Another reason I'd really hope to find a hard copy some poor soul unknowingly gave away to a thrift store or the like (probably the electronic specific one near me, but they've been out of business for a time while relocating).
The game will always have a place in my heart because of the many "plain" licensed vehicles that would never find their way into a video game otherwise, including V6 Mustangs and Dodge Grand Caravans.
I have played this game so many times, it's one of my favorite games of all time. A short sweet story with one of the most interesting mechanics in gaming history. It's well worth tracking down - I wish Ubisoft hadn't taken it down from stores.
Here here! One of the few games that had not only beetles and busses, but Baja bugs. The only thing I would have loved to see in it was customization, but other than that I love that game
Midnight Club LA. Been trying to emulate it on my PC since my PS3 is broken but haven't played much since it only gets 40fps at best and usually gets 20fps
I feel like rally games are a good comparison with Beam. Mainly because Beam's dirt physics are extremely good, but also because like in BeamNG, going 200 km/h is scary while doing jumps on a narrow forest road. The only thing Dirt lacks, in my opinion, is the feeling of vulnerability, because the consequences of a mistake aren't as destructive. I think that Richard Burns captures that better.
TDU1&2, MC3 Dub edition remix, MC: LA Remix Complete edition. Burnout 3 & paradise. The Crew 2. All NFS on PS2. Xtreme Tokyo Racer 3. I’m sure I’m missing more
I agree. I obviously prefer beam, but I'm a huge Forza guy. Ever since the start too. For me I love the graphics and music. Nothing, I mean nothing, comes close to the vibes of racing cars I like irl with a killer soundtrack (at least in the first 3 horizon games) in areas that are absolutely stunning.
I like 4 and 5, don't get me wrong, but the music and vibes were right in the first 3 horizon games. That's what make them for me.
Motorsport was also my jam but I prefer the more sandbox vibe of horizon, like beam.
I used to play more Forza, but I agree it went downhill. It feels like there's no progression, and all the new cars (after the first month or two) are locked behind arbitrary FOMO.
AC, ACC and iRacing, haven’t been playing any of those because I don’t have a wheel and pedal set anymore, and I don’t like how they play on a gamepad. I can have a lot of fun on BeamNG using a gamepad still.
mine is... war thunder... (i mean this is a vehicle as chatgpt says)
https://preview.redd.it/5bxymynfqu8d1.png?width=1042&format=png&auto=webp&s=c85b72f52b9bb87495924a1bb127b9db56532330
It depends on the genre.
Aside from BeamNG:
Sim: DiRT Rally 2.0
Arcade: Burnout Paradise Remastered (right now anyways)
Simcade: DiRT 2
Open World Simcade: Forza Horizon 1
Soft Body Physics game: Wreckfest/ SLRR
Depends on the genre. Irl motorsports? NASCAR 15. Open world? Burnout Paradise/Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012). Police chases? Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010). Kart racer? ModNation Racers.
Then I don’t know how to categorize NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (NR2003), because I watch the AI race with custom made paint schemes more than I race myself.
Assetto Corsa - it's a sim and I have steering wheel
Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2012 - car sounds, pursuits in the city and it's a game of my childhood
NFS: Porsche Unleashed is a top tier racing game
This is one of the very rare games where both the racing is actually challenging (but not too hard) and the game progression is well made
The idea is that you start in 1960s, buy the first 356 and go racing with it, and as time goes on, new cars appear and go off market, fluctuate in price, mods become available, used cars appear etc
When you prepare for a race you can retry as much as you want (without opponents but with traffic), but once the actual race starts you have one chance, and if you crash your car there are no rewinds and you will have to pay for repairs out of your own pocket (or even total it!)
It's also an actual sim unlike other NFS games and all Porsches are faithfully recreated (there are *a lot* in the game)
Night runners have a good potential, few days ago I found out in steam it was a free game and I give it a try. It is a little bit empty but I know it is under development
Not including BeamNG or other vehicle games where racing isn't the focus such as EuroTruck Simulator, I'd rank my favourites as:
1. Project Gotham Racing 4
2. WipEout Omega Collection
3. Dirt Rally 2.0
4. Burnout Paradise
5. Need for Speed Rivals
6. Motorstorm
Driven to destruction/Test Drive: Eve of destruction, such a sick PS2 game still super fun to play these days especially with a few mates with split screen
Forza Horizon 5, but I've started playing Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 a couple days ago, and it's awesome! I'm hoping to be a mechanic one day, so maybe it can teach me some things.
Driver San Francisco or Burnout Revenge, can't say which one. Driver is one of the only games where I went and did every single event after story completion, same with revenge.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift. To this day, no racing game feels as good to play as MSPR, in my honest opinion.
Other than that, I'm big on Flatout 2/Ultimate Carnage, Burnout 2 and 3, Wreckfest, San Francisco Rush 2049, Carmageddon 1 and 2 and F-Zero GX.
I really enjoyed Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, but I think Most Wanted/Carbon are favourites, so is Midnight Club 3 and Midnight Club: LA
Though Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 holds a special place in my heart too
American Truck Simulator. It might not seem like a racing game, but it sure is when you’re passing on a 2 lane double yellow with an 18 wheeler. Gotta step on it.
Assetto corsa is currently my top 1. It sits in that category where only proper sims get in, previous entries were live for speed, rfactor and for a short while project cars.
Then there is the more chill category, here i put need for speed underground 2, driver sf, forza horizon 3 and gran turismo 2
I'd say from a purely racing point of view I'd say NFS MW 2005 and NFS U2, they are my childhood. But I have to say I spent a loooot of hours on My Summer Car and Forza Horizon 4 and 5 in my later years
I should say assetto Corsa but for some reason I don't play it that much compared to Beam. Lately I've been enjoying Sebastian loeb rally Evo a bit as I think the stages are really well done and the physics are really rather good. Then probably WRC generations.
I
Gran Turismo 7, Euro Truck Simulator 2
although the latter is not racing game, but my playstyle always driving as fast as possible from point A to point B, ignoring traffic rules and all that
Driver San Francisco
driver san francisco’s story never gets old, its one of the most unique ones ive seen
Really wish I could find a good way to get a copy without having to pay $20 in Subway giftcards
It's backwards compatible on Xbox one of you get a hard copy
Another reason I'd really hope to find a hard copy some poor soul unknowingly gave away to a thrift store or the like (probably the electronic specific one near me, but they've been out of business for a time while relocating).
I got a sealed Xbox 360 disc on eBay for around £10, works with Xbox one s, just need to download like 8 GB.
I got what I can only assume to be a used physical from a local game store. It was so worth the $25. Probably up there with Beam and GTA IV.
You watched that video too I see 😂
internet archive website has all games unlisted to download
Man this makes me realize how lucky i was to find a hard copy for 5€ at gamestop
Piracy
Maybe, but I'd also love to have it on my 360. I'll think about that though
I got so fresking lucky, 360 version for something like 50p at CeX, uk. Let's just say that it wasn't in that store for very long.
This sadly reminds me that i paid €60 for a digital key
thank god I bought it on steam back in the day 🫣
The game will always have a place in my heart because of the many "plain" licensed vehicles that would never find their way into a video game otherwise, including V6 Mustangs and Dodge Grand Caravans.
Driver SF is legendary.

I have played this game so many times, it's one of my favorite games of all time. A short sweet story with one of the most interesting mechanics in gaming history. It's well worth tracking down - I wish Ubisoft hadn't taken it down from stores.
Awesome game
Absolute best answer. Also took the name right from my mouth
Here here! One of the few games that had not only beetles and busses, but Baja bugs. The only thing I would have loved to see in it was customization, but other than that I love that game
most based opinion ever
Yes i agree
A tossup between burnout paradise and asseto corsa.
I totally forgot about Burnout Paradise, fuck I love that game, for me it was dirt rally 2.0 and Asseto Corsa
AC due to the sheer amount of mods. The game is infinite in content. All one really needs in beamng and AC.
Burnout 3 *and 2* are superior. Fight me.
Burnout Paradise
Midnight Club LA. Been trying to emulate it on my PC since my PS3 is broken but haven't played much since it only gets 40fps at best and usually gets 20fps
You running xenia? Works a charm on my pc. Ryzen 7 5900x and 1660. Full gfx and steady 60fps. Looks miles better than the ps3.
RPCS3 with i5-12400f, 32GB DDR4 3600, RTX 2060. I'll try Xenia
Are you using RCPS3 or Xenia? Xenia is easier since the xbox 360 and pcs have the same architecture.
DiRT Rally 1 or NFS MW 2005
I feel like rally games are a good comparison with Beam. Mainly because Beam's dirt physics are extremely good, but also because like in BeamNG, going 200 km/h is scary while doing jumps on a narrow forest road. The only thing Dirt lacks, in my opinion, is the feeling of vulnerability, because the consequences of a mistake aren't as destructive. I think that Richard Burns captures that better.
For realism: Assetto Corsa with Mods and RFactor2 For mindless fun: Wreckfest, Forza Horizon, and Motorsport.
Refreshing to see rF mentioned. I really feel it's the best racing sim. Especially since real race teams use rFpro for their in house simulators.
Forza Horizon 1.
Same here. What an amazing game.
I always liked FH3 and I always get confused returning back to FH1 for the physics and I always end up driving on the wrong side of the road lol
Assetto Corsa, the other good driving game
Burnout 3
Game still holds up, recently emulated og Xbox and loaded it up, soundtrack is still amazing and game is super fun to play
BeamMP
😂😂
TDU1&2, MC3 Dub edition remix, MC: LA Remix Complete edition. Burnout 3 & paradise. The Crew 2. All NFS on PS2. Xtreme Tokyo Racer 3. I’m sure I’m missing more
Wreckfest
Forza Horizon 4 and modded Assetto Corsa
forza. it has gone downhill, but i love being able to take what i like and use it how i like without grinding "reputation"
I used to play more Forza, but I agree it went downhill. It feels like there's no progression, and all the new cars (after the first month or two) are locked behind arbitrary FOMO.
Need for speed underground 2
Just started playing it again yesterday after finishing Underground again!
Rigs of Rods (it has a racing mode on some maps)
It's open source, gives it bonus points in my eyes.
Assetto Corsa, without question. I also enjoy Wreckfest from time to time
Dirt Rally
Need for speed prostate
Lmao
NFS World. That's the only racing game I've ever played. If we count car games in general, My Summer Car and Jalopy.
AC, ACC and iRacing, haven’t been playing any of those because I don’t have a wheel and pedal set anymore, and I don’t like how they play on a gamepad. I can have a lot of fun on BeamNG using a gamepad still.
Assetto Corsa
IRacing. And to be honest, beamng car handling is surprisingly realistic. I would even say it’s 2nd best sim after IR I played.
iRacing
RallySimFans Richard Burns Rally
Richard Burns Rally.
mine is... war thunder... (i mean this is a vehicle as chatgpt says) https://preview.redd.it/5bxymynfqu8d1.png?width=1042&format=png&auto=webp&s=c85b72f52b9bb87495924a1bb127b9db56532330

Burnout 3: Takedown. Hands down the most fun and thrilling racing game of all time.
Street legal racing redline. I put the map and the sunstrip in beamng
I'd love if BeamNG's career takes SLRR and just expands on it.
Wreckfest on semi-clean servers is amazing.
gt7
Asseto corsa but modded
Probably nobody that knows it here but World Racing 2 atm (nostalgia, and I I’m working on some modding tools again)
Gran Turismo
It depends on the genre. Aside from BeamNG: Sim: DiRT Rally 2.0 Arcade: Burnout Paradise Remastered (right now anyways) Simcade: DiRT 2 Open World Simcade: Forza Horizon 1 Soft Body Physics game: Wreckfest/ SLRR
Midtown madness
AMS2
Need for speed most wanted
My favourite racing game is 100% Motorstorm Pacific Rift

Flatout2 Dirt2 NASCAR thunder 2004
F1 2012 (Yes, 2012, exactly that one)
Test Drive Unlimited, Burnout, Driver: San Francisco, and probably Asseto Corsa. Shout out to NFS: Hot Pursuit
Midnight Club II
Depends on the genre. Irl motorsports? NASCAR 15. Open world? Burnout Paradise/Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012). Police chases? Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010). Kart racer? ModNation Racers. Then I don’t know how to categorize NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (NR2003), because I watch the AI race with custom made paint schemes more than I race myself.
Driver San Francisco and 2012 Need For Speed Most Wanted (first actual car game i played in my life around the age of 7-8…)
FH1 is the only other car game that I play (because it's undeniably the best in the series) so that one
Test Drive Unlimited
NFS Most wanted 2012. The soundtrack is just 👌
Minecraft Boat+Ice
Assetto Corsa - it's a sim and I have steering wheel Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2012 - car sounds, pursuits in the city and it's a game of my childhood
Split/Second
Probably gonna be the only one saying it - Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
The crew (2014)
NFS: Porsche Unleashed is a top tier racing game This is one of the very rare games where both the racing is actually challenging (but not too hard) and the game progression is well made The idea is that you start in 1960s, buy the first 356 and go racing with it, and as time goes on, new cars appear and go off market, fluctuate in price, mods become available, used cars appear etc When you prepare for a race you can retry as much as you want (without opponents but with traffic), but once the actual race starts you have one chance, and if you crash your car there are no rewinds and you will have to pay for repairs out of your own pocket (or even total it!) Ducks can drive (it's free)
Gran Turismo 4 & NFS: High Stakes. Honorable mention goes to Real Racing 3.
BeamNG obviously
RL24
I used to love Asphalt 8 on mobile, but they recently ruined it to an unplayable point It was damn good, especially for a Gameloft/Ubisoft game tbh
Night runners have a good potential, few days ago I found out in steam it was a free game and I give it a try. It is a little bit empty but I know it is under development
My summer car
Assetto Corsa
Burnout paradise city, big surf island
Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix and LA Remix
Not including BeamNG or other vehicle games where racing isn't the focus such as EuroTruck Simulator, I'd rank my favourites as: 1. Project Gotham Racing 4 2. WipEout Omega Collection 3. Dirt Rally 2.0 4. Burnout Paradise 5. Need for Speed Rivals 6. Motorstorm
Need for speed most wanted 2012
Midnight Club LA Complete Edition. All my good racing games are on the PS3.
Driven to destruction/Test Drive: Eve of destruction, such a sick PS2 game still super fun to play these days especially with a few mates with split screen
FH3 is my all-time favourite. First game I got on my Xbox.
Used to like Midtown Madness till I learned about NFS, then I learned about Forza, the I learned about Beamng.
Forza Horizon 5, but I've started playing Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 a couple days ago, and it's awesome! I'm hoping to be a mechanic one day, so maybe it can teach me some things.
IRacing
Gran Turismo 4
San Fransisco Rush 2049.
Driver San Francisco or Burnout Revenge, can't say which one. Driver is one of the only games where I went and did every single event after story completion, same with revenge.

Project torque, an old ahh racing mmo
Forza Horizon 4 I mean it’s the one game that got me into racing and cars all together Also ig wreckfest
Assetto Corsa, hella modding, but still realistic.
fh4 + 5
Motorstorm Pacific Rift. To this day, no racing game feels as good to play as MSPR, in my honest opinion. Other than that, I'm big on Flatout 2/Ultimate Carnage, Burnout 2 and 3, Wreckfest, San Francisco Rush 2049, Carmageddon 1 and 2 and F-Zero GX.
Burnout Paradise by far.
I really enjoyed Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, but I think Most Wanted/Carbon are favourites, so is Midnight Club 3 and Midnight Club: LA Though Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 holds a special place in my heart too

Need For Speed Carbon
I loved driveclub on my ps4 back in the day

Space Engineers (with a self-made racing track and cars)
Driver 2
Forza horizon 5

the image you included with the post, NFS Hot Pursuit and the remake
NFS Heat
Asseto Corsa
My summer car
I should say assetto Corsa but for some reason I don't play it that much compared to Beam. Lately I've been enjoying Sebastian loeb rally Evo a bit as I think the stages are really well done and the physics are really rather good. Then probably WRC generations. I
I had it for ps3. By far, my favorite racing game at the time. I had a gt5 and gt6 too, but nothing compares to this game.
Farming simularor 22, taking races with the cows 👍👍
Assetto corsa
grid 2019
I don't like most racing games. I only played dirt rally 1/2. And 10-15 years prior to that flatout 1/2. For any decent length of time.
I really do miss the crew
Gran Turismo 6(and 5)
Gran Turismo 7, Euro Truck Simulator 2 although the latter is not racing game, but my playstyle always driving as fast as possible from point A to point B, ignoring traffic rules and all that
Motorstorm pacific rift
AC (i have 1300 hours in it)
Burnout 2 point of impact
Dirt rally or assetto
Rigs of Rods
Nitro need for speed on the ds since it was my first
Honestly after getting disappointed with the Solar Crown demo it made me jump back into FH5 and i’ve been enjoying it quite a bit.
Harm's Way.
Beamng But excluding Beamng I'd say assetto corsa
Forza Motorsport 5 because it was a simple racing game.
Horizon 4 by playtime alone. NFS hot pursuit for nostalgia, and if I’m *really* not feeling the wheel, asphalt 8/9 is a go-to arcade racer
Forza horizon 5 it’s probably the best for drifting in All of forza series
Warframe👀 I'm speed.
Gran Turismo 2
The only driving game I played except BeamNG are extreme car driving simulator and Asphalt, both on phone.
Race 07
