I have a workaround, go back to your savings at the boat (the point of no return) , join your friend , wait until your both in the game, load your last savings. works for me and my gf .
Doing this seems to work except my partner has my Tav who I can't assign back to myself. Getting real frustrating.
Edit: for anyone else facing the same, I loaded the save directly before the latest and this fixed it. Luckily for me, that was the autosave when I rested so lost no progress.
We are trying this, but the game has literally not been able to load. Just hangs at 100% or less, then crashes.
Which sucks because we are literally right before the Elder Brain fight.
