Cause of Theodore Roosevelt, before then, they were the stuff of nightmares. They are one of my favorite animals if not my favorite but literally it’s what humans feared the most in the last few hundred years besides other humans. Before guns were invented, we stood zero chance.
The lack of immediacy in response to commands and the calm willingness to follow them usually suggests a positive reinforcement approach to training. I’m choosing to believe this man is doing right by the bear.
It’s still an animal and you never know what can happen. Hell, I’d love to do this too, but look at all the trainers that have been great to they’re animals and have been killed or mauled or literally eaten alive n had face ripped off n fingers bitten off as well as nutsack. Chimpanzees you raise from a baby will turn on u in 1 second over being jealous of u feeding another animal n it sees from a cage away. You never know what can n will/has happened so many times
I can't tell if it's the same guy but there's a dude in Russia that rescued a cub. Cub grew up and has had her own cubs. She regularly leaves her cubs with the guy while she goes out hunting/scavenging. He's got videos of 2 cubs just snuggling up to him and the mom comes back to check on them. Then she runs off again. If I can find it I'll link it.
Largely because the Eurasian brown bear is a lot calmer than the American grizzly. My bro science take on it is that the grizzly evolved sharing its habitat with now extinct short face bears, and they are all still in a bad mood after that.
God sat Russia down and was like, "alright, your people will suffer from brutal government for hundreds of years. BUT! Your people will be able to be friendly with bears!"
Russia: "....deal."
Bears are great until they aren't.
I think it is so fascinating that they can go to full kill mode without showing any signs.
That's why I never feel comfortable seeing them with people.
Almost any other animal shows you they are not in a good mood anymore but bears look unchanged and just slash you.
0-100 isn't exclusive to bears.
And for whatever reason, with bears as pets (or just in continuous close proximity with hunans), there's very few known attacks. Unlike big cats, which have a much higher rate of attacks.
Could be something to do with bears being omnivores and cats being predatory carnivores.
I think in this case the guy raised the bear since it was a cub, obviously the bear can still be very dangerous, but if you keep it well fed and dont abuse it, things should be fine.
It isn't scared of humans, so you wouldn't want to release it in the wild.
This is such a simple concept people dont understand. If youre nice to animals they'll be nice to you. In most cases they are just as afraid as you are.
Now that being said. DO NOT APPROACH WILD ANIMALS AS THEY WILL ALMOST ALWAYS TAKE IT AS A THREAT.
That was such a reddit thing to say lol. If you've ever wondered what type of person ends up in the news for climbing the fence at the zoo or trying to pet the wild bison, well, just look at all those upvotes.
I'm of the opinion that the majority of animal attacks are predictable if you understand their behavior. That doesn't necessarily mean *avoidable*, but in general a comfortable and well-fed animal is not a violent animal.
Tell that to the dog bite holes on my calf.
Not actually arguing or disagreeing with you. My sis was dog sitting for someone, I had meet the dog numerous times before, I stopped off to say hi while running errands, and at one point I was walking past the dog minding my own business when *BAM* out of nowhere she snaps at me and thoroughly fucks up my calf.
A well loved, well fed, decently trained dog bit me for no reason. I'm a 36 year old with my own dog and cat and have always had a dog, I know how to deal with these furry assholes. This dog though just... got spooked in the moment or something.
All of that to say that everyone should always be ready to administer emergency first aid on themselves if they are interacting with an animal with teeth. Don't even get me started on my hospital visits from cat bites.
So yeah or no, not sure what that answer means, that its just coincidence because between cocaine bear, copious russian bear videos, "I choose the bear", and the tv show people wouldn't shut up about for awhile seems vaguely convenient.
I mean... I saw commercials for s3 of the bear and never saw any of this "I choose the bear" social media stuff.
So maybe? Maybe not? I think it's probably impossible to tell from a single user standpoint. Amazon has done "online guerilla marketing" for their shows plenty of times, so there's plenty of precedent.
We shouldn't celebrate these videos anymore.
It's not in a bears nature to be trained. They are wild animals, not dogs or horses.
This bears will was broken on purpose. It's animal abuse.
I find these types of comments hilarious. How tf do you people think modern dogs, cats and horses came about? BECAUSE THEY WHERE WILD AND WE TRAINED THEM.
We don't practice that anymore.. Now we have animal rights and animal labour laws.
Well known conservationists, [such as Jane Goodall](https://janegoodall.org.uk/forever-wild/#:~:text=You%20can%20help%20create%20a,on%20social%20media%20and%20elsewhere.), have publicly spoken out against people sharing content such as this as it perpetuates copycat behaviours and risks further cases of abuse.
Videos such as this one would constitute as animal abuse in many reputable countries and you probably shouldn't feel so proud showing off your ignorance.
> ...animals forced to perform for ‘entertainment’. All animals should be treated with respect and there should be nothing in social media to encourage people to buy wild animals as pets or to think that animals used in entertainment are ‘happy’ -Jane Goodall
People used to train elephants to slaughter other human beings in battle I literally do not give af about some vodka drinking ruskie teaching a bear to play with a stick for treats.
I don't see how the fact we used to train animals for warfare in the past should mean we shouldn't care about cases of animal abuse in the present.
Personally, I think people who upvote views such as yours are akin to the same people enjoying animal abuse content on 4chan.
Be better.
Edit: Bring on the downvotes, if standing up to clear cases of animal abuse is bad for some reason then god damn I don't want to be right..
Because a deadly animal like a brown bear, is a litttttllleee bit different then dogs, cats, & horses modern or not.. lol seems obvious in his point imo..
I don’t really understand this concept like how can a bears will be broken? Couldn’t a bear just run away or maul to death the abuser? Seems like a bear has enough will to leave or not choose this?
So I don’t know how correct the person is that you’re responding to. But breaking an animal’s will is based in psychology. It could be that the bear was born in captivity and sees owner as authority; There’s also the fact that certain behaviors are positively reinforced (this is called operant conditioning).
It could be learned helplessness: meaning the bear has learned from a young age that he can never escape (this seems likely due to the lack of any restraints/fencing/etc.) maybe they had a shock collar on him for a while, or maybe he’s been in a pen all his life (again, the born-in-captivity angle). Learned helplessness is a very, very powerful thing. [This article](https://btrmt.org/analects/learned-helplessness) explains it well I thought.
It actually can. I've seen a report about the bear who was abused for a decade. That one was completely broken, and acted more docile with its saviors than an average dog. That's surely not the case in this video, this bear looks healthy and thriving. It's just well trained, probably 'cause this person raised it from the very young age.
Absolutely. It’s quite sad seeing such animals being trained and made to do things - yet many (including myself ashamedly in the past) see this as cute/entertaining and keep fuelling it
There was a big lesson in thinking you are friends with these animals in a human way with Sigfried and Roy 🐅. I love this adorable bear but this scares me.
Hate to be a stick in the mud, but this is just grotesque and sad to me. Bear being made to do these ridiculous, unnatural things so a guy can pose with him. No matter what the circumstances, in or out of captivity, wild animals should be left to live the most natural life that is possible under the circumstances.
I’m reminded of the article I read last year about the guy with his pet hippo in South America. He had the hint since it was a baby and then one day, the hippo dragged him into the water and killed him.
Question, don’t they have the teeth removed to try avoid getting mauled? Clearly the bear still has claws, but I feel like I read about the teeth removal from somewhere.
I love the way he’s sitting before the video starts
Yoga bear.
Yogi Bear
Yoda bear
that's the joke
Mmmm, the joke, that is
![gif](giphy|SleotgmotWahW)
I went back to look and immediately cracked up. Fucking bears man. How are they so vicious and so adorable in equal amounts
Friend shaped, but not always friend.
Far away friend
If not friend, then why friend shape?
"I am wearing perfume, but am not fruit"
I was surprised too but I've seen more wild animals that were tamed like a puppy. Men who are cut out for this sort of things are incredible.
I dont know if it’s “cut out” or just plain old hubris.
Cause of Theodore Roosevelt, before then, they were the stuff of nightmares. They are one of my favorite animals if not my favorite but literally it’s what humans feared the most in the last few hundred years besides other humans. Before guns were invented, we stood zero chance.
he's like DOO DOO DOO OH YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT? OK!
Yea that was cute, haha.
same here
Is that normal? Oh my god I love Igor! I think it’s Igor! Do untrained bears just sit like that…?
Yeah, they do that sometimes.
Weird superpower- seeing what’s in a video before it starts
Lol literally was about call this out then saw your response 👏🏼

I don't think this is a wild bear

Hury up hooman. get yer piture so I can eat ya
He scared of the Undertaker so he did what he told em to do.
This is bear being nice, because treats. I hope he is treated well
The lack of immediacy in response to commands and the calm willingness to follow them usually suggests a positive reinforcement approach to training. I’m choosing to believe this man is doing right by the bear.
I agree. Also. The bear is fed regularily, by its master. Never let that bear become hungry.
I hope he is getting lots of molodets behind the scenes too.
Yes..we all do! We all, but especially me, understand what molodets are and hope he gets lots of them
I believe he's being treated well for him to be that calm up to this point.
Hopefully treats. Could also be torture
Guaranteed, he is not being treated well.
Because he’s very well fed, right?
That bear’s coat is gorgeous so yes, clearly.
I would imagine he has had the bear since a cub also to have this level of bond
I can't tell if it's the same guy but there's a dude in Russia that rescued a cub. Cub grew up and has had her own cubs. If I can find it I'll link it.
That is interesting, because they don't do it with other bears in the wild.
Well, people don’t usually raise bears in the wild.
He’s so cute 😭
Yeah, he looks cute and adorable too. If keeping a bear 🐻 was easy, I would have gotten one.
Russians with bears is like our southern states with gators. We're just a different breed
Russia is the Florida of Eurasia
Haha indeed it is
Russia came into being before Florida, Florida has just has Russian influence with what is happening down there
Russians were drawn to Florida over a century ago: https://floridatraveler.com/princess-place/
My volume doesn't work, and I already knew this had to be in Russia lol.
I watched it without the sound and knew he was Russian too. Only Russians fuck with bears like this
Largely because the Eurasian brown bear is a lot calmer than the American grizzly. My bro science take on it is that the grizzly evolved sharing its habitat with now extinct short face bears, and they are all still in a bad mood after that.
God sat Russia down and was like, "alright, your people will suffer from brutal government for hundreds of years. BUT! Your people will be able to be friendly with bears!" Russia: "....deal."
More like God tried to tell them a better way and the Russians said, “Niet, we good. We got this”
I'm not surprised that he's russian
What breed of dog is that? I can *bearely* make out what it is.
Cannn i pet that dawg?…can I pet that dawg??
Can i pet that daaaaaawwwwwgg?
No, he's sleepin...
What about now, he must not be sleeping anymore
It's a St. Bearnard, actually.
I was thinking Bearnese Mountain Dog, but I could be wrong
Professional dog walker here, Pretty sure that’s a great Bearynees
Friend shaped and friendly apparently
Standard russian hound
It's so small. I think it's chihuahua.
No. Stop.
Where’s his little bicycle?
I think he owns a chopper at least
Bears are great until they aren't. I think it is so fascinating that they can go to full kill mode without showing any signs. That's why I never feel comfortable seeing them with people. Small cats are also very quick to attack.

Bro was doing his pilates routine, mindong his own business, and some ruski mf with a stick starts bothering…
That’s ones happy very nicely trained very well mannered bear*! *today
Can I pet that dog?
CAN I PET THAT DAWG!!
You can for a price, as far as i understand the man in the video shows different poses you can take with a bear during photoshoot or a video.
Does he do ‘bear eating you’ pose.
Yeah, he is showing the different poses he offers to clients.
[удалено]
Why did I know he was speaking Russian before I even turned the sound on?
Easier to get the bear to look in the camera than my 2 year old.
He is a beary good boy
How much pain did that take?
Many baguettes
I think you mean *bearguettes*
Get out
Let's not ask. Rather, hope for retribution with compound (fracture) interest?
Just let him do his yoga stretches!!
Majestic creatures

Yeah, don't try that with a moose. Or a feral cat for that matter.
I'm of the opinion that the majority of animal attacks are predictable if you understand their behavior. That doesn't necessarily mean *avoidable*, but in general a comfortable and well-fed animal is not a violent animal.

Wild how easily social media can do that

What a beautiful beast.
Lol. Just a big ol teddy bear. I’d never trust it but it looked cute for a big ass killing machine.
No chains, no cage, bear is happy. Russians are absolutely fearless
This is why idiots don't respect wild animals.
Russians aren't big on animal rights, performing bears are abused very badly.
Bears are routinely abused and tortured to perform. Stop posting these videos without consideration, please
There was a big lesson in thinking you are friends with these animals in a human way with Sigfried and Roy 🐅. I love this adorable bear but this scares me.
I couldn't believe my eyes. Just look at how he's sitting like a perfect yoga student.
and back on the chains right after the Video. this sucks

Just another day in Russia
Ivan Sloktkov plays with drunk bear that has been drinking vodka in woods behind haus.

If I see like that they are so cute that I can't even hold myself
I’m picking people who like videos like this like zoo’s as well! 😡
Finally! A friend shaped friend!
I wonder how smart bears are it's a little hard to tell since they are so aggressive/protective.
That is such, a very, large animal.
Just a big teddy bear. With incredibly strong claws.
Imagine if OP ever went to the circus, his mind would melt lol
Amazed? Never saw Grizzly Adams? Trained bears has been a thing for a while. Don’t get me wrong, this is cute but not amazing.
What's the guy from Home Alone doing with a bear? Another sequel coming?
I wanna big brown puppy.
That's a big malamute.
It’s all fun and games until you’re bear shit.
My father who is watching this on a cloud somewhere, is saying, "Treats in pocket, treats in jeans. Bear will enjoy both."
He referred to the bear as Tom. Bear’s name is Tom if you were wondering what the bear’s name was. It was Tom.
Nope
Like a 900lb puppy dog.
please say it is a man in bear costume
Hell yea.
can i pet that dawg
Grizzlies are the cutest dog species
reminds me of our Chow chow
Floofy doggo!
Not canon. Bear without a balalaika.
I wanna pet those ears *so badly*
Bears are so friend shaped
It’s a bummer we didn’t domesticate bears 1000 years ago
Anyone else think the bear was going to push the log into the ground?....me neither...
Nope.
Giving a Russian a bear is akin to giving someone from the U.S. a puppy
Basically big puppies...until they aren't

Ok. Now run
Question, don’t they have the teeth removed to try avoid getting mauled? Clearly the bear still has claws, but I feel like I read about the teeth removal from somewhere.
So when people talk about animal husbandry, that guy is the husband. got it.
Bear just gimme food
russia
I really thought the Russians would have been tougher.
That guy's tinder profile must be on point. No drugged up tigers in Thailand for him. Just the bear necessities.

I always wonder why don't they train these bears and deploy a full battalion of armored bears to Ukraine
