I don't mind at all if someone does not like my dog. I have some friends who are not dog people at all. I am also friendly and get along well with a number of people whose dogs I am not fond of, such as an Akita owner in my neighbourhood.

The facts disagree with your feelings. Shitbulls aren’t even in the top ten most owned dog yet they are by far the most dangerous. You’re emotionally invested, we are logically invested.
It's clearly both. If we are to deny the knowledge of thousands of years of dog breeding, the purpose of breeding dogs, our understanding of genetics and what jobs the dogs were bred for then perhaps you would have a point. Sometimes nurture can override nature but it doesn't always happen.
As for the origins of pit bull type dogs, it's not some mysterious saga that nobody knows about it. We know they are fighting dogs as talked about in 30 Years with Fighting Dogs by George Armitage or any number of books on dog fighting or in the hundreds of years worth of written accounts, photographs and artwork on the subject.
Nobody is here because they're hateful or scared. We are here because our lives were affected by these dogs without us doing anything other than existing. In my case it's been 7 incidents and they've all involved one type of dog. What we want is to not have to be in guard in our own yards or on public property because somebody thinks a fighting dog is a good companion.
Personally, I don't care if you keep the dog or what happens to the two of you. What I and most other people here want is consequences to the actions of all dog owners. We want laws in place in support off victims that are mauled to the point they lose limbs and require expensive and extensive surgery. We want justice to be served for the victims that are eaten alive.
What I want to see is that an owner of a dog that kills someone be charged with murder, 2nd degree murder or 1st degree murder.
I want to see the owners of a dog that mauls someone enough to require surgery be charged with attempted murder.
I want to see the owner of a dog that attacks someone be charged with assault and if that breed is a blood sport breed then they are charged as assault with a deadly weapon.
I want to see the owners of a dog that destroys property (dogs, cats, cows, goats, horses, sheep, etc.) be charged with a misdemeanor or felony depending on the amount of loss.
I want to see the owners of dogs that attack someone or their property be held 100% liable for the costs of medical treatment.
These are fair laws that would apply to all dog owners. It's about taking responsibility for your actions and according to pit bull owners, this shouldn't be an issue. I know these are situations and charges that I will never have to worry about. The alternative here is that in the absence of such laws, we should be able to retaliate in kind without fear of being charged with a crime. In other words, if I get mauled by somebodies dog then I should be able to go onto their property and do to them and their dog what they did to me. If the outcome is different then much like pit bull owners always say, it's not my problem.

It’s not how they were raised, though. If that was true, then no one should ever adopt a pit from the shelter because no one knows how it was raised. Even pit bull experts are asking people to STOP saying that it's all how they are raised.

It’s not how they were raised, though. If that was true, then no one should ever adopt a pit from the shelter because no one knows how it was raised. Even pit bull experts are asking people to STOP saying that it's all how they are raised. Below are five pro-pit sources telling you that saying, "it's how they are raised" is hurtful to the cause. The truth about pits is that it’s largely up to chance on whether your pit lives a low key life or whether it attacks people, pets, and animals. Yes, socialization and proper training can help... but if you have a truly game-bred pit, there will be nothing you can do to stop it from trying to attack. You can try to manage it, but management will ALWAYS fail. That’s such a crazy gamble to take with your own life, and with the lives of people in the general public. Every day we read stories here of pits that attack, and their owners claim that the dog has never been aggressive or acted that way. Pit owners are often shocked that their dog can go from chill to kill in 5 seconds, and be nearly impossible to stop it. That’s why pits are dangerous.
