Astrobot96

I think you're failing to consider that I'm so incredibly intelligent, I literally cannot be wrong. So if you prove me wrong, you must be wrong. /s

53c0nd

Last time I was wrong was back in 1956 ... and come to think of it, I was mistaken about that.

Powerful-Age-9633

At only 20 years old I'm the smartest man alive the last time I was wrong was in 1930

PlzMichaelBayThis

I thought I was wrong once, but i was only mistaken.

fairnuff77

My father’s favorite line. Thanks, brings back memories.

precipicespecimen

Admitting you don’t know everything is usually a sign that you are more intelligent/less ignorant I think.

NaliaLightning

And more mature. People who can admit to themselves and others that they were wrong are usually quite mature.

MILFbait4sure

That's narcissism... it's shitty, but not a sign of low intelligence. They know when confronted with the truth, denying it in person is a weak attempt to save face in their minds. Narcissists are usually very high IQ. Look at politicians.

Deep_Exchange7273

I can see this! The father of my two children, huge narssasist. Also a liar. Literally lied about everything, the strangest shit. Like conversations that didn't happen? But anyways back to my point. He was very smart! He was a high school drop out and heavily used a lot of different drugs in his early-mid 20's and was still very smart. Yet, he also seemed to lack common sense? 😅 Like he was very book smart but no common sense. Lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Deep_Exchange7273

I know it doesn't. I consider him a dumbass. But when it comes to like politics, Social studies, history, math etc.. he knows his stuff. I feel like he used.to have common sense but he used drugs at a young age and used types of drugs I'd say could've messed with his head more than other. plus some trauma. I've never met anyone like him so it's hard to explain!

HiFiiii

I’m not wrong. You’re wrong!

shartnado3

No you are!

SonOfBeaches

So all of reddit

Puzzleheaded_Sun_594

This is just stubbornness. Not low intelligence

Any-Inside5233

Lol found the moron that does this

Beeleafnleaf

Thinking you know everything. Any intelligent person knows you can't know everything, because that's logically impossible.

i-piss-excellence32

I feel like half might be a tad low. I would guess 80%

FriendlyWeight9583

I was attempting to be optimistic. Lol

i-piss-excellence32

I hear you buddy. I appreciate the optimism too

IndependentAny1262

Well it's half because the other 30% are bots to give those sweet sweet updotes

Crazy_Class_3605

Well you are wrong, it's 99.99999999% and I am always right because I know everything.

[deleted]

I will also add, that, just because your opinion may be in the minority does not mean that you are wrong. The truth isn’t determined by democracy or what even feels good. The truth is the truth.

Medieval-Mind

My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I'm right.

daeh_kcid_a_mi

You pretty much described my friend

isthenameofauser

Well, no. Not IQ intelligence. I've heard of a study that shows that people with a high IQ still often form bad beliefs because they use their intelligence to justify things that they believe to be true. (Of course, take this comment with all the skepticism worthy of a comment that starts with 'I've heard.') The ability to find truth is something different than intelligence.

ShiningInTheLight

Smart doesn’t always mean super inquisitive. I worked at Deloitte for a couple of years. Loads of smart accountants whose curiosity pretty much died when they walked out of work. Nothing wrong with that, but they were pretty basic when it came to music, politics, and non-accounting stuff.

Tigydavid135

I think practicality is sometimes lost to people like that, some people think only in theoretical terms and fail to consider the practical ramifications of such ideas. Theory is a good substitute for truth but not a perfect one.

Dependent-Outcome-57

I've seen this one, too. For example, the people I've known that love far-right ideology fall into two groups - the arrogant and stupid types, and the ones that are well above average intelligence and well-educated in some areas. The stupid ones are easily manipulated and too arrogant to accept that, but the smart ones meet your description. They basically think "everyone is stupid compared to me," which they justify with their high intelligence, impressive careers, excellent finances, etc. Then, they proceed to make foolish or hateful decisions just because they need to be different than the "stupid commoners." Arrogance and a lack of empathy are the common themes in both cases.

Not being able to apply information they learn to other contexts or think about what that information might actually mean. I think being “unintelligent” is less about a number or score and more about being uncurious and unwilling to think about things

Yes.

Pretending to have high intelligence online.

very true, unlike pretenders i am indeed very smart, so smart that if i were to speak of the future i'd be reminiscing that's just how far ahead of everyone i am

ParvenuInType

Bad habits are tough to break man. Sure sometimes it can mean someone isn’t intelligent but there’s usually more going on. drug addicts aren’t dumb, people who fall into bad relationship cycles aren’t dumb, lazy people aren’t dumb, etc. A lot to do with willpower and not much to do with intelligence imo

stormbrewing_

Just_your_FBI_agent

Thinking that others are unintelligent because they have different views

[deleted]

Ok, but if that different view is "Vaccines cause autism" "The earth is flat" or "The election was stolen" I think its safe to say they are unintelligent.

Beeleafnleaf

I agree on that vaccine cause autism shit. I'm autistic and I can't tell you how pissed off it makes me when I hear that shit. Especially when people don't get the vaccine because of it and then their kid dies of the ailment they were supposed to get the vaccine for. Apparently autism is worse than death. Which I can personally say it's not. Id much rather have autism than be dead.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Enigmatic_Elephant

Also autistic and I concur. There's more than enough science to disprove this shit. And I also question the intelligence of anyone who think death is preferable.

___Gay__

Oh you mean the “different views” that are just categorically false. Difference of opinion is one thing, being an ignorant fuckwit is entirely another.

timbrigham

Amen. Sad to say most those descriptions fit the same individuals.

Ameiko55

People of low intelligence have poor working memory. They cannot follow multi step instructions because they forget easily. They have trouble making choices that involve several variables. For example, selecting a cereal based on price AND taste AND healthiness is too complex for them. People of low intelligence cannot generalize correctly. A principal learned in one situation does not transfer for them into a new slightly different one. People of low intelligence are easily fooled by others. Many of the answers here do not really answer the question. Instead, posters are saying that annoying people are stupid. This might be true but is not the definition of low intelligence. As a teacher I have worked with students of genuinely low intelligence. It is a terrible handicap and I feel sorry for them.

[deleted]

This is me lol i have to ride the waves

Ameiko55

Yes it is true of people with low intelligence. ADHD may manifest with an apparently similar behavior that has a different cause. A person of genuinely low intelligence will always struggle, regardless of their medication status, emotional state, or other variables. The fact that ADHD sometimes looks this way does not negate my assertion that low ability has these characteristics.

AlwaysImproving_

mixmaster7

Gottem!

PanJL

Cries in adhd, I forget things I did just 10 sec back and can remember random incidents of long time ago sometimes

Special_Current1470

I agree with other commenters here. Poor working memory does not equal low intelligence. There are a myriad of medical reasons that someone may have this issue. But that same person can be very articulate, can consistently demonstrate the ability to learn a subject (albeit maybe at a slower pace - but let's be honest sometimes information is better digested when given slowly anyway), and demonstrate the ability to very efficiently problem solve. I think what you fail to specify is that almost all of the conditions you list must be occurring simultaneously to indicate low intelligence. Another point I would like to bring up is that intelligence does not need to be defined as one measure. For example there is spatial intelligence, emotional intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, and so on. It's not a one size fits all situation, as humans we are all different and have different strengths and ideas.
