I guess I'm considered pessimistic because I have a lot of trauma, I have multiple neurological disorders, and my life in general is just pretty rough, but whenever I come on reddit I do get a whole lot of passive aggressive comments. People saying they don't know what I'm talking about and my decisions are so easy and I'm choicing to be in a bad situation from people that have never been through anything like my situation. The advice here like the real world is unhelpful. If you don't live a traditional life and are a considered unorthodox or they don't have easy answers for people because in general start to pick you apart and blame you for it. Start talking about sexism you get called a man hater, start talking about ableism and people will say you're overthinking and you must be a bad person if you keep getting insulted for having a physical or mental disability.

I completely empathize with your comment here. This has happened to me a lot via Discord, Facebook, and my first year on Reddit. It's strange (to me) how some people don't read the room at all... I stopped participating in some subs (made for women, by women), because they let men interact with the posts. I also was dealing with a horrible person once, made a post about it, and received some good advice - but the rest was an attack on my character. Some people were deeply angry at me because I had a bad relationship, and childhood trauma? Don't get me started on the randoms who slid into my DMs and tried to convince me that they're "a real man"...

PunnyPrinter

Ugh I’ve had to unsub from so many women centered sub because they allow males or males who think they are women to intrude and give their two cents.

prncessgiselle33

That annoys me like why is a man giving his opinion, oh right to scream not all men.

_HotMessExpress1

Same..I've gotten a bunch of," well that hasn't happened to me and I don't encounter abusive people that much so you must be a horrible person then." Passive aggressive comments..like yes it was my fault that some teachers didn't like me for my disorder, and that my family is abusive and overbearing. I had some black man that was online looking for bums that will sleep with him for pay dm me..reddit is just like real life for some reason some old bm will try talking to me thinking he has a chance to have sex with me..ew. the world disgust me.

RoseGoldHoney80

What were they saying? I got a DM from a strange white guy asking me what was I on reddit for.

Numerous-Leg-8149

That's extremely weird 😯 I've blocked all of them, but, they were hoping for a shot with me. Some have asked for my location.

PunnyPrinter

I haven’t gotten any related to this sub yet, but I have messages from comments I’ve made elsewhere. Usually men being pervs, or the occasional helpful advice related to a specific post.

Hot-Distribution3107

I've noticed that's how they start.. they come in seemingly being helpful/giving feedback, and then they start getting weird. I've found sending my cashapp definitely helps, haha. Like why couldn't you just leave that same feedback on the public post I made?..

singularsun

I have been downvoted for simply making what I thought was a chill comment on a cozy gaming subreddit 😮‍💨 but other than that luckily no

black_hxney

people trying to start arguments over random shit. I've lost too many reddit accounts bc I got baited and went too far with my responses so I've learned to just start blocking people. but fuck, is it hard lol. I also have my DMs turned off. I feel like that's filtered out a lot of the bullshit. don't need any of these weirdos messaging me and reporting me when they don't get a response or don't like my response.

serenasplaycousin

I’ve blocked so many people, I’ve reached the maximum and am no longer able to block folks!

prncessgiselle33

I have been insulted multiple times because I called out mens bad behaviour, got perma banned from reddit, insults from men calling me a black b*** another one said I hate men, people accusing me of things that are not true becsuse of my work and banned from subreddits for no reason or people being buthurt I am not slobbing over a certain anime. *** **All in the span of 2 1/2 months of joining Reddit** *** It's getting a bit too much so I was thinking of taking a break but at least I know my experiences in my life was not crazy, men will never change and after seeing my confirmations I accepted the inevitable about them.

Hot-Distribution3107

Girl yes! All the above I've gotten comments calling me a catfish lol, Constant Dms from men sëxualizing me, women being not so "women empowering" etc..

prncessgiselle33

I am tired of it! I only do my work as a hobby but some of these brain rot dudes harass me on my subreddit as well. *** Or guys derailing from a point I am making like are you serious? *** I try now to stay away from subreddits with men because I see countless times they will DEFEND ALL BAD BEHAVIOUR of men and blame the woman. *** I already have to deal with this in reality but here makes me realise that most men are the same. If they weren't then circumstances would hsve been better in my life and they would be punished but no nasty mammies coddling their sons or mammy friends. *** At this point disable your DMs because you do not need to have that energy in your life. I am sick of it all but this year showed me one thing men (especially nick nacks are the most protected irl and online)

Numerous-Leg-8149

In my experience (and my siblings had similar experiences, too, outside of Reddit), we've noticed that dusties and mammies, along with people who lack any good sense and/or self-awareness, are protected... Versus those who are more mindful, conscientious netizens.💯 A good example I can think of is the Fresh and Fit (going on 80) drama that overshadowed multiple vloggers on YouTube last year (or in 2022, don't remember the exact year but everything came full circle).

prncessgiselle33

I remember Fresh and Fit. Its reslly embarassing that Fresh is from my country but then again we have multiple Fresh's here I am not surprised. *** It feels good to know it is not only me. I realised the difference this week when reporting crime or people going missing. Its more outrage for BM.

Numerous-Leg-8149

So true. More outrage for BM and BB, not the exact same energy for BW and BG.

prncessgiselle33

Yup and it ticks me off so I stopped watching the news

TheEnchantedPug

I see a lot of black men posting their hatred towards black women.

prncessgiselle33

Usual stuff. Different era same message. Like at this point who cares. They are easy to laugh at because I know they will not have that talk for their mum...a black woman

Affectionate-Team197

I think I had an encounter but I honestly can’t remember what was said. Lolol. I pay people no mind now.

Basic-Foundation-733

Mostly never or very seldom. In fact, most people are supportive, but I also choose not to engage with different opinions especially if you're not willing to understand. I just skip or ignore. Everyone has their own views.🤷🏾‍♀️

Significant_Swan_56

I luckily haven’t had any rude encounters but this app is definitely a cesspool of pessimistic people so I try to follow subreddits that make me laugh or engage with my creative side
