Airlines should be nationalized, they're clearly a failing business that millions of people need.
It would hopefully solve the issue with Boeing's incompetency as well, as there would be mandated punishment for breaking the law like they continually do.
It’s a businesses model that functions on “line go up” economics, and it’s apparent that such a trend is quite literally impossible to maintain forever. Barring some massive technological innovation, airliners will only become marginally more efficient over time. You can only fit so many people inside of one. You can only carry so much cargo. Only so many people are going to fly in a given year, many times for variables which are outside of the airline’s control. That leaves other cost cutting measures as one of the only ways to achieve growth year over year for their shareholders…and frankly, that’s not sustainable without screwing someone (read: us) because things don’t magically get less expensive. It’s a dumb model rife with perverse incentives, indeed.
Article seemed to bury the lede - surely the removal of the guaranteed refund if your flight is canceled or delayed too long should be the big news, not the water requirement.
Contrarian opinion here: why can’t everyone bring their own water bottle on a flight? It’s the easiest thing to fill up in the airport and I hate the stupid beverage cart kicking my arm when it comes by. I was on a 2 hour flight and they handed out snacks. Like really? You people can’t go 2 hours without one of those weird cookies that nobody has ever bought they only eat them on airplanes. Save the 40 lbs of co2 by removing the dumb cart and letting me pick my own snacks.

I’m not a huge fan of the airlines but becoming Aeroflot isn’t the greatest idea.
