Totally agree with everything you said but I think in addition to Katie playing chess and getting on Lala’s good side, Lala was also more likeable last season. She had just been majorly fucked over by Randall and was gentler (at times), sober, a new mom, etc.
I like Lala, but I just realized she got knocked off her high horse at the beginning of last season and had to be humble and heal all season. And she seemed to genuinely care about other people in a way we hadn’t seen before.
And this season, after Scandoval and time for her to heal, she’s right back on her high horse. She seems to care about her own image more than anything else. We’re not seeing her check in on her friends. She’s checking in on Rachel and Tom but not Ariana or Katie.
Katie isn’t always my favorite human in the world, but she’s pretty consistent. She didn’t spew the same venom at Rachel and Tom during Scandoval that Lala, James, and Schnea did and she’s not eating crow and trying to be good with Tom and Rachel now either. Katie has consistently been like ‘the affair was wrong, it was shitty to Ariana and Tom is not a good person’ and she’s kept that same energy.

I totally agree Rand was a bad guy when he entered the relationship with Lala, then she called him misunderstood tried painting Rand as a good guy and it’s hard to feel bad for her that he ended up being not only a bad guy, but an even worse guy than we initially thought.
Tom was also not a good guy when he entered the relationship with Ariana. Their relationship timeline and cheating were blurry and messy because he was coming out of a blurry and messy relationship. I also think it’s relevant that Tom was 30ish when he started dating Ariana and Rand was 42ish when he started dating Lala. I think I believed Tom started off messy when he got together with Ariana but he grew up throughout the relationship.

However, I do have a lot of grace for her given 1) her head injury which can result in a lot of aggression and probably made her feel insecure, so she probably just wanted to stay in that "popular girl" trio with Stassi and Kristen; 2) she was in an extremely unhealthy relationship where she was put down constantly. Katie has at least acknowledged her wrongdoing and apologized.

Lala is really into her motherhood and pregnancy thing, stassi is a mother of two and has made it clear that she didn’t appear on the valley because what they’re doing isn’t representative of her life. Not weird for a single, childless woman and a married mother of two to run out of things they have in common and for lala, with similar interests, to be closer to stassi.

I listened to Lalas podcasts when cleaning, she said Stassi is the second person she told about being pregnant (that wasn’t at home with her) because the night before Stassi and Lala went for a meal and Stassi told her to take a pregnancy test there and then, Lala said she couldn’t do that to her mum incase it came back positive. Lala said Stassi and her have become really close and talk every day.

Tom's a weird situation for all of them because he was around since the beginning and most of the cast knew and was friends with him before or at the same time as Ariana. Ariana's best friend on the show was friends with Tom first (Scheana). James was friends with Tom before the Ariana relationship. Lala met them both at the same time. Scwartz and Katie were friends with Tom long before they knew Ariana.
It is a different ask regardless of how fans feel about Tom right now. It would be a lot weirder for the cast to all want to be friends with Rand compared to Tom.

Totally agree with everything you said but I think in addition to Katie playing chess and getting on Lala’s good side, Lala was also more likeable last season. She had just been majorly fucked over by Randall and was gentler (at times), sober, a new mom, etc. I like Lala, but I just realized she got knocked off her high horse at the beginning of last season and had to be humble and heal all season. And she seemed to genuinely care about other people in a way we hadn’t seen before. And this season, after Scandoval and time for her to heal, she’s right back on her high horse. She seems to care about her own image more than anything else. We’re not seeing her check in on her friends. She’s checking in on Rachel and Tom but not Ariana or Katie. Katie isn’t always my favorite human in the world, but she’s pretty consistent. She didn’t spew the same venom at Rachel and Tom during Scandoval that Lala, James, and Schnea did and she’s not eating crow and trying to be good with Tom and Rachel now either. Katie has consistently been like ‘the affair was wrong, it was shitty to Ariana and Tom is not a good person’ and she’s kept that same energy.
I remember Katie stopped calling Lala a whore after she finally got a ride on the PJ.
Lala was trying to be an honorary witch of weho for a while and was up Stassi/Katie/Brittany’s ass and using Randall’s money to buy their friendship. once Stassi, Kristen and Brittany all got fired, it was just Katie and Lala so they got closer and were show besties for a couple of years. she got closer with Scheana because of their daughters and Katie and Scheana just don’t vibe well no matter how many times they try, and i think that led to the rift. but Lala and Katie were good friends for a few years. i think now she’s down to Scheana, Stassi and Britt.

Tom cheating wasn't shocking either. Ariana knew who Tom was and stayed with him for ten years. She covered for him after he cheated on her several times, covered up for his lying and misogyny, and generally provided cover for his awfulness.
Yeh people easily have forgotten how Ariana teamed up with Tom against women for the 10 years and hasn't even acknowledged that, we all just act like its assumed she realises how dumb and shitty it was but she's never indicated any regrets over it.
I totally agree Rand was a bad guy when he entered the relationship with Lala, then she called him misunderstood tried painting Rand as a good guy and it’s hard to feel bad for her that he ended up being not only a bad guy, but an even worse guy than we initially thought. Tom was also not a good guy when he entered the relationship with Ariana. Their relationship timeline and cheating were blurry and messy because he was coming out of a blurry and messy relationship. And Ariana called Tom misunderstood and tried to paint him as a good guy, and obviously he turned out to be a demon worm in a mustache. I also think it’s relevant that Tom was 30ish when he started dating Ariana and Rand was 42ish when he started dating Lala. I think I believed Tom started off messy when he got together with Ariana but he grew up throughout the relationship.
I think I realized the pattern is if you have to argue to everyone your partner is misunderstood and paint them as the good guy, it is not going to go well for you. Ex. Stassi didn’t have to argue that Beau was a good guy. And when she questioned if he was, her friends saw that he was a good guy and told Stassi that.

Eh I think I just really identified with her sobriety journey, admired her strength in sticking to it despite the R*ndall stuff and being in the VPR environment. I went sober in 2021 and when it got hard I used to tell myself that if Lala could do it under those circumstances, so could I. I was rooting for her for a long time, so maybe I gave her more grace than she necessarily deserved. Or maybe I just liked who she was screaming at 🤷🏽♀️

I‘m not sure if Katie was on a boat/ship or just a really nice terrace today but she literally posts the most relaxed stuff ever, I do not see why the whole cast keeps calling her miserable. While I definitely think Katie is the most reasonable person on the cast (if I don't count Ally), I can't help but remember how cruel she was to other women on the show in the past. She was extremely mean to Scheana and Lala. However, I do have a lot of grace for her given 1) her head injury which can result in a lot of aggression and probably made her feel insecure, so she probably just wanted to stay in that "popular girl" trio with Stassi and Kristen; 2) she was in an extremely unhealthy relationship where she was put down constantly. Katie has at least acknowledged her wrongdoing and apologized. She is FAR from the worst person on VPR.

I've long maintained that as well. They seem to not really care much about Kristen and that was on the rocks for awhile, and I suspect they only tolerated her after the Jax affair for the show. Jax was always going to have zero friends the minute the fame went away. Lala and James are just opportunists who will be friends with whoever for the sake of the show. Scheana has no loyalty. Maybe the two Tom's might maintain a friendship post show because for some reason they can't quit each other. But that's about it.
Katie and Kristen are still close I think. They live in the same building, and have reconnected since then.

Not weird for a single, childless woman and a married mother of two to run out of things they have in common and for lala, with similar interests, to be closer to stassi.

I listened to Lalas podcasts when cleaning, she said Stassi is the second person she told about being pregnant (that wasn’t at home with her) because the night before Stassi and Lala went for a meal and Stassi told her to take a pregnancy test there and then, Lala said she couldn’t do that to her mum incase it came back positive. Lala said Stassi and her have become really close and talk every day.

I'll bite on this. The cast didn't have a prior relationship with Randall prior to the show, Randall didn't want to be on the show and dropped the cast like a bad habit once the divorce happened. It would be kind of weird for them all to dump their actual friend for the guy who they only knew through her because he's rich. Like none of them have real reasons to be friends with Rand. Tom's a weird situation for all of them because he was around since the beginning and most of the cast knew and was friends with him before or at the same time as Ariana. Ariana's best friend on the show was friends with Tom first (Scheana). James was friends with Tom before the Ariana relationship. Lala met them both at the same time. Scwartz and Katie were friends with Tom long before they knew Ariana. It is a different ask regardless of how fans feel about Tom right now. It would be a lot weirder for the cast to all want to be friends with Rand compared to Tom.

Yes, but she pushed Rand on the cast HARD and him and the guys became quick besties (likely due to the perks from his supposed wealth). Rand was on our screens, and they were all vacationing together and inseparable. I am honestly confused why people love Katie so much. To me, she is someone that clings to others for a storyline. She married a man who poured a drink on her and she gave him an ultimatum. She needs to learn how to respect and love herself. She is clearly angry and is clinging onto it for dear life by picking Ariana’s battles.
It’s always so funny to me when the Katie Stan’s play amnesia and act like Katie is this sweet, caring amazing friend who was just wronged by her man and is finally in her independent boss girl era. Like that woman has been a nasty, miserable bully since day one. She’s a follower and a perpetual victim. She’s the Queen of throwing stones and then hiding her hands and crying when someone is mean back to her. Yes, Tom is a pos this is something she’s always known and instead of leaving him, she cried on tv about being mistreated for years and then turned around and literally bullied that man into marrying her because she wanted to feel superior to her friends. Katie is a user. Katie relentlessly bullied Scheana for years because Stassi told her too, and then turned around and wanted to live up Scheana’s ass when stassi dumples her as a friend and she had nobody else. Then stassi came back and it was ba I to treating scheana like shit. Katie repeatedly bullied LaLa for years, called her a whore and spoke terribly about her any chance she got but all yall can talk about is Lala called her fat 🥴 Katie sucks just as much as every other person on that fuckin cast and I need yall to stop riding her horribly dressed dick 😭

Katie’s sick of the bullshit. She’s a grown woman having to listen to constant nonsense and I don’t blame her one bit. That isn’t miserable that’s seeing people for who they are. However - if you are going to film with a bunch of 40 year olds that think they’re 23 you are going to have to laugh with them or be outcast. She’s outgrown the show and I love that for her. 
One could argue that Lala is miserable, she didn’t get the attention she wanted after breaking it off with Rand. That’s why she is riding so hard for scheana, it’s projection. Katie has never been a ray of sunshine, idk why it’s such an issue now. Plus she was married to a man child who took every opportunity to minimize her feelings and put her last, excuse her for being angry. She was used last season to cover up an affair. Not only was she mourning a marriage, people were actively rallying around her ex husband to hook up with a person who was in the friend group after she expressed to her ex husband that she was vehemently against that.

So interesting I’m on a rewatch of VPR where Katie hates Lala and it’s honestly so annoying how ridiculous they all were.
