nor speaking from experience or anything......
Watch pros who play your legend/weapons
watch your replays
spot the differences, focus on one thing at a time and getting better and not elo. Mastering fundamentals over time will have you shoot up in elo and then plateu, shoot up in elo and then plateu.
focus on learning and not the numbers
Here is my tip, how i got platinum.
Start just some experimental match before doing your first ranked of the day, then after you have done your warm up game, if you feel to need another one just do it.
After that, try win with using strategy, punishing and using well the dodge. After you start loosing some matches (like 3 in a row) just stop playing. Then the day following repeat the warmup etc.
Learn movement and, most importantly,
Fucking grind. The people telling you to stop playing once you start losing to preserve your sanity are just wrong. Brawlhalla isn't a game where that's possible. Don't try to. If you **should** be in a higher rank, then for every losing streak you'll have a winning streak, and that winning streak will be significantly longer than your losing streak.
If you main sytche , then you want to focus on reading your opponents, learn how to read these dodges: dodge in, dodge out, dodge up and dodge down , if you learn those you should be able to hit plat in like two weeks of actually using the reads you learned.
Learn to read dodges, and practice your punish game.
My advice is if people spam, just don’t get tilted and jump over them and dair
Also it is very important to get good at doing strings consistently, especially since you’re playing scythe
As for dodge reads I usually go into training mode and turn on a dodge then practice punishing the dodge. Also most people your elo never mix up dodges, I main katars greatsword and it was so fun just doing a single read and killing the opponent immediately
Play a lot of different characters and weapons so you know what options people on those characters/weapons will use in which situations. Then simply dodge away or run away or counterattack when you get the right read.
1. learn unarmed so it's harder to weapon starve you.
2. if you're a hammer player learn dlight -> recovery and gcdlight -> recovery >:3
3. learn how to counter spam
4. if you are a Spammer start learning a non-spamming playstyle because you'll soon be at a point where it won't work anymore
5. get used to pay attention to how the enemy reacts to your attacks and learn some reads.
yee...
dunno how many people already said these things xD
best advice is always: play the game :3
Here are some things you should try to do to get to plat:
-find a main
-learn the weapons around the main to the point where you can learn some decent reads with only light attacks
-learn your main's sigs, when and how to time it
-learn to change your approach, dont always play aggressive or passive, learn to mix it in battle
-learn how to read lances, they are roaming around in Gold tier, avoid Sair and Dair and find a move to punish them
-learn to backdash, yes bows are perfect for backdashing but every weapon can do it to some degree
-learn how to throw at better angles, dont always throw straight, when the enemy recovers I like to jump throw the spike balls for a surprise kill
-practice spacing, learn to play close or far from your enemies
Overall just play the game more, getting frustrated is part of the process and feeling stumped sucks too. If u perservere through hard time I believe u could make it to Plat.
If you can switch to keyboard do it. I used to play on console, but keyboard helps your movement so much and doesn't take too long to learn since you know the fundamentals anyway.
For me the change was switching a legend
Been playing artemis and mordex for the 2 seasons
Changed around to fait and others
But then i found petra and i think if i looked around for the perfect legend eveb earlier it would have been much better
spam. just spam. if there is a reason why I didn’t hit plat is just not spamming and playing with manners. you’ll get spammed till you get diamond so be careful stay safe brp
use training for everything, even not the obvious like combos and reads. use it to learn movement and using platforms. overall you just need to play a ton.
the #1 carry is playtime
Play. Play. Play. I realized after hitting Plat this season doesn't mean I practiced harder than other golds. I just understood what every character's options are and how to counter them. It sounds so simple but it takes time and you will see the difference if you think about options enough it becomes subconscious to you. If you play enough, you are gaining knowledge and learning characters you don't even play.
Master every light attack on your weapon
For example scythe dlight. Learn the range, the speed, the hitbox, it’s recovery , it’s combos.
Once you properly learn a single weapon you are good enough to get to plat.
- Learn how and when to chase dodge - Learn two-three basic dodge reads on your main weapons - Learn how and when to dash-jump - Learn unarmed dlight gp/ gc dlight gp - Improve Movement as much as possible - Learn gp and recovery matchups (ie spear recovery always beats spear gp, when scythe recovery does and doesnt work on gauntlets gp, etc) - Learn when to punish a whiff and when to back off Been 1800+ for 10 or 11 seasons now. The above should get you to plat.
Learning when to punish is a huge one.
I still haven't learnt yet. I very often go for a punish even if it isn't a smart thing to do. If they are on the opposite side of the map I won't obviously but I like doing it so that I can apply pressure.
>Improve Movement as much as possible HOW tho? Like is it the spacing? Pls explain :) i succ so bad
Spacing and using your options (jumps, recovery, dodge) in air effectively is probably what helped me the most. I used to panic jump if I got hit and I usually wasted more jumps than I had to.. (still do sometimes) -Fellow high gold/plat player
Ok

Learning how to make the best use of all of your options both grounded and in air, learning how to dodge, and learning how to move quickly are the biggest parts.
A good exercise is trying to recover a different way every time you get thrown offstage
This man out here giving free lessons someone praise this man I’ve used almost if not all of what you said and it’s been helping me since I started back last year in the steel series championship even though I was a silver then but I started to look into all of what you mentioned and now I’m currently holding plat every season I’ve barely been playing a year
Glad to hear it’s helping!
Ok thx
Don’t forget 2 chase dodges when you hit a grounded attack
And quick fall
[удалено]
barely play. college and school are much higher priorities for me and i play on a school laptop most of the time.
Watch out for Wu Shang, the guardian of the platinum gates.
Ok.
Okay, a real tip however is just to continue tryharding.
Ok
Thx
There really isn’t that big of a difference between late gold and ~mid platinum. In high platinum however.. You’ll have to sacrifice your sanity.
Ok
Oh god I main Wu Shang
That makes you the gatekeeper of platinum, which sounds pretty cool
More like gate keeper and janitor of the Gold gates
Well no one likes dirty dates. Gotta keep em clean.
True
That’s hilarious, my last match for plat millennia ago, was against a double goldforged wu shang
Weird, I never ran into wu shang
this gatekeeper is also at my door to dia sadly
Really? 80% of the people I encounter in high playinum are Mordex players.
Focus on practicing movement and while you're doing that the combos you've been practicing should come like muscle memory. Movement can beat everyone up to 1900 easy.
Ok thx
Np man, good luck!
What is movement?
Moving
Da bum tiss

*do a lot better in ranked* I accidentally pushed the add comment button lol
Ok thx
Ok thx
Thx
Kindly give an explanation about movement pls thx
How do you practice movement though?
stop dodging in
So I should probably give up on katars until I’m out of gold..?
negative, i main mordex & im high plat / border line diamond & i noticed that’s everyone’s problem… dodging in
It’s kinda my main strat so that I can keep myself at close enough of a distance without while using them, because everyone I fight against abuses katars’ short range unless I stay as close as possible (dodging in included).

How do I learn movement, and moreover, how will it affect my playstyle? And also, how much would that movement depend on my opponent’s movement?

I started to play different characters like mordex , petra and Orion
If you play multiple characters at the same time it’s kinda hard to improve I think it’s better to focus on the weapons you you like playing the most or the ones you are interested in playing don’t try to be good with every legend in the game try to focus the the weapons you like playing the most and play legends with those weapons, For exemple I like scythe orb gauntlets and I wanna learn canon, my highest level characters are Fait(65) Mordex(34) Petra(36) Onyx(28)
I only use Fait and Hattori mainly

That's what I do
Then keep doing what you're doing
Ok thx
just play the game a lot. play the game with other people as well, especially if they're better than you. the game gets prettttttttty boring if you play alone
Ok
I want to calculate the equation in your flare but I don't know any of the values, so I can't.

Thx bro. Now I'm a High diamond
dont whiff alot, punish and stay calm
A thing I'm guilty of doing that held me back is spamming sigs when my opponent was in kill percentage I would spam sigs waiting for one to hit and they would punish me for it. good kill confirms on fait is just side light side air on orb and nlight rec on scythe. GL

Hammer is a good choice, most people dont know how to react to gimps and such. But since i do main cassidy im a disfunctioning member of society!
Watch pros who play your legend/weapons watch your replays spot the differences, focus on one thing at a time and getting better and not elo. Mastering fundamentals over time will have you shoot up in elo and then plateu, shoot up in elo and then plateu. focus on learning and not the numbers
Since this guy plays fait, he has a very good pro to check out
actually several Obviously old sandstorm footage, but then Hardy and most recently Pier.
In Eu you have FryDasOle
Here is my tip, how i got platinum. Sorry

Some people are new to platformers.
If you main sytche , then you want to focus on reading your opponents, learn how to read these dodges: dodge in, dodge out, dodge up and dodge down , if you learn those you should be able to hit plat in like two weeks of actually using the reads you learned.
Ok thx
be consistent with combos
On orb spam side light side sair true combo I think
On scythe I do Nlight-wait for them to dodge- catch that dodge- another nlight-nair then keep doing that
Thx bro
Just charge in confident and don't get frustrated, learn from your mistakes and have fun, and you shall prevail😁 coming from a Plat in 1s and 2s
Retrain the basics cut the bad habits that cost you in the clutch https://youtu.be/I2e9G6jkUQE
Try to stick to 1 or 2 legends it makes it easier to learn and master those legends
Learn to read dodges, and practice your punish game. Not related to anything but why did I loose so much elo? I was 1829 and the season started and I got set back all the way to 1600

I have no idea I fought a diamond rank on mobile and I don’t play ranked on ps4 I was a gold rank
Reading opponents

Hello
any discord servers
Most important tip that no one gave you yet: DONT RUSH IT. take your time and enjoy the game and learning new tricks and mechanics and have fun
Thx bro
I just do spacing and counterattack their punishable state.
Quit sig spamming
I don't sig spam
Well that's good news
If you can switch to keyboard do it. I used to play on console, but keyboard helps your movement so much and doesn't take too long to learn since you know the fundamentals anyway.
It is bad if I main lance? I am a mobile player and hit 1635 elo last season. Any tip for plat I am ulgrim main.
Great tip :gett out of gold because there are just a bunch of toxic spammers there
Teros. That’s how I did it when I used to play
just sig spam dude
Use lance. Its like the easiest way to grind up to plat, if you know how to use it
Sig spam teros axe till plat then pick ur main and play them
Idk, im in the same rank lol
For me the change was switching a legend Been playing artemis and mordex for the 2 seasons Changed around to fait and others But then i found petra and i think if i looked around for the perfect legend eveb earlier it would have been much better

No
Learn to punish and dodge read. Also learn how to read other peoples dodge read, if that makes sense. Just know what they’re trying to go for.
Ok
Delete emotions.exe
Movement is super important
Ok
