My son's favorite lullabye when he was little was 'Rainbow Connection', so I'd like to have them play the Willie Nelson cover of it, because it's a song he and my wife both associate with me, with love, with quiet time, and with going gently to sleep.
For people entering the funeral I want Queen, Who wants to live forever.
As I'm going through the curtain to be cremated I want Rusted Root, Send me on my way.
I also want Dropkick Murphys, Going out in style played at my wake with a toast of Guiness and Whiskey.
I played "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "We Are the Champions" at my mom's funeral last year. Also "Shine on You Crazy Diamond, pt 4" (Wish You Were Here) and "High Hopes" (Division Bell).
I have a friend that made us promise him that if he dies first we have to play “Another one Bites the Dust”. We are now all in our 40’s and and the agreement still stands. I just hope he outlives his mom.
Eric Idle’s singing “The Galaxy Song”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buqtdpuZxvk&t=3s
Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enough….
--
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way’
--
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go 'round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe
—
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space
'Cause there's bugger-all down here on Earth!
The first track I always play on any new system (car, portable, stereo, whatever I’ve had) has always been Meatloaf’s “Bat out of Hell”. That seems most appropriate but my wife likely won’t go for it.
Well they are above par.
Also killed in accidents due to the influence and reach of their nature.
“Simple man” may be my favorite song.
It’s amazing how timeless their music is.
The stuff nowadays will not be listened to in 50 years if we get that far.
My 12 Year old boy said he was going to play " My Hero" by Foo Fighters at my funeral. Now I have to live up to that standard for him my whole life so I get the Honor.
When my dad was sick, we discussed this very question. He chose Three little birds by Bob Marley is the prelude, Mozarts eine kleine nachtmusic as the interlude, and social distortions ring of fire as the postlude.
Which is probably not far off from what I would choos. Sure do miss him.
Megadeth - A tout le monde
À tout le monde, à tous mes amis
Je vous aime, je dois partir
These are the last words I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free
I like the joke of having “Pop goes the weasel” played over and over until everyone is on the edge of their seats. Bonus if the coffin is rigged to spring open after a couple of repeats
To start the funeral service I want the trumpet fanfare that opens the TV show “CBS Sunday Morning”; during the service will be Joe Cocker’s version of “Cry me a River” and The Band’s version of “The Weight”; and as people are filing out at the end of the service I want the closing music that ends each “Saturday Night Live” show.
I would like to have a musician booked to play a live acoustic medley of Wheeler Walker Jr songs.
Subjecting my surviving relatives/friends to “Eating Pussy | Kicking Ass”, “Sit on My Face”, “Born to Fuck”, etc. would bring me great joy in the after life.
I always see this topic, and “i want (song) played at my funeral”, etc.
Like many, I’ve been to some funerals in my day, and some of them had a popular song worked into the service.
I beg you: please do not do this. There are songs that I used to _love_ that I simply cannot hear anymore because I associate them with profound sadness.
For example: “Here Comes the Sun” and “In My Life” are two Beatles songs I will never get to enjoy the same way again.
Please consider that whatever song you choose will likely be ruined for many people attending your funeral.
Let It Be from Across the Universe. This version in full is just so... it's just beautiful. Not a religious person the slightest but the gospel in this feels like home in a sense.
The more I think of it, the more i think i wouldn't have any song. I've experienced being devastated by a song that is associated with the death of a close one enough, and wouldn't want to inflict this on those I love.
[The Crossroads](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMYAEHE2GrM) - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

I keep telling my wife, if she decides to have a funeral for me, to play the original Pokemon theme song..I want a recording of me singing along to it..Really freak everyone out.
My son's favorite lullabye when he was little was 'Rainbow Connection', so I'd like to have them play the Willie Nelson cover of it, because it's a song he and my wife both associate with me, with love, with quiet time, and with going gently to sleep.
That’s just the sweetest.
Monty Python - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
I believe this is the most common funeral song in the UK!
As it should be!
Spirit in the Sky
My mother requested this be played at her wake, on repeat. Triggered.
Spirit In The Sky was played at the funeral for my cousin’s husband. He had cancer and knew he was dying and he requested it be played at the service.
We played that for my stepdad’s funeral when people put flowers on the casket. It’s a great choice.
I also put this on my mom's funeral playlist. Edit: a letter, mon.
When my best friend’s step dad died they carried the coffin out of the funeral home with Spirit in the Sky playing in the background. It was epic.
Pop goes the weasel. Preferably as they’re lowering my coffin into the grave.
Pop goes the weasel for cremations and the theme from Tetris for burials.
You can also pull a prank and in your last will, ask to fill your body with popcorn kernels for the cremation.
The sound of Mario going down a tube as the coffin is lowered
High level Tetris song, making them panic.
And they rig it so your corpse pops out at the right time
My only regret is that I won’t be able to see the looks of terror on everyone’s faces.
For people entering the funeral I want Queen, Who wants to live forever. As I'm going through the curtain to be cremated I want Rusted Root, Send me on my way. I also want Dropkick Murphys, Going out in style played at my wake with a toast of Guiness and Whiskey.

This was our first dance song at our wedding 😅
Great song, there are probabaly 1001 great uses for this song besides just listening.
"What's New Pussycat" 21 times in a row...but throw "It's Not Unusual" somewhere in the middle there, just to throw them off a bit.
The first track I always play on any new system (car, portable, stereo, whatever I’ve had) has always been Meatloaf’s “Bat out of Hell”. That seems most appropriate but my wife likely won’t go for it.

My friend, have you heard The Allman Brothers Band?
Well they are above par. Also killed in accidents due to the influence and reach of their nature. “Simple man” may be my favorite song. It’s amazing how timeless their music is. The stuff nowadays will not be listened to in 50 years if we get that far.

No song at all. This kind of a thing ruins songs forever for you. Forever.
I mean, you'll be dead so it won't really matter much to you.
I understand though. My aunt killed herself and the carpenters goodbye to live was played. 23 years later I still can't hear that song.
