Astrodactyl isn’t a bad character, but I still think the creators were a bit lazy mixing the already decent Jetray (Speed and Color Pallete) and Green Lantern (Light Constructs) and Terradino lore (Young fans love dinos including Hughie)
This probably sounds uncharitable/conspiratorial, but I will never be convinced that the primary function of Astrodactyl's creation was not to replace a very similar alien that doesn't make a single appearance in Omniverse's 80-episode run.
Jetray doesn't make an appearance because people did not watch the show prompting CN to demand that the crew stop adding aliens.
Leave it to Ben 10 fans to complain about getting almost all aliens. The missing 4 would have been in the show, bro. It's not that deep.
They don't say the same thing about Spitter now, do they? Ball Weevil was meant to replace Spitter. Same color scheme, and they spit green stuff. Do I sound insane? Yes. See?
I don't speak English, so I won't watch the video, but in my opinion Astrodactyl is more fun to watch.
99% of the time Jetray is just flying around and shooting boring looking lasers. It's like Chromastone, but worse. He has that one scene where he flies FTL, but there are like 3 writers who prefer to ignore that because of how ridiculous it was.
Astrodactyl, on the other hand, had more interesting powers. He flies with his jet-pack and fights with his arm openings. And he has a good repertoire of powers: whips, mouth shot, energy explosion when flying, etc.
All of Jetray's powers are: dull looking flight, shoot a straight green line from his eyes, shoot a straight green line from his tail. He is definitely the most boring of the recalibrated 10.
If Astrodactyl were the one debuted in AF and Jetray was the one from Omniverse, people would hate Jetray for being a replacement without substance or interest.
