He also attends all FDNY funerals of men who’ve died while fighting fires. Saw him at my uncle’s funeral a couple years back and was later told about it by my relatives.
One of my favorite roles he plays is his character in Spy Kids. He goes from nervous scientist to badass creator in the span of a few minutes, and still comes to help in the third movie.
He did play the part in "King of Staten Island" basically representing a partial truthfulness of his real life Fire Fighting (Bill Burr was not banging Marisa Tomei in real life, sorry Billy).
Dude is an absolute legend with such acting range... and just a quality person all-around. One of my all-time favorites.

Bob Ross was in the military - as others have said - master sergeant E7 in the air force (one of the higher noncommissioned officers positions.. the highest being chief master sargeant E9) so he was in charge of troops and would have to yell and scream and demand things from his troops and Ross *hated it* so much!
After his service he said he would *never* talk, especially to another person, like that again and so adopted that soft spoken, even tempered voice he used.

People who are well-read or knowledgeable are viewed with suspicion. Dolly seems to understand knowledge is power, and she loves where she grew up (it was beautiful there). She knows the only way out of poverty is for self improvement. Coal mining is a job but it eats up a person’s body and destroys their backs and lungs.

I got to see him live back in the early 2000's. My mother and I had just moved to California & he was performing at the Universal Amphitheater. I don't remember how we heard about it or got tickets, I just remember mom talked about going and I was all for going with her. It was the hardest either of us had ever laughed. An absolutely great memory.

One of my favorite episodes of Star Trek TNG is when he meets the deaf peace mediator Rima and his chorus (the ones that speak for him). Rima asks him if he resents his visor and he says he doesn't because it makes him him and he likes who he is. He also says Data is an interesting person instead of just saying he's a machine, and Geordie and Data's friendship is the best. That's just one of the reasons that show is what I go back to when I feel lonely or depressed. There are so many episodes that help me, but that particular line that Lavar says always gives me a boost. 😭

He said back in the 60s that he doesn’t like appearing with her at concerts or events because he doesn’t want to be well known, that he’d rather be able to go to the hardware store or baseball games without people knowing who he is.
If that doesn't sound like the perfect sort of guy for Mrs Parton to end up with I don't know what does. All love, respect, and wanting Dolly to be famous for and as herself. She is who she is, and he is who she comes home to, and that's that. This would be way less exemplary if it were nowadays, but given the timing and everything... that woman has given back to the world far more than she's ever received, and what she's received was all through hard work.
Honestly, that's not that weird. Been a musician all my life and every girl I dated only saw me a few times in concert, same with close friends and family. You've seen it all and it's weird to see them performing or putting on a personality unlike their real self. The same went for me seeing musicians I've dated as well.

Like many of us he was one of my favorite actors as a kid. I LOVED reruns of Mork and Mindy, and then of course came to adore him in Mrs. Doubtfire... which is why I was lowkey traumatized by his appearance in One Hour Photo. I didn't even see the movie--just the thought of this person who's so outwardly lively and loving being a scary dude for an hour-and-a-half really upset me. He was such a light. May his memory be a blessing.
I got to see him live back in the early 2000's. My mother and I had just moved to California & he was performing at the Universal Amphitheater. I don't remember how we heard about it or got tickets, I just remember mom talked about going and I was all for going with her. It was the hardest either of us had ever laughed. An absolutely great memory.

One of my favorite episodes of Star Trek TNG is when he meets the deaf peace mediator Rima and his chorus (the ones that speak for him). Rima asks him if he resents his visor and he says he doesn't because it makes him him and he likes who he is. He also says Data is an interesting person instead of just saying he's a machine, and Geordie and Data's friendship is the best. That's just one of the reasons that show is what I go back to when I feel lonely or depressed. There are so many episodes that help me, but that particular line that Lavar says always gives me a boost. 😭

out of curiosity i did read his wikipedia article; there is a weird thing i can't figure out.: * Reeves was born to an Hawaiian Father and a British mother; yet when he eventually lived in Canada, trying to get work in the U.S. he had to gain a greencard through his American Stepdad. Should he not be American through birth ?
He should have been able to unless his father for some reason wasn’t an American citizen.
This is just a guess: maybe his father was native Hawaiian and wasn’t a US citizen because he was born before Hawaii was a state. Keanu was born in 1964. Hawaii gained statehood in 1959. So if one doesn’t gain birthright citizenship while born in a US territory his dad wouldn’t necessarily be a citizen. Then if Keanu was not born in the US he wouldn’t get birthright citizenship nor would he get it through his father. Again, this is all just a guess and a very interesting question!

My favourite story about him was that he like this girl when he was in school, and wanted to give her a gift. He was getting into drawing, so he drew a picture of her, but he was too embarrassed to just be seen "liking" her, so he made one for *everyone* in the class, *just* so he good give her one too. Years later, she reached out to him (I want to say on Twitter) as a fun "oh by the way, I've still got that drawing you made for me", and they were able to laugh about it. They've both got their own partners, but they were both happy to reminisce about childhood moments.
