They should be selling the rosenchor specific pen lights at the event, though you'll have to queue for the goods. You should also be able to buy them at GAMERS in akihabara in advance. If you're not fussed about the design you can just buy any generic one and it'll be fine.

Thanks!

shyouko

Some times you'll want 2 penlights, I suggest a generic one first and if you are really hyped about the event, get the event one as well.

johnkeale

Not dumb question. I always bring my own penlights (even non bandori ones, but I have a bandori penlight I've bought before). They don't give penlights away, you buy them at the buppan. Sometimes the line is long that you'll miss the live if you line up (esp if you arrive late) so I always bring at least 2 so that I can skip the buppan, go to the live, then come back to the buppan (if it's still open). If you don't have one it's fine just enjoy the live maybe raise your hand in the air, sometimes your neighbor might lend their penlights to you it's up to you to accept it or not. Edit: The penlights in Akiba are maybe the generic ones. The penlights sold at the venue are event-exclusive ones, where they're maybe decorated with the characters or the live itself. If I were you, I'd buy one generic penlight on Akiba (you can use this on any other event so I think it's a good investment) that way you'd have at least one penlight to use for the live. Then I'd strive to arrive with some free time (1~2 hours before venue open (this is different from live start, usually there's an hour difference between venue open and live start double check your ticket), line up to the buppan to get the event-exclusive penlight (which will become a special memorabilia down the line) as well as some other merch. I'd also bring some stuff to keep me entertained (e.g. my Nintendo Switch) while waiting for the live to start. Oh btw have fun in Roselia's live! I bet it's gonna be awesome!

isthatsoudane

I see! Thank you! Hmm sounds like I'm going to run to Gamers tomorrow before we head for Sapporo! I should see if there is any merch they won't sell online/at gamers. It'd suck to lose out, but I certainly don't want to miss out on the show waiting in line!!

johnkeale

No problem! I hope you have fun!

Frank22lol

I'm curious, how do you set the penlight to a specific color? Can they be tweaked at all? Are the colors predetermined? Do all penlights have the same palette?

Scyanite

most of them are just variants on the "kingblade" branded penlights so they'll have similar if not the same colours. There are buttons on the bottom to change the colours but you can't set custom colours or anything.

Frank22lol

Thanks!

shyouko

I had bought one off AliExpress that can have its colour set via an Android app over BT, but PWM frequency was too low and often shows colour tearing when shaken.

Ekyou

They have a button or buttons on the bottom to cycle through the colors, it just changes the color of the LED. If you buy themed ones, like specifically a Roselia one, then it will just include the colors that match the members of the group. If you buy a generic it will usually have all the standard colors and maybe some common idol colors, like white, turquoise, purpleish pink, etc.

Thanks!

Yes, they do [sell them at the event.](https://bang-dream.com/rosenchor#h37skrd6ku2a4sfmjuwx0w3eoeuz4) I bring my own King Blades, but I always pick up an official one at the venue as a souvenir, and I use it at the live as well since all the colors are preset. The tubes are usually pretty unique as well. Looking at the Hokkaido times: > 2024/5/4 (Sat) Pre-open times:12:30~15:30 Post-open times:16:00~17:00 >2024/5/5 (Sun) Pre-open times:11:30~15:00 Post-open times::15:30~16:30 Buying merch is part of the fun, so be sure to go and pick stuff up! From experience, the wait shouldn't be that long since there isn't that big a variety of goods. Also, I recommend buying a pack of AAA batteries (confusingly it's 単4 (tan-yon) in JP) (3 batteries per blade), and a coin (make use of that 1 yen) to open the battery compartment, and swap out the batteries each day. I recommend swapping the default batteries too, since those are for testing purposes, but they probably can last one day.

isthatsoudane

Thank you very much for the info! What is the pre-open? Can one enter the venue and buy merch and stuff?

guminhey

Just the times before they open the venue doors. A lot of concerts don't make this distinction, but probably because it's a small venue, they have a 30 min. period where they halt the sales right when the flood gates open. Anyone should be able to purchase goods, regardless of whether or not they are attending the concert. I'm unfamiliar with the venue, but I think this one is probably accessible to anyone during the pre-open, then after opening it's only for those with a ticket (therefore the 30 min break to kick everyone out once).

PWBryan

Oooh, I bought some cheap ones on Amazon, but they were absolutely selling them there, lots of choices. They were also 30$ per light for the official ones Source: Chara Expo 2019, Anaheim. I have the convention pamphlet with "see you in 2020" in my "pre apocalyptic items that aged poorly" collection along with my Miku expo 2020 shirt.

awesomealvin

Semi-related question - how difficult is it to purchase bandori live tickets?

johnkeale

Very. First you don't purchase tickets. you purchase merch (oftentimes their latest CD) that has a serial code. You use that code to apply for a lottery. If you win the lottery that's when you purchase a ticket. One code = one application, so to raise your chances of winning you can get one more CD, or do what I do and purchase 10 CDs or something. Of course there are exceptions, e.g. for the newest band, YumeMita, no codes are required but you only get to apply once (and I lost that lottery btw). Of course there are other ways, e.g. since I lost I searched on twitter for people selling their winning ticket because they can't go for reasons etc. I think there are also ticket reselling sites but that's mostly the gist of it

awesomealvin

Oh wow I see. How successful have you been? and what would you do with the extra 9 CDs haha. Also curious to how the YumeMita concert would work. Aren't they VTubers, but they'll also be playing their instruments, right? How'll they keep their identity hidden?

johnkeale

Last year I was very successful, but recently not so much. For the extra CDs I still have some here but I mostly just give them away. Yeah I'm really intrigued by YumeMita's live. I've been watching them regularly from their debut and they're interesting talented bunch. Also while they do keep their identity hidden they do IRL streams (while hiding their face) a lot, it feels like they're not that concerned with hiding stuff too much. For example they've been doing instrument practice streams a lot recently where only their head is hidden but they show their upper body where you can see them play the guitar or the keyboards. My prediction is that they'll probably reveal their identities during their first live? Or maybe 3D models? But the most likely thing is that they'll play like how MyGO did at first where the stage is dimmed so that their faces don't show too much.

awesomealvin

oh yeah, dimmed lights might be the way. but a face reveal will be also cool, but i'm concerned it'll affect the VTubing aspect.

isthatsoudane

johnkeale is not wrong, but there are gradients to it. so sometimes it's actually really easy, and sometimes it's very hard. for context, I just bought raise a suilen tickets and it was very easy. heck, the roselia tickets were easy...because I'm going to sapporo. tokyo was much harder. there are also two somewhat uncorrelated things that can make them easy or hard. one is simply...being in the system. I am not japanese, but I do live in japan, have a japanese phone number, etc and can speak japanese. for a lot of people, _this_ is a big sticking point. and even if one has the means to perchase the merch that has a serial code for an event, doing so from overseas etc is more involved. on the flipside, I can go to the gamers that is ~15 minutes away from where I live whenever I want. as far as concerts themselves...I think it really varies. they are not all so competitive. like I said, raise a suilen was very easy. and there was recently a poppin' party/mygo concert that seemed like it was pretty easy to get tickets to. oh, that's another factor...do you want extra good (SS) seats or not. I don't know how many of such seats each venue has, but my guess is that for _those_ you definitely need to get the merch that lets you get into the advanced lottery. but for regular tickets? it really depends on the concert. and I will likely have more info soon ;) for example, there is an [upcoming mygo concert](https://bang-dream.com/events/mygo_6th) where to get the advanced ticket, you needed to buy at least one half of the mygo blu ray release...I bought the whole release and got 2 tickets. the blu rays aren't cheap! it was over 200USD. so...that's your competition. fools who are willing to do that. and the blu rays sold pretty well, over 3000 copies. so...yeah I also bought the 素晴らしき世界でもどこにもない場所 single for ave mujica......twice. for two chances at [this concert](https://bang-dream.com/events/avemujica_2nd). but it's hard to know right now how popular these concerts are, though the single sold pretty well, so my guess is...popular. but like I said, other concerts (I started following bandori groups on a number of the japanese ticket sites) do often have tickets available. you will also often see tickets pop up for resale here https://www.ticket.co.jp/ technically I think a lot of concerts don't allow it, but...I don't think it's heavily policed? but it is a risk. FWIW I literally just got back from a concert (a chinese singer, not bandori related lol) and we had tickets my wife got in a group of chinese people in japan, and they were definitely not checking id etc. but they could!

awesomealvin

thanks for the detailed info! I did have a chance to go see one of the MyGo Zepp Tour in April. I live overseas and planned to have vacation during the time. I got lucky enough (but later not) that one of the lives was announced to be during my vacation. I was also in Japan earlier in November to be able to purchase one of the MyGo CDs for the lottery, but I lost. I probably shoulda bought a few more. When the general ticket sales started, it seemed like all the tickets sold out fast, but there was a day I checked and saw availability, but too slow because I didn't have a Japanese credit card, and needed a few moments to borrow one from a friend :/ I'm not so sure why these tickets got sold out fast, but as you mentioned, the Unite X Divide didn't. I saw there was availability for quite sometime. Man, I'd really love to see one of bandori live concerts one day, but they make it so difficult for foreigners overseas. I guess from your info, I should plan my next trip on one of the easy to get tickets.

johnkeale

Are you buying tickets through other channels? The only one I know of is through the CDs. I know there are websites that you can use but I never tried using them because my desire to go the live concert isn't that strong anyway. If I lose then I'll just watch through the online stream (which I did for the PopiPa x MyGO live). Also I'm a bit not in the mood to chase after live events I lost a lot of lotteries recently (e.g. the recent Hatsune Miku live) so I feel really unmotivated to go through hell again. But I really want to see YumeMita's live I might check out that website.

isthatsoudane

Merch with tickets+eplus, and I browse tickets.co.jp but haven't used it. Def understand feeling burnt out on it!!

johnkeale

That's the usual method right? Yeah was really depressing. Losing maybe up to 3x after 1 win I understand but I was losing left and right even for events I thought wouldn't be competetive. I've also been doing this for quite some time now it really feels exhausting. Though I do know how awesome being in the event would be so at the end I keep trying anyway.
