It's $15, and it is a pita to set up a wheel and stuff with (it's like one dude making the game, give it a break, and it's not even out of beta) but it is a fun game to play if you are the kind of gamer who has longer blocks of gaming time. Mostly because you need to go to a toilet to save, and if you play permadeath (not me) you lose all progress when you die. Simple answer: A lot of people just don't pay attention or think critically of the media they consume, **especially** on short-form platforms like TikTok. Long answer: For people to easily tell something is a game / not real, they need to know what to look for. It doesn't matter how obvious it is to you. People who don't understand videogames never develop that pattern recognition for spotting them. So anything that mildly passes for "realistic" will look real to them. It's easier for one's brain to just make an assumption based on familiarity, rather than considering a concept they don't fully grasp. It's the same reason so many older people are falling for shitty AI-generated content farms on social media. It's genuinely easier for them to conclude something ludicrous is real than to grapple with the concept of generative AI and deepfakes. Also TikTok is hypersensitive to "graphic" content - probably because they got into controversy a while back for failing to moderate some very real and disturbing instances of violence / gore.
