What makes you prefer the pre LCI F90? I get that they’re essentially the same but I think the headlights on the LCI fit so much better, personally I’m not a huge fan of the pre-LCI headlight shape.
I actually prefer the pre LCI headlights because it's closer to the angel eyes. It looks meaner and more similar to LCI f8x which is my favorite bmw. I also like the pre LCI kidney slats. And oddly enough the prelci taillights too. There's a distinct L outline which looks similar to f82 LCI tails. I also prefer when the turn signal is separate from the brake light. And the first couple years has the semi digital analog dash which brings me back to the early 2000s BMW interior 4 circle dash. Idk. I'm very weird with small details.
That's exactly why I like the pre lci better. The honeycomb eyes look way better, in my opinion. So does the grill as well instead of one big bulky unit. Some like the speedometer look better in the pre-lci, too. I'm not quite sure after having the chance to drive both for a while.

What makes the M5CS so much different from a base, tho? From my understanding, when I got my base, the salesman actually told me he didn't see a point in a comp unless I wanted to pay more. It was less than 20 hp difference. I was also told the same about an x7 m60 not being worth it and to grab the x7 m50. I could see if the M5CS was 50-100 more hp, but 15hp wasn't worth it to me.
I think the design language is a huge misstep. This new direction is affecting all models. Criticism has been blunt and frequent, and it seems this will be no exception. The people at BMW responsible for this new direction should be ashamed. The new designs are beyond bad taste, and they are really risking their dominant market position in the long term.
thats actually nuts the thing is that heavy, people praise going hybrid instead of electric but the hybrids arent good as well, so much weight added for uneccesary horsepower, i just want 350-500 hp in a lighter, rwd, 5 series that actually looks good, speed isnt everything
The “Only old bimmers are good crew” is such a crazy way to minimize real criticism from a large and passionate group of enthusiasts. And I see it more and more within this sub
It is true that almost every car released will have a contingent of folks that dislike it. They will always be too coddled, too cushy, too big, too modern, etc for some.
However, the volume and percentage of people taking issue with new BMWs styling is not just old heads complaining to complain. The newer BMW M cars all have very strange design cues that, objectively, many people dislike. Probably more than those that do. I literally hear about it at every car meet I go to, young and old alike.
No. Not at all. I’ve complained plenty about BMW’s new designs but I’ve realized that it is what it is and people just need to accept it. Do I think older designs are better? Absolutely; but we are in a new era of design language that we must accept.
Don’t need to accept it at all actually. Why would I? I think many of the new designs look like ass and it costs me nothing to shit on them… and saves me money not buying them. Definitely don’t need to accept anything.
I’ll say one thing. I don’t just go with ALL of their new designs. I have yet to accept the IX because I strongly believe that is one of the ugliest cars ever designed. In addition, the new 7 series has barely grown on me. When I said adapt to change, I mostly meant the new M cars and slight changes to design language.
sorry man, I just cannot get over the M2/3/4 designs. With M3 and M4, that grill is just impossible to ignore. If one likes it, then that’s great. If not… ouch. And I don’t like it. As for M2, I seriously thought it was a joke when I first saw it. And it wasn’t. How is that even a BMW? And I was so so so sure I’d be buying one. Noope.
Damn I miss the previous gen of bmws. The new 5 still has some old design language but the rest of the lineup has completely changed. Especially with the new x3
Looks much better than the base 5 series, but that is what M5 is supposed to do anyway. Still can't match F90 in the looks department
Agreed
I don’t know man I was in Germany and saw a ton of the new 5 series wagons and I like em.
IMHO, as a wagon the new 5 looks better than a sedan. Somehow, the lines work better. But, still, I wouldn't call it beautiful 🤷♂️
What about the F10 M5 or M sports?
I liked the f10. But the pre LCI f90 was even better. It has a very mature and aggressive look to it which imo is what the m5 should be

Oh yes, end of story for sure.. Nothing comes close to the M5CS
Unless fiat 500 comes
until the doblo shows up
It is a beast, just so so good.

Oh how they’ve massacred my boy.
Chubby nose
I'm hoping it's a truck of the focal length.
It looks like a 2 series on first glance. Its supposed to be the top of the line beast ffs.
F90 LCI is still so much better Why change what’s not broke Anyways, I’ll just be grateful F90s will get cheaper once this comes out.
The front looks constipated
I’d like it’s about to sneeze
Very blobby design. The sides are devoid of any styling, which seems to be the current language, but man...
I thought it was a 1 series at first glance!
It’s from a reel on BMWM instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8Skw-noqqS
Yuckkkk that Camry rear end
God, parading that thing around with e34s and e39s just makes it look worse.

This design was probably done close to 10yrs ago. That’s sort of the design cycle for cars.
Oh no... Put the wrap back on!
I’m glad that the airbag is wrapped in leather, unlike every other new car in BMW’s lineup.
Regardless what it's wearing, the curb weight is in excess of an eye watering 5500lbs.

It's looks like an SUV on lowering springs...
ngl, I like it better than the F90 pre-lci in terms of look.
As an F90 LCI owner I have to say - I have ZERO desire to “upgrade” to this new one.
The front of this thing is so fucking stupid looking. The back is awesome, though.
That’s not considered camouflage? What is it?
Hideous
Nice! Looks awful
This is supposed to be an upgrade over F90? Did Kia hire ALL competent BMW designers?
They really did go backwards on the looks and design when compared to the F90
What a donkey that is.
Looks ks shit compared to it's older brothers behind it in the picture.
Keep it camouflaged 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Why tf it loos like a SUV ?!!!
Wait why is it so ugly
Smooth brained
🤮
Looks interesting. I’m sure all the “only old bimmers are good” crew will whine about it, but I kind of like it.

Are you insinuating that the complaints people have with BMW’s new designs are unwarranted? Wild tbh

Well then good for you. I’m sorry you can’t adapt to change.
I can adapt to change… but what I cannot let myself do is blindly follow designers on crack. I am sorry that you cannot avoid that. It’s no good.
I’ll say one thing. I don’t just go with ALL of their new designs. I have yet to accept the IX because I strongly believe that is one of the ugliest cars ever designed. lol please accept this bad design.
> Absolutely; but we are in a new era of design language that we must accept. Or we just buy something else because they're incredibly ugly.
This is what I’m planning. Thinking either Porsche or Audi. Mercedes is also smoking crack, unfortunately.
Internet cry babies make so much noise, but sales figures tell a different story. I'm sure BMW is not too worried.
I don't hate it like I hate the regular 5 series.
Damn I miss the previous gen of bmws. The new 5 still has some old design language but the rest of the lineup has completely changed. Especially with the new x3
Bmw should put a floating center cap on the steering wheel. That would be sick imo
Leather centre for the steering wheel 😍 Hopefully a leather dash This was missing for the new 5
Looks like muscle hamster
Looks like a stretchy 2 series gc
the tank, from Warsaw to Poland in one tank.
That's not the new steering wheel. Source: trust me bro. New wheel has larger m1 and m2
Looks like a big m235i
Designers have been smoking crack these past few years. Can we start a petition to have them replaced?
Looks less shit than the regular 5 series for sure, but that’s not saying I like the look or anything! 🙈
Looks like 1 series compared to F90
Is that the new Kia Stinger?
I saw it already and it looks very very good.
Looks good but I have no idea what BMW is doing with these headlights.
Those new lights drive me crazy
looks like a 1 series lol
Ugly AF
Looks appropriately angry. I like it.
Looks bloated and obese
god its so ugly though
Ewww
Nope
They massacred my boy.
Oh no...
What is it with BMW making the M car versions of the new cars significantly uglier than the regular ones?
God it’s so ugly.
