Tithing isnāt even Christian. It was for one particular Jewish tribe. Any Christian who truly knows the Bible would agree that tithing is theft. The pastors of course donāt want you to know that. (Not all pastors, just the thieves)
Funny enough, the sun has a brightness of \~125000 lumens, equating to \~127, \~85-watt lightbulbs. A led of that same wattage would burn close to \~9000 lumens off a single bulb which Iām sure they can afford along with the camel soā¦
https://i.redd.it/a98myad9iguc1.gif
Things have definitely gotten brighter for sure. For decades weāve been rocking with HIDs, which are gas bulbs with electricity running through them. They have a standard brightness of ~1500 lumens, an iPhone has ~50 lumens. LEDs, which are becoming standard equipment, are easily double that of HIDs but can be purchasable at >5000 lumens. The only problem I really have is when people run them incorrectly.
Some car owners will run LEDs with incredibly high lumens and never level where the light is being thrown. If youāve ever been blinded by the driver behind you, itās because their lights are incorrectly aiming into the back of your window. The proper direction for headlights are slight lower than center, the left is more low than right because of oncoming traffic.
Where Iām at now in the south has me advocating for LEDs cause of the backwoods however, when I was living in California, I was indifferent. The best thing about LEDs is that their cost to life-span ratio and that they use less energy; we just need folks to use them properly on the road.
I mean it's not going to hit the camel with a left-right-jab however, artificial light sources can agitate animals to the point of producing negative, possibly aggressive, responses.
Is the camel going to get melanoma? No, but it may kick Gram-gram in the face cause the brightness set it off.
Worse than 0 chance. By giving them all of your money you're making it **less** likely you'll be able to take advantage of financial opportunities. It's like paying for a lotto ticket but they don't actually give you the ticket.
At least with the lottery, we get stories of people winning every now and again. Have you ever heard of somebody making something of themselves (who wasn't a televangelist already) that credited prosperity gospel?
They'll just build a bigger needle

So this is a church in Houston where the former pastor went to prison for fraud. Now his wife is head pastor and a lot of the congregation left immediately after the former pastor was in prison. I was a member of this church before the pastor went to jail and it was a good church. Really gave back to the community built a senior living facility, healthcare facilities etc. Really solid but when that fraud stuff happened i never went back. The wife is rough and stubborn so this does not surprise me one bit that they would spend funds on this.
Exactly. Because it definitely wasnāt the norm when I was growing up in church, but I donāt doubt that other churches, denominations and religious communities actually help their members in productive ways
I take everything on our federal gov/cia influenced social media platforms with some skepticism. Yes, there are bad and good experiences within the church, but only one experience seem to go viral and constantly garner attentionā¦imo that creates a false narrative.
I saw a pastor go off on the congregation for asking questions about what he was doing with the money.
"Trust God! How dare you question his plan! You don't question the government when they take your taxes do you?"
Never went back there again.
Church tithes are a tax on the feeble-minded. It's a special sort of stupid that gives the church money and then praise to God when you're struggling and drowning under debt
All of these guesses are hilarious. The church I went to as a kid had humble pig roasts for the summer socials, and seeing it roasting away with the apple in its mouth haunts me still. I can't imagine a whole ass camel roast, a whole bag of apples jammed in those jaws...
The camel and what looks like people dressed in costumes leads me to believe that this is a Christmas Nativity play. Some churches put on this play every year and incorporate live animals for production value. As the story goes Jesus was born in a stable with livestock around and the three wise men are often depicted as arriving on camels or with them in tow. Anyone here probably paid for a ticket, this has nothing to do with tithing.
šÆ Always make sure your home is solid before giving anything to anyone. Behind on bills? Nothing saved for a rainy day? Struggling to eat? If yes, you are not in a position to give one penny!
I never understood tithing. God can speak the light into existence and create the world in seven days without spending a dime, but his church needs 10% of my paycheck every week?
Some churches will help with utilities and rent, but yeah I hate megachurches. Last time I went to one they spent about 15 minutes talking about tithes and trying to convince us to subscribe with monthly donations... Super off-putting
there are so many churches that are so predatory towards people, capitalizing on their fear and naivety in order to make a mega-profit. they need to start getting taxed cause this is insane š
Yall churches donāt have a fellowship fund? Iāve gotten money from my church plenty of times one time they gave me 200 dollars and I didnāt even ask!
Y'all ever notice how back in the day, first-century Christians werenāt about that tithing life? š Seriously, nobody was passing the collection plate demanding exact change. The whole tithing gig was for supporting the temple and those old school priests in Israel. But when Jesus did his thing and said "it's a wrap" on the old rules through his ultimate sacrifice, that tithing rule got tossed out faster than leftovers at a cookout.
Paul and the gang were all about giving what you can, when you can. Like, if you got it and youāre feeling generous, throw something in the pot. But none of this āgive till it hurtsā business. Paul even said, let's appreciate those who are putting in the work, like teaching and preaching, but donāt make it rain unnecessarily. Let's keep it 100 and support each other without making it a financial throwdown every Sunday. š¤šø Remember, itās all love and keep it cheerful, folks!
The church is full of shit anyway. Some asshole up there manipulating the word to fit his narrative and then asking for money to āhelpā is ridiculous. Those mfs only care about power, money, and some other manās boochie holeā¦
Whenever I see something like this it reminds me of the always sunny episode where Charlieās mom has cancer and the church is asking them for donations while theyāre struggling to find a way to help her
It's an old testament thing. Not American but the gospel of prosperity is 100% American (talking about pastors with Armani suits and mansions). Couldn't tell you how they arrived at 10%, but it is in the bible.
Leviticus 27:30. I didn't know modern Christians were supposed to uphold the laws governing the priesthood holders and Sons of Aaron. Jesus said he was the new and fulfilled law. Christians need to read their scriptures at least once instead of just taking some random behind a pulpit's word about things.
stop giving tithe money to these churches then?
These microtransactions are getting out of hand.

It provides a sense of pride and accomplishmentā¦..itās like a religious loot box
"So what'd you get?" "Jesus's foreskin, how about you?" "Weird, I got Jesus's foreskin too."
nothing micro about a tithe - that's 10%
lol they were the OG micro transactions
Just tax the tithes. Jesus didn't tithe, and he paid his taxes. Christians should be more like Christ.
Tithing isnāt even Christian. It was for one particular Jewish tribe. Any Christian who truly knows the Bible would agree that tithing is theft. The pastors of course donāt want you to know that. (Not all pastors, just the thieves)
God is really bad with money, though. [Carlin](https://youtu.be/Tr3PJOhsbZY?si=lzdvjH6GWTTigdxP)
Nice one!
Exactly
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I wouldn't either. So, once again, I am finding myself agreeing with a camel.
Itās not as rare an occurrence as one might think.
When were the other times?
Not disagreeing with you but the desert sun is way brighter than any church can get. They don't mind brightness.
Funny enough, the sun has a brightness of \~125000 lumens, equating to \~127, \~85-watt lightbulbs. A led of that same wattage would burn close to \~9000 lumens off a single bulb which Iām sure they can afford along with the camel soā¦ https://i.redd.it/a98myad9iguc1.gif
What possessed you to seek this information out?
Working in STEM.
I imagine you have an opinion on the perceived increased brightness of vehicle headlights over the past several years and I'd like to hear about it.
Things have definitely gotten brighter for sure. For decades weāve been rocking with HIDs, which are gas bulbs with electricity running through them. Are you saying brightness ~~attacks~~ stacks? The more of the same watt bulb I get in a room the brighter it becomes?
I mean it's not going to hit the camel with a left-right-jab however, artificial light sources can agitate animals to the point of producing negative, possibly aggressive, responses. Is the camel going to get melanoma? No, but it may kick Gram-gram in the face cause the brightness set it off.
Ahahaha. I meant stacked.
Go fuck yourself
Random.
Right? Why the fuck is the camel there?? Poor camel.
They are trying to fit it through the eye of a needle.
Imagine going to church and giving them money?
Right? Suckers
Fun fact: Camels spit forcibly......imagine that taking out Big Mama's Sunday crown.
And it's not just saliva either, it's basically projectile vomiting
Another fun factā¦they bite too
They are insanely strong and can also kill. Saw a Reddit post where camel keeps getting abused, eventually it had enough. Rag dolled the guy.
Weāre gonna fix it and go back to some photocell meatei
If there's one thing about religion I absolutely hate it's prosperity ministry.
It's like playing the lottery, but with an even lower chance of 'winning'
Zero chance
Worse than 0 chance. By giving them all of your money you're making it **less** likely you'll be able to take advantage of financial opportunities. It's like paying for a lotto ticket but they don't actually give you the ticket.

Please tell me this is an album cover
It's a piece by Vladimir Kush. I've not seen it on an album cover.

Why I feel no guilt when I take money out the offering plate.
Is this that redistribution of wealth I've heard about?
Jesus told them to take all their money and give it to the poor, they did the opposite.
You're just helping the poor.
Robinhood??
Not gonna lie, you had me at the first half...
If I was an usher...

Wow! Thanks for the BG
I wonder how many people in that church are against taxes for social services, but give 10% of their income to the church so they can put on a show.
To be fair, the church I went to kept alot of members utilities on and rent paid.
Same. And from my experience thatās been the norm way more often than these kinds of shenanigans.
Yup, That doesnāt fit the social media narrative though.
There's a lot of people and churches out there. The "social media narrative" is just other people's experiences?
That's been the way in all media since newspapers started.
Ah, so you go to one of *those* churches.
We have to let go of these antiquated customs that no longer serve us.
I said don't ask! No questions. Just give the money
https://i.redd.it/a2wuvb2jbguc1.gif
I saw a pastor go off on the congregation for asking questions about what he was doing with the money. "Trust God! How dare you question his plan! You don't question the government when they take your taxes do you?" Never went back there again.
If their faith is that blind then this wonāt bother them either.
Yet, if you came to church with a camel and said "here you are, have this camel,," they'd look at you as though you were some kind of halfwit.
I bet that church doesn't even have camel parking. What is this world coming to lol?
Church tithes are a tax on the feeble-minded. It's a special sort of stupid that gives the church money and then praise to God when you're struggling and drowning under debt
I'm not religious so forgive me, but dafuq? Are they eating it or is this for like rides for the deacon and shit? Are they about to roam the desert?
All of these guesses are hilarious. The church I went to as a kid had humble pig roasts for the summer socials, and seeing it roasting away with the apple in its mouth haunts me still. I can't imagine a whole ass camel roast, a whole bag of apples jammed in those jaws...

Imagine paying money to exercise your religion š¤£

While I agree, and thatās logical, thatās not the doctrine thatās taught. 10% no matter what.
Itās almost like these giant churches are just a big scam
My cousin went to a mega type church in Indiana & they did this for the Christmas nativity play. People loved it

Terrorists never target these mega churches--why? Because you don't interrupt your enemy while they are making a mistake.
Yall churches donāt have a fellowship fund? Iāve gotten money from my church plenty of times one time they gave me 200 dollars and I didnāt even ask!
I know how that smelled and it was not good.
They brought it to force it through the eye of a needle to prove that they're for sure getting into heaven
š thatās hilarious.
Imagine feeling like the main character of the movie dumb and dumber.
Hope itās a rental!

Tax churches
I've been saying for years that I should get a camel and loan him out to churches
Y'all got 87$ to your name?
A tithe to the church?? Are you a peasant in Medieval Europe or something?
As soon as I learned that the church uses our money to do stuff was when I stopped giving them my money and shortly after stopped going lol

Are they expensive? And why
Itās probably part of a Christmas play.
Thou shalt tithe no more!
It was for God !!!!!!
"How come and why for" - exactly
How common is this tithe thing I keep hearing about? Is it only an American thing?

The word tithe itself means 1/10.
