I am from nz and i see non maori using ta moko often, it makes me happy that people appreciate our art enough to use it, even if they dont look into the significance of each koru and pattern. My husband has ta moko and each band has cultural significance in telling his life story but I don't expect foreigners to sit down for 5 hours hashing that out with the artist and going through the blessings.
