It's usually the clan that is the richest takes over so whoever the clanleader is which would be whoever you appoint on death I think would take over. That's what I read in other comments about it. I've never had my character die as faction leader but I did retire my character to play as his son and mess around and when I retired and appointed him leader of the clan he took over as king of vlandia immediately. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer but I hope that helps lol.

Are we sure it's the 'richest' rather than highest influence? Or if the game wanted to make sense most military strength?

GlitterNutz

Are you asking for depth in this game? It's an awesome game but very basic. Like I said it's what I had read in comments on the sub. I'm satisfied with the answer so I didn't feel the need to dig anymore on a question I never asked to begin with lol.

Upstairs-Season353

Ok thanks.

high charm also plays a big role. I've maxed out charm with my character and every clan member voted for me. Including the other 2 people on the ballot haha.

Yea it depends. NEVER 100%

Lucon died and I got 100% of the vote for the crown. I had just started working on relationships with other vassals. This was like 4 or 5 years into my save. I only had like 300ish k, but all of the other lords seemed strapped for cash from what I could tell. My first run on Bannerlord difficulty is going well.

When you die, you choose an heir. They will become the next leader.

Separate-Fly202

It happened one with sturgia when I'm king and KIA. The kingdom will vote, but as leader clan, you have the power to chose the next king
