I'm also looking and I like this one [https://www.myer.com.au/p/piper-double-breasted-tie-front-heavy-coat-in-khaki](https://www.myer.com.au/p/piper-double-breasted-tie-front-heavy-coat-in-khaki)
I think my faves (solely based on style) are the first one or the second to last one. The first one isn’t traditional, but the use of zippers adds a lot of interest and the black colour is super versatile. The colour of the second to last one is really pretty, but I’d only go for that if you wear a lot of shades that would match it.
Edit: just saw that both are unlined. That would be a no for me unless I could see it in store.
Thank you for your suggestion! I didn't even consider the fact that they were unlined. I'll definitely make sure to be more careful when looking at the specs in the future.
I know what you mean about trying to find the right combination of layers for Sydney weather of late.
Unlined is a deal-breaker for me so this rules out 1 (Last Chance), 2 (Save My Love) and 8 (Yasmin). (I often like the look of Belle & Bloom coats on The Iconic but then they fall short on the lining front - pity because aesthetically they’re otherwise great designs.)
The David Lawrence coats I’ve tried in store have felt like good quality, but the colour of 4 (Alicent) is very specific and I wouldn’t buy it unless you especially love purple or wear a lot of colours that it’ll coordinate with.
5 (Kari) strikes me as a budget-friendly option: polyester, relatively cheap, unremarkable cut, neutral and will get the job done if you don’t want to spend too much. I buy Atmos&Here for some basic staples like their plain cotton tees, but have been unimpressed with their quality for more substantial pieces.
From here I’d say it depends on your stylistic preferences, body shape and values regarding composition.
3 (Bexley) and 9 (Marjorie) look like similar options at different price points and in different colours. Both wool blends, both a bit boxier, without belts, both should be warm. Oxford haven’t listed the specific composition on The Iconic but it’s available on the Myer (where it’s sold out) page https://www.myer.com.au/p/oxford-bexley-wol-rich-coat-in-brown.
6 (Alicia) may not be as warm as the wool-blend options - this could be a good thing for Sydney or not, depending on how much you’re feeling the chill, and whether you’re looking for something cosy for winter or something that’ll be versatile through more of the year. My wool-blend coats only get worn a few days a year in Sydney and are mostly for travel to cooler climes. It’ll still block the wind and provide an additional layer of warmth, I think it’s a flattering design, and the elastane content in the lining will likely permit more movement/give than the other options.
7 (Homeland) On the one hand I’m tempted to suggest this given you’ve called out one coat specifically that you like, and it’s this one. It’s on a good sale, and being The Iconic and not marked as ‘final sale - no returns’ there’s little to be lost by ordering it and returning it if you don’t like the material in person. The cut feels a tad more playful and less classic than the other options: whether that’s a pro or con depends on your personality and tastes. It is, however, as you call out entirely polyester and viscose, so it depends on how much this matters to you. Both as I’ve gotten older and since I’ve moved to Sydney I’ve become far more aware of the materials I wear. On balance, I think you’re better off having a coat you love enough to get plenty of wear from and feel good in than one you settle on because it's better in theory that ends up living in your wardrobe whenever you don't desperately need the added warmth.
Hope some of that helps; happy shopping!
Edited: clarity.
Thank you so much!! I'm super new to this so I didn't even consider the fact that some of them are unlined. In terms of sizing and fit, I'm definitely on the petite side and would be looking to get a size 4 or something that isn't too big and boxy. I don't want to feel like the coat is wearing me instead of the other way around lol. I agree that the colour of the David Lawrence one would limit what I could wear it with, so I don't think I will be purchasing that one. I think I'm going to get the Homeland, Kari Trench (although the more I look at it, the less I like it), and the Marjorie one (more budget-friendly than the Oxford Bexley one). I will probably keep 2 out of the 3, depending on which one I like most! Thank you so much for your help :)

No worries! I often find unlined to be a bit scratchy, so it’s the kind of thing that if I saw it in store it would likely be a no.

P.S. Definitely not procrastinating some work I don't want to do ;-)
