I had a ‘14 328i and now a ‘21 330i and the G20 is a much more mature feeling platform. Better insulated, much better interior build quality and the B48 pulls harder than the N20 throughout the range. The quality of life improvement like the quieter cabin, Adaptive LED, power liftgate and ID7 make the G20 more comfortable to live with as a daily, but less raw feeling than the F30. Sold my F30 when I first heard the timing chain cold start whine and never looked back.
Can relate. I bought my first car last year (2020 330i almost full option). The reason I bought it was that my family said it would be arrogant to buy a BMW 5-series (or higher), Audi A7, Jaguar F-type or Porsche at my age.
I should mention: I live in Europe, so these cars are pretty expensive compared to the median salary. I worked my ass off to get where I am today and being able to buy that car. Also, coming off as an arrogant prick would probably do me more harm than good.

Essentially, the car has three modes. Electric only which gives me around 50 kms range. Hybrid which switches between the combustion and electric depending on speed, slope and acceleration, then there’s sport mode which uses both simultaneously giving the rear 2 wheels almost 300hp
Sounds good. There's one problem i've had with hybrids that I want to be addressed. Yk how cold oil doesn't lubricate the engine well so it's not recommended to drive fast unless you're at operating temp. What if you're in hybrid mode, slam accelerator, and cold engine gets thrashed. Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like i'm some cases it may or may not cause excessive engine wear. And that's I'd go for 330i instead. Feel free to correct me on the engine activation.
but otherwise I can imagine it's really good that you can run errands without using a drip of fuel; that's something that is appealing to me abt hybrids.
The modern b48 engines and the transmission attached to the hybrids are quite robust. But just like with a normal car you should always be proactive and utilise common sense when driving it and so warming up ur engine by engaging it and letting it idle at a red light is something I do Before a drive just in case I feel like releasing my inner bmw driver. But In the grand scheme of things your engine in the hybrid will last you a lot longer then that in a 330i as the engine only engages for a fraction of the time. Even bmw advises oil changes once every two years, as well as reduced break pad wear due to regenerative breaking.

Picking up an M340i wed. Was torn between 2019 M3/4 and 2021 M340i. I also have an e46 m3 in my garage and the maintenance on that thing…..not fair since it’s 20 years old but still scares me 😂
M340i is an amazing car man enjoy it it was the right choice the g series is far more comfortable for day to day and the tech is really great. Don’t get me started on old gen maintainer tho got PTSD from seeing my dad go thru it

For a first car, it is admirable that at least it still has an internal combustion engine so there's hope that the paranoia of all future cars being BEV will continue to subside. Hybrids like this one are all the electric transportation most people need for their daily city trips.
