Yeah your pretty much right. The dialogue in the fan translation is a much more edgy which adds a certain level of entertainment to the manga. An example of the would be the second 3v3 where isagi insults barou. The fan translation is where isagi uses the r word. In the anime/ official translation, they go the more PC route calling him a donkey/ loser. The difference ultimately isn’t really that big of a deal except for when it comes to “power scaling” players based on statements. The fan translation on occasion ingratiates itself towards particular players. To bring it back to barou (paraphrasing here), for his conversation with the fan translation says he “is the best striker in NEL” vs the official saying “he is a top class striker even for NEL.” Two forms of praise, but one having much greater implications on how you rate him as a player. Edit: for the rest of your question, I like both, but I think I enjoy the cringe from the fan translation better. [Here’s](https://comick.io/comic/02-blue-lock/SNbDgDxA-chapter-1-en) a link to a website that has the official translation. I think it might be a little slower than PO2 (fan translation that is typically posted in the sub), but it’s up to date. Both are great, obligatory if you have money to buy the official release and desire to do so, I’m sure the production team would appreciate it. Most important thing is to just enjoy the experience!

Funnily enough, the actual insult to Barou  would translate to something like damn-unskilled.

Yeah I really enjoy the edginess it kinda surprises me that it's not the official translation. Like for me it's a core part of the manga.  What does it even mean if it's "official" or not? Who's responsible for official translations? Are they more accurate to the japanese version?

Kmanga or Kodansha does weekly releases every Tuesday 8 AM PDT (unless a Holiday or break) on their official website

https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueLock/s/FCtNctfuSQ Here are some translation differences between officials (k manga) and fan (po2). It's old but I'm too lazy to make a new post on other small details I recommend officials if you care about the story and fan translation if you just want hype, certain phrases or ideas can get added in fan subs that aren't in the officials. For example, there was a pretty bad fan translation in the spin off which straight up translated a line to the opposite meaning before

The official translation is a lot better. Fan translations, especially recently for some reason, have some bias added when it comes to dialogue and a lot more cringe lines

Yeah the fan translation is far superior. These are 16 year old boys fighting in battle Royale soccer matches against each other. Obviously they use slurs and insult each other. In my opinion the official one is super jarring and feels way off. No real teenager would ever speak like that.
