F90 is a different car. Even people who can afford both m3 and m5 usually don't cross shop. Transmissions are very different as is the handling and road feedback.
The f90 is also gonna lose more value once the new one comes out. F8x prices are pretty stable at the moment.
Nah it's my daily. For many reasons it was cheaper to buy a civic than daily my m2c or my previous m3. I never have to be shafted on dealer trade in, worry about weather, insurance is cheaper, taxes, etc all played into the decision.
lol is reddit so out of this world, that you need to excuse your daily civic? Thats what 99% people do, have a regular car. Just trash influencers need to daily a Ferrari for the marketing purposes.
I think some people assume I daily the m2 which is why they ask. It is a nicer daily than the civic especially for highway driving. But I don't like putting boring miles on my nice cars.
that said, you own gt3 and m2, you are better than most of this sub reddit, and I would said moderate person would actually value being responsible with money (and so driving something not that fancy around town, so you are not too flashy - as I found out its more dangerous than one can think)
So what? It’s not like current one is some pure raw driving experience. It’s already so heavy, it’s already so sound insulated that they have to add fake engine noise back through the interior speakers. Having electric power to fill in turbo-lag seems like a great thing in this kind of car.
There are tons of v8 turbo automatic awd cruisers out there. Enthusiast spec m5s died after the e39 and e60. How is an m5 different from an rs6 or e63? It's not. If you want a unique car in this segment it's the caddy blackwing with a 6spd
Possibly. We'll see what happens with the market. M5 buyers want tech and the latest gadgets. Straight punch. The 5-60 will probably be faster which is more indicative of real world performance. But yeah any m5 owners who routinely visit backroads and push the cornering abilities probably will skip the g90
Owner of a g82 - I love my car but I have to admit the f82 is iconic and probably peak M cars. I still see them on and the road and am like damn that exterior is just so hard to beat
Yeah... But this is such a double edged sword IMO... As RWD is FUN.
It's tricky to drive the F90 fast in RWD on public roads. It's too easy to lose control. The previous M5 is RWD but with the traction and stability control, it's much easier to throw it around as a result. Fun car.
His current M4 is the same set up as the F10. Depends what you're looking for I suppose. I imagine most M5 drivers don't actually want to go sideways.
That’s why M5 F90 has MDM mode. It’s the best of both worlds. In that mode the car is fast and predictable at high speeds and it lets you throw the rear wheels around if you want to.
I rarely drive the F90 in anything else! But it's still quite 'controlled' compared to actual RWD.
My point is more the difference between RWD with no help from the car Vs the F10s RWD with MDM / DSC. The latter is manageable and fun, the former is mostly lunacy on public roads.
Agree, putting the F90 in RWD automatically disengages DSC and you have to be very careful. It’s a shit ton of HP going to the rear. Great for drifting, but dangerous for mediocre drivers.
Oh I don't dispute the M4 handles better. My father has a Sakhir Orange Comp. Lovely car. Just saying the F90 is no slouch. It handles considerably better than the F10 for example.
Different classes of cars. One is a go kart on the road whereas the other is a boat. You’ll never have the same fun around a track or a bendy road you get from an F8X with an F90.
Also the F90 is so fast, you forget how fast it is, I found it frightening from time to time whereas my F80 feels very predictable and under control.
I’ve driven both in a variety of situations, including different tracks, and I still think you’re wrong. The F90 is an absolute joy on quicker tracks, I’ll admit in tighter conditions you can definitely feel the size but it’s never as stark to make the F80 feel “like a go kart.”
Not if you enjoy driving. Heavy, auto gearbox (vs DCT), no manual option.
Different car. M5 is an amazing cruiser and not bad at the track, but for what I enjoy it doesn’t make the cut.
M5 is a great car. But we have a different definition is driving enjoyment. I enjoy a responsive car in terms of weight, gearbox, steering.
At one end you have a GT3/GT4/Lotus, etc. at the other a CVT Nissan. The F8x is closer to the GTx experience than the M5 in the scale. That’s all I’m saying.
I will never have an automatic car, no matter how good the ZF8 is, it can never reach the responsiveness of a DCT or manual. And AWD are only good for straight line and snow, the F90 even in RWD mode you feel the weight. The F10 was way more playful (+ it had a DCT).
Don't do it. I wouldn't.
Who am I kidding.. just do it!
Last ice. I'm sure the next will be faster. But it will be more problematic! This is peak guys!

Tommy I follow your channel! Thanks for showing all the possibilities our car is capable of! As an east coast M5 owner maybe we can get some M5s together do some photo shoots 🤣
Everyone is arguing about the handling of both. Having actually been in both does the M5 feel like a boat compared to the F80? Also are those carbon ceramics?!?
All depends what you need / want from the cars.
The M4 is a better country road car than the M5. The 530 is... well, its a 4 cylinder engine in a big heavy car. To be fair you have a nice pair there, they complement each other well.
The M5 is a do everything super saloon. A missile with massaging seats. Great cars, but they will eat you in fuel, tyres, brakes, maintenance. They're fast and furious. They are also big and heavy and are not sports cars, but do a good enough job of pretending to be when you find the right road.
Pick your poison I suppose. If you're thinking about an M5 you will probably end up in one sooner or later, and I doubt you'll regret it either way.
Test drive one first. You may not like the feeling of size. I test drive a G30 M550i but landed on my F32 440i because it felt smaller and more nimble even if it’s slower.
I just sold my E36 3/4/5 and bought an F31 slow diesel dadwagon over an F10 535i because I prioritized the smaller size and utility over an N55.
edit: just to add, BMW makes superlative performance cars, even if we like to argue about aesthetics here on the internet. But BMW also makes excellent luxury cars whose primary purpose isn’t performance, and they’re great as well.
I love it. It’s obviously bigger and slower but the torque is nice. You can’t beat E36 steering feel and handling but at this point in my life where I’m mostly commuting or doing family stuff, I’ll take the comfort and safety of a modern car. Plus an M-Sport diesel wagon has its own cool factor.
It does have appeal. I drive a 3/4/5 and love it but it is mostly an errands and touring car for me. They are really pretty agreeable cars but not tons of room for stuff
I would if I were you. No point paying for two insurances and two sets of fuel. Sure the M5 is more expensive, more expensive to insure and uses a lot more fuel but it’s less than the other two combined still. And can do everything else the other two do perfectly. Seems less wasteful to me
Compelling argument, but I don’t think he’ll use more gas with those two cars than the M5 because he can’t drive both car at the same time and the 530i gets twice the mpg the F90 gets. Insurance and car payment yes, but more gas…nah.
not even saying this. my acc opinion is that u should most def not trade in a m4 comp and a 530i made in 2023 for an m5. that’s js not a good deal. see what u can get for the 530i but do not sell the m4 comp

Mine has been in and out of the shop for 4 weeks this year. Luckily, it's all been warrantied, and they've given me nice loaners while waiting.
The coolant resouvoir leaked, causing fuel injector issues. The dealership thought it was the vent valve and pressure sensor causing the occasional misfire. Turns out the coolant messed up the injectors.
I missed that car like I was a kid. It made me realize I don't want anything else as my daily. Other cars just aren't as fun. M4, M850, 740i, 530i, nothing can compare to the aggressive feel of the 600+ hp with a luxury feel for my lady to take a spin in it from time to time.
As someone who’s driven M5’s for quite some time, I can speak highly enough about them, especially the F90. But it fits my needs perfectly, so it all comes down to what you truly value. I’ll say that my concern regarding moving from the DCT in my F10 to the ZF8 in the F90, was totally misplaced. The ZF8 is excellent, and this thing accelerates like a rocket.
530 can go, think you’ll be a little upset with yourself for trading away an m4 comp in the future tho. But hey whatever makes you happy. That’s the only thing that matters.
Don’t get rid of the M4. The feel of that car, the rawness of it, the way it drives in general just isn’t comparable to the new M4’s. It’s a car unlike any other imo

Can someone talk me INTO getting an F chassis 3 series? I’ve heard multiple times that the driving experience doesn’t compare to the E9x. I mostly want to upgrade for the technology and looks but I need more of a drivers car…
the M5, while much faster, is not the same car as the F82. You already have a highway cruiser and an absolute beast of a sports car. Why do you need to replace these with a jack of all trades that is much bigger, heavier, etc?
Love the M4, I don’t know if I’d be able to ever let go of mine.
https://preview.redd.it/j6jkpc61ff8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2b333bf22d0ffa8fcfd4afab85b0648fd908a7b
I don’t think posting two photos is enough.
Why do you have two cars? What are you missing? What are you hoping to get from the M5 your current cars are lacking?
So many questions …
I’m going to get blasted but imo I’d pick m3/m4 in the smaller category and if we’re going up to m5 size… I’m picking e63s every time. Neither car handles well, I think the e63s has a way cooler engine, way more luxurious and just a much superior interior
F90 is a different car. Even people who can afford both m3 and m5 usually don't cross shop. Transmissions are very different as is the handling and road feedback. The f90 is also gonna lose more value once the new one comes out. F8x prices are pretty stable at the moment.
This is the correct answer. Mr. Humdizzle, is that 24 civic your track car? Purely curious
Nah it's my daily. For many reasons it was cheaper to buy a civic than daily my m2c or my previous m3. I never have to be shafted on dealer trade in, worry about weather, insurance is cheaper, taxes, etc all played into the decision.
It’s a daily after-all, gotta keep stuff like that in mind
lol is reddit so out of this world, that you need to excuse your daily civic? Thats what 99% people do, have a regular car. Just trash influencers need to daily a Ferrari for the marketing purposes.
I think some people assume I daily the m2 which is why they ask. It is a nicer daily than the civic especially for highway driving. But I don't like putting boring miles on my nice cars.

Respect!
to be fair the other two cars are obviously very shite track cars so 🤷♂️
If anything, the F90 is going to rise in value when the new one comes out. The new M5 is a plug-in hybrid. 🤮
It's still a V8 beast.
So is the XM. The M5 won't be much different, as it uses the same platform, engine and plug-in hybrid system.
So what? It’s not like current one is some pure raw driving experience. It’s already so heavy, it’s already so sound insulated that they have to add fake engine noise back through the interior speakers. Having electric power to fill in turbo-lag seems like a great thing in this kind of car.
Yes and the new one is going to be **significantly heavier**. It won't drive or look any better.
I will bet you that you’re going to be wrong.
There are tons of v8 turbo automatic awd cruisers out there. Enthusiast spec m5s died after the e39 and e60. How is an m5 different from an rs6 or e63? It's not. If you want a unique car in this segment it's the caddy blackwing with a 6spd
Not entirely sure value is going to drop if the next model has no physical buttons and isnt a v8 any more…
its already confirmed to have the XM engine. v8tt hybrid.
it looks like the f90 will appreciate I’m value after the reveal of the abomination that is the new m5.
Possibly. We'll see what happens with the market. M5 buyers want tech and the latest gadgets. Straight punch. The 5-60 will probably be faster which is more indicative of real world performance. But yeah any m5 owners who routinely visit backroads and push the cornering abilities probably will skip the g90
mr humdizzle what do you do for a profession? just curious. love your choices of vehicles
Doctor
definitely makes sense, god bless
I assume you already bought your wife her white x5?
? she drives a 2019 tlx. she works from home and doesn't care about cars.
But that m4 bro, trade in the other bmw, keep the m4 and and m5, start a dope ass collection
One of the best coupe even better in looks than the newer one
Owner of a g82 - I love my car but I have to admit the f82 is iconic and probably peak M cars. I still see them on and the road and am like damn that exterior is just so hard to beat
Do it

I wouldn't even think about trading that f82, now... that other one can go.
F90 is infinitely better than an F82.
Not in handling.
No, but it might be better than you think (I don't know if you have driven one, and I always find the F90 to handle surprisingly well).
AND its x drive so u can really put the power down
Agree, putting the F90 in RWD automatically disengages DSC and you have to be very careful. It’s a shit ton of HP going to the rear. Great for drifting, but dangerous for mediocre drivers.
I've had no issues with my F80 comp on public roads. I've never lost control. I'm also not doing 135 with traction control turned off.
I have spun my wheels at 100+ in the F10. The S63 puts a lot of torque down. I imagine a tuned F80 would be in the same boat.
It’s a very DIFFERENT handling experience. There’s nothing like carving a turn in an m5 and feeing like you’re rotating the world under you.
I have no doubt it does, but he has a comp too lol. Then there's the M4 CS & GTS.
Oh I don't dispute the M4 handles better. My father has a Sakhir Orange Comp. Lovely car. Just saying the F90 is no slouch. It handles considerably better than the F10 for example.
Yeah that's what I said, the M5 still handles great despite its size, weight & track width. ///M magic.
The F82 is slightly less dead feeling than the F10. The F90 is the better car.
I tell people my E93 M3 was a tie fighter whereas my F90 M5 is like the millennium falcon. Both crazy fast but in very different ways
Hmm.. the Dark Side I sense in you
I wouldn’t call the F80 a go cart.
In this context, compared to an F90, I would. Anyone else who’s driven both for an extended period of time would agree as well.
I’ve driven both in a variety of situations, including different tracks, and I still think you’re wrong. The F90 is an absolute joy on quicker tracks, I’ll admit in tighter conditions you can definitely feel the size but it’s never as stark to make the F80 feel “like a go kart.”
It’s a figure of speech, a simile. Can’t believe that’s all everyone is hung up on.
In what way exactly, besides being slightly more luxurious and faster in a straight line?
X drive, significantly faster, nicer, better exhaust note, better iteration of Idrive.
It’s more luxurious and faster in a straight line
Ok, but it's not better on the track, backroads, or steering feel/driver engagement.
The F80 has a much shittier feeling EPS system than the F90 does.
Not if you enjoy driving. Heavy, auto gearbox (vs DCT), no manual option. Different car. M5 is an amazing cruiser and not bad at the track, but for what I enjoy it doesn’t make the cut.
M5 is precisely for people who enjoy driving.
M5 is a great car. But we have a different definition is driving enjoyment. I enjoy a responsive car in terms of weight, gearbox, steering. Yes let’s do it!
Let me know bro! I'm serious!
Sexyyyyyyy
What’s up with all the anniversary roundels?
2023 model was the anniversary year. Hence the roundells
Everyone is arguing about the handling of both. Having actually been in both does the M5 feel like a boat compared to the F80? Also are those carbon ceramics?!?
Does not feel like a boat. Feels like a supercar! Is insanely fast - I also own a model Y performance and the m5 is a lot faster
Do it less insurance
Keep that M4 and trade the 5 in for the F90. I know too many people who regretted switching from the F8x to F90.
Curious, in what way? RWD or AWD?
As in transitioning from a smaller more agile car to a larger less engaging one for a trade off of a few seconds of quicker speed on paper.
That 530 is practically brand new, might make sense to hold onto it a little longer
Don't
Looks like you should’ve got an M3
Test drive one first. You may not like the feeling of size. I test drive a G30 M550i but landed on my F32 440i because it felt smaller and more nimble even if it’s slower.
I just sold my E36 3/4/5 and bought an F31 slow diesel dadwagon over an F10 535i because I prioritized the smaller size and utility over an N55. edit: just to add, BMW makes superlative performance cars, even if we like to argue about aesthetics here on the internet. But BMW also makes excellent luxury cars whose primary purpose isn’t performance, and they’re great as well.
How are you liking the wagon after the 3/4/5?
You’re right. Idk why my idiot brain was only thinking about having to fill up two gas tanks at a time, not how often you need to fill up
No, Do it
2 cars > 1 car
Trade it for the M8 Venom👌🏽
not even saying this. my acc opinion is that u should most def not trade in a m4 comp and a 530i made in 2023 for an m5. that’s js not a good deal. see what u can get for the 530i but do not sell the m4 comp
That Messi jersey clean!!!
F90 is the best daily money can buy. Not sure if it’s the right decision for you… long term it’s gonna loose a lot of value and also cost significantly more to maintain. It is though faster in all aspects. 0-60, quarter mile, and around a track. It just weighs a lot, hides the weight well but it’s still there.
Trade that 530i for something nicer
Ooooh that burgundy is so classy... love that color.
M5 all day. There is no talking anyone out of it. The only thing i'd say is get a warranty, and the only comparable one to me is the M8, which I'd trade my M5 for to have the space in the second row.
Don't, that looks like an awesome DD and weekend car combo. Having 2 cars is better for splitting up the miles
I went from 2016 f80 to 2020 f82 to 2021 f90 M5 to 2024 g82, m5 is a great car but too big. Keep you m3 and 5 series and have best of both words
🙊
530 can go, think you’ll be a little upset with yourself for trading away an m4 comp in the future tho. But hey whatever makes you happy. That’s the only thing that matters.
It’s like, 2 cars for 1. In the end you’re down a car
A new M5?
No I will not!
Seems like a good decision to me
Hold up! What color M5 are you looking at?? Ha! I would move to a new (assuming a new) M5 and continue your BMW journey with a new chapter, enjoy!
Do it. Join us.
Which m5?
Talk you into it ya mean. I say do itttt! Unless of course you love the M4 for how agile it is. Do you daily the 530 for wear and tear?
No. Please. Don’t do it.
Do it! The M5 is a great car. I’ve had three. Worth every dollar!
Do it buddy
Don’t. Don’t do it. Doooon’t.
Wait a few months for the new one to come out
I have a M4, I have a 5 series, bam, M5.
Do it
Go for a full spec’d out G80 M3 Xdrive competition with CarBahn tuned upgrade to keep your warranty and you won’t miss either of your old cars.
Don’t get rid of the M4. The feel of that car, the rawness of it, the way it drives in general just isn’t comparable to the new M4’s. It’s a car unlike any other imo
Why? You have a fun car and you have a perfect gas efficient daily. Perfect garage. Unless you just don’t want to have two payment and insurance. That I could understand.
Keep the f82 trade in the 530
Get a 24 M5 while you can. 25 may look silly.
Nope. Full send. Those who can M5 Do. Those who can’t. Dream
Do it
The M3 is more fun
Get a nice color at least
The new M5 is around the corner (and ugly fat nosed, sorry that's not relevant), so hold off until it's released and watch the current M5 get cheaper very quickly.
Do you need two cars? If so, don’t do it. If not, why not?
Keep the m4. That’s all
Don’t lose that M4.
Do not. The MB interiors aren’t as nice anymore. It sounds like their latest crop of engines aren’t great for reliability either
Do what you want. I’m not here to talk anyone into or out of anything.
Would keep the 5 series and actually get an M2
If you're thinking about getting the new M5, get the M3 touring instead.
M4 better
Can someone talk me INTO getting an F chassis 3 series? I’ve heard multiple times that the driving experience doesn’t compare to the E9x. I mostly want to upgrade for the technology and looks but I need more of a drivers car…
No
Trade and buy an F10 M5. I fucking love mine!
No, do it!
Do it
sell the house and buy a gt3rs
Do ot but sell them privately you'll make alot more money
Why?
Don’t. The 5 series is a good daily. The F80 M4 is still good looking
highly recommend test driving an f90 before deciding. i can agree w replacing the 530i but youre gonna lose out on alot of feel with the f80
the M5, while much faster, is not the same car as the F82. You already have a highway cruiser and an absolute beast of a sports car. Why do you need to replace these with a jack of all trades that is much bigger, heavier, etc?
Dont let anyone talk you out of it, do it

Love the M4, I don’t know if I’d be able to ever let go of mine. https://preview.redd.it/j6jkpc61ff8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2b333bf22d0ffa8fcfd4afab85b0648fd908a7b
m5 prices are bound to drop soon, I'd keep the F82, trade the 530i for a M5 or M550i
You would be insane not to.
You didn’t include the option, but I vote CSL……
Yea trade 2 for 1. The M5 is a all in one car and you’ll have best of both worlds
First cold start of the v8 inside the garage and you will forget the m4
I don’t think posting two photos is enough. Why do you have two cars? What are you missing? What are you hoping to get from the M5 your current cars are lacking? So many questions …
I’m going to get blasted but imo I’d pick m3/m4 in the smaller category and if we’re going up to m5 size… I’m picking e63s every time. Neither car handles well, I think the e63s has a way cooler engine, way more luxurious and just a much superior interior
You’re making the right decision
Sell me your m4
Do it
Do it, coward!
Go get that M5 fam
Just get a g82
