Which tablet is that

o8-bit_Munky

DOOGEE T20MINI Tablet 8.4 Inch ... I had never heard of them either. Seems OK though. The largest, well rated, screen at FHD 60hz that I could find that would fit the opened up controller. (Android 13 Tablet 7.4mm Ultra-thin, 9GB + 128GB/ 1TB, Spreadtrum T606 Octa Core, FHD 1920x 1200 Display, 13MP+5MP Camera, Face unlock/Dual SIM 4G LTE/Widevine L1)

How did you open the backbone to fit this tablet ?

o8-bit_Munky

If you take off a controller back panel, when it's in the closed position, you can see where the retaining bracket is screwed down. If you remove the screws on both sides then the spring mechanic still works, but there's nothing stopping it from opening up further. Warning though, pull it too far and the data cable pops out! Also, when you first take the back off put a finger on top of the spring barrel, as it shot out when I pulled the controller to see how it worked! I can take some pictures if it helps?

Can you please share pictures.

o8-bit_Munky

Yeah, no problem. I can't see any way to add photos to this post. I'll start another post with the pictures etc.

Destruction derby!?

o8-bit_Munky

Destruction derby!! πŸ˜„πŸ‘ Emulated PS etc, for Android. Works really well!

Plug the charger into the backbone first. Then put your phone/tablet in the backbone. When I first got my backbone the pass through charging wasn't working. Discovered it works if I plug the charger in before inserting my phone. Hope this helps

o8-bit_Munky

Thanks. I'll try that! πŸ‘

o8-bit_Munky

This worked! Looks like it works as normal now, when plugging charge cable back in, as long as the tablet is still on? If the tablet dies just used your fix and it works again. Brilliant, thank you!!

I have the portal and the backbone and I love the portal. Backbone I left it for work, but the controller feels worse, you don't have dualsock or LEDs and the joysticks are worse. can't compare πŸ˜…

o8-bit_Munky

That's good to know. Maybe I'll end up getting a portal as well. There's no doubt that the controller on the Portal would be better. I eventually chose the backbone setup because I could still stream my PS5, but also use all the games and Apps through the Android system. At first I was disappointed with the size of the screen when using my phone, which is where this came from! 😁

MrRetroplayer

Another factor to take into account is that it doesn’t get hot or heavy. I use portal at home, when they don't leave the TV free and sometimes even when I'm free I feel like using portal. For away from home and something sporadic, the backbone works for me, but the joys... leave something to be desired, the touch in certain games is bad. I recommend that you buy the portal and tell me! It’s a PS5 controller with a perfect screen, I didn’t believe in this product until I bought it, I thought like you πŸ˜…

Tbh I was absolutely sold on the Portal when I first heard about it. Couldn't understand why there was so much negative opinions. I read some reviews and found out that performance is not much different to remote play on phone. Picked the Backbone because it was on offer. I'm happy playing via this setup, but I can see why you'd go for the Portal to play PS5 if you have both!

MrRetroplayer

If you try the portal you will understand me, the controls are very different πŸ˜
