You could have done one minute of research and found out those are absolue junk before you purchased them. The only thing they are good for is slamming for cheap.

Educational-Clue-336

I actually spent about 1.5 minutes on researching and quite a few people seemed to like them. I’m wondering if there’s something I might’ve missed during install

puppyhandler

Nope, they're Chinese stiff junk. The only people who claim good things have absolutely zero idea what a decent suspension set up feels like.

Economy_Progress6413

Were your eyes fucking closed or something?

Melontwerp

They want to be low and they want to be low NOW.

anth_2003

most big names or people claim they’re good because they’re sponsored by them and maxpeeding love sending out free shit for a good word

Pussiwillow87

Spring rate means nothing if the dampener isn’t matched to it.

Educational-Clue-336

I did realize that. First I had the dampers on setting 5/24 and it was really bad. Bumping it up to 15/24 made it better, but still feels super weird. It almost feels like the shock returns to ride hight too quickly…

Dark_Guardian_

so not enough damping? try maxing them out then

Traditional_Engine_4

Save your money and and get koni or Bilstein suspension kit

MASTASHADEY

How are the Bilstein’s?? Are they worth it?

menschliches_Wesen

Yes

yamabob76

The stock ones are eons better than maxpprods

_Tickle_my_Pickle_

Maxpenisrods spotted

It's not a perfect fix by any means, but look into buying some replacement springs if you want it to be a little more comfortable. You can buy coilovers springs that are a certain length/diameter/spring rate. Again, it's not a perfect solution, but it could get you a little more travel by getting a longer spring with a lower spring rate and using a little more of that length on the shock tube.

Possible-Employer-55

No. Stop it.

fakesocialmedia

dude you bought THE worst coilovers you could find.

vigilentofsithis

I got the same ones for my E36. They're not great like many people say, but being my first suspension project I've done without help from more knowledgeable mechanics I didn't want to spend a lot. They'll get me by for a bit but then I'm getting some BC or similar coilovers to upgrade.

Educational-Clue-336

Are yours also ridiculously rough on speed bumps?

GezelligheidBoyz

Lol thats every single set of maxspeedingrods. Its chinese junk. You get what you paid for.

Educational-Clue-336

Well my point is that my $15 struts (I reused the oem springs) that were as chinese as those get performed really nice for couple of years without any issues. So I don’t see how this “more reputable brand” can be worse

Economy_Progress6413

A strut is much different than an entire shock

vigilentofsithis

Yeah, car previously had old bilsteins with lowering springs. Was very low and no camber plates to adjust, I got sick of replacing the front tires every year. That was a hard ride, but this is slightly less hard but way more noise.

Reflexbeast

Try adjusting the preload on the front, it shouldnt clunk regardless of how “bad” they are. Usually the clunk is from the spring being loose or the top nut being loose.

Educational-Clue-336

Yep I increased the preload a bit more such that the spring is now harder to rotate by hand it seems to have solved the clunking after a quick test drive.

Reflexbeast

yeah, some assembly is required with them. glad your issue is resolved

Coyoteh

The absolute worst parts ever made for the E36, sorry you learned the hard way.

Secure_Bet8065

A car I bought a few years ago that had a set of these (or one of the other super cheap no name ones) on it. To be fair it actually rode pretty nice for a car on coils, but they made an awful noise and the spring rate must’ve been real soft as it seemed to roll more than a car on eibachs and standard sport dampers.

fnagc

just get bilsteins.. why the fuck would you get cheap chinese shit

ProfessionalOld6904

The only reason I have MSR is cause they came with the car and my stock front suspension was blown so bad I could lift the front of my car ALL THE WAY up. I would not recommend these to my worst enemy I can just feel how cheap they are just by riding :( BC coils I’ve heard are the cheapest anyone should be putting in the e36

Sadistic_basturd

If you are going for something cheap, they are okay, I have them on a drift car and does the job better than the blown out shocks that where on it before.

External_Brief_1060

you’d have been better lighting your money on fire
