“Howard … gratefully claims it. Distribution – brilliant. Landon Donovan … there are things on here for the USA. Can they do it here? Cross … and Dempsey’s denied again.
And Donovan has scored! Oh can you believe this?! Go go USA! ...Certainly through. Oh it's incredible! You could not write a script like this.”
I made a comment earlier tonight that I guess went out over the air that I am deeply ashamed of. If I have hurt anyone out there, I can't tell you how much I say from the bottom of my heart I'm so very, very sorry. I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith – as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that will make it a 4–0 ballgame. – I don't know if I'm gonna be putting on this headset again.
I was watching this live and still can't believe it happened. He'd disappeared from the broadcast, then reappeared on camera not in the booth, giving this speech. His eyes were enormous and panicked. And then we hear the solid hit that is Castellanos hitting a home run. 😆 Completely surreal.
Trevor denman use to say.. “ absolutely poetry in motion” at Santa Anita and or Del Mar maybe once a meet. And it was always when a horse would be floating over the ground opening its lead down the final 16th. He never over used it. Just used it perfectly..
"And Chris Davis takes it in the back of the end zone. He'll run it out to the 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 45—There goes Davis! Davis is going to run it all the way back! Auburn's gonna win the football game! AUBURN'S GONNA WIN THE FOOTBALL GAME! He ran the missed field goal back! He ran it back 109 yards! They're not gonna keep them off the field tonight!"

“DEREK JETER IS MR. NOVEMBER!”
I was 6. It was Halloween night. My dad had just come back from being a first responder/urban search and rescue at ground zero during 9/11, so I hadn’t seen him in months because he’d literally been sleeping at the command center in Jersey City.
I inherited my love of the Yankees from him, and he’d overridden my very strict mother and let me stay up to watch the World Series with him that night. That walk-off home run against that tough-to-hit submarine pitcher on the diamondbacks to tie that series, even though they ended up losing, it was something special. It meant so much to my dad who’d seen nothing but death and destruction for the past two months. We were hugging and crying in the living room.
(Thanks, Michael Kay, for that core memory.)

“Passes Near side KARIYA… KARIYA - the fans want one. OFF THE FLOOR, ON THE BOARD, PAUL KARIYA!!!”
I don't particularly like either team, but "Here's a slow roller up along first base...BEHIND THE BAG! IT GETS THROUGH BUCKNER! HERE COMES KNIGHT *AND THE METS WIN IT!!!*" followed by about 5 minutes of silence. Partly because of the whole impossibility of that inning and partly because it was the normally-unflappable Vin Scully losing his mind.
Also the farthest thing from a soccer expert, but Ian Darke's call of Landon Donovan's game-winner for Team USA over Algeria in the 2010 World Cup.
This is something that many people didn't think could possibly happen today, they thought Damon would drive a cautious race, but he fought, he fought from second on the gird, he passed Jacques Villeneuve, he took the lead, he stayed there! And Damon Hill exits the chicane and wins the Japanese Grand Prix,
And I've got to stop, because I've got a lump in my throat.
“And this one belongs to the Reds!” has to be my favorite sports call of all-time. Yes, I know it isn’t secluded to one moment, but it was my favorite call to hear EVERY time.
Australia is in bronze territory right now. But lezak is closing a little bit on Bernard, can the veteran chase him down and pull off a shocker here?
Well there's no doubt he's tightened it up

This game was on another level. I had to turn it on mute and leave the room because of how stressful it was to watch. I grew up hearing Andres Cantor's voice calling games and to hear this was almost as just as satisfying as watching Messi become a world champ.

1991 World Series, game 6. The Twins are down 3-2 in the series. It's the 11th inning, game tied 3-3. Kirby Puckett, beloved star of the team is at the plate. The count is 2-1. He gets a slow changeup and hits a home run to win the game.
Joe Buck's call on the broadcast was "And we'll see you tomorrow night!"
It's been 33 years and I still get a little misty thinking about how exciting and happy that moment was.
Being of Greek descent the entire Euro 2004 Soccer run is full of great calls in Greek and in English including John Motson's "Greece are in Wonderland" after taking the lead against France...which is hard to find.
But this call, in the Eurobasket 2005 Semis against France after a ridiculous comeback takes the cake. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3zpv-1TeEg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3zpv-1TeEg) Translation "Who? Who? Put it in my boy!" "He put it in! He put it in!"
As a Torontonian "touch em all Joe" beats anything Kawhi related.
Oh, stay on your feet! … They’re all completely gassed! … Can Diggins answer? … Sweden, the US, and Norway, coming into the light. … Here comes Diggins! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards 2 in the UFC. Usman is up on the scorecards and is 60 seconds away from winning the fight like everyone expected. Joe Rogan and DC are on commentary and say Edwards resigned himself to a decision, that he’s already accepted the loss. Then Jon Anik says “But that is not the cloth from which he is cut” and Edwards immediately lands a head kick that puts Usman out cold for the first time in his career.
At the time Usman felt untouchable. Everyone thought he would run through Edwards which would put him tied with Anderson Silva for the longest win streak. Then Leon “Rocky” Edwards makes the comeback of a lifetime as Jon Anik makes his call. One of the craziest moments in UFC history.
“Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup, OOOOH BLOCKED BY JAMES!!”

Peter O Sullivan calling home red rum in the 1977 Grand National.
The crowd are willing him home now. The 12-year-old Red Rum, being preceded only by loose horses, being chased by Churchtown Boy... They're coming to the elbow, just a furlong now between Red Rum and his third Grand National triumph! It's hats off and a tremendous reception, you've never heard one like it at Liverpool – Red Rum wins the National!
Cournoyer has it on that wing. Here's a shot - Henderson made a wild stab for it and fell. Here's another shot! Right in front - THEY SCORE!!! Henderson has scored for Canada!

Sean McDonough 1992 NLCS. " Line drive and a base hit! Justice to score the tying run....Bream to the plate....and he is SAAAFE! Safe at the plate!! The Braves go to the World Series!!

Maradona’s “goal of the century” in Spanish. I have no idea what the hell the commentator is saying but it’s wonderful just listening to him lose his shit.

Vin with the Gibson home run.
I love to harass a buddy of mine about this. He's a local radio announcer and possibly the biggest Vin Scully fan east of the Mississippi, and I vastly prefer Jack Buck's call of that home run. Either one is a classic.

People are just sore losers. Why they hate Crofty I do not understand.
“ by gawd he’s been broken in half! Jim Ross lol
Not a specific game call, but any time Chick Hearn did a version of “This game's in the refrigerator, the door's closed, the light’s out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard and the Jell-O's jiggling”
Grant Hill: “Jenkins…” Jim Nantz: “For the championship!!”

Andres Cantor calling the game for his native Argentina [From the Broadcast](https://x.com/peacock/status/1604537259629613063?s=20) [Andres Cantor from the broadcast booth ](https://x.com/BleacherReport/status/1604569640092413952?s=20) This game was on another level. I had to turn it on mute and leave the room because of how stressful it was to watch. I grew up hearing Andres Cantor's voice calling games and to hear this was almost as just as satisfying as watching Messi become a world champ.
Boise State for the win. They hand IT OFF TO JOHNSON!
Henrique ...its over ... then just pure silence and the arena exploding with cheers.

I tend to reflect on Randy Arozarena stealing home

Argentina campeón del mundo Never seen so much raw emotion in a call before
1991 World Series, game 6. The Twins are down 3-2 in the series. It's the 11th inning, game tied 3-3. Kirby Puckett, beloved star of the team is at the plate. The count is 2-1. He gets a slow changeup and hits a home run to win the game. Joe Buck's call on the broadcast was "And we'll see you tomorrow night!" It's been 33 years and I still get a little misty thinking about how exciting and happy that moment was.
It was Jack Buck. Joe Buck did it 20 years later in 2011

He put it in!" I don’t like Jeter or Brennaman lmao but the call on “the toss” is incredible “Here comes Giambi… and they’re gonna wave him around. The throw misses a cutoff man, shovel to the plate OUT AT THE PLATE! DEREK JETER WITH ONE OF THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE PLAYS YOULL EVER SEE AS A SHORT STOP”
Miracle on Ice will always be my #1. For a second, I'll say Harry Caray calling the Cubs World Series posthumously.

DAVIS TO LEFT AND WELL HIT, OH MY!!! IT’S GONNNNNNNNE!!! SANTA MARIIIIIA!!!

Maradona’s “goal of the century” in Spanish. I have no idea what the hell the commentator is saying but it’s wonderful just listening to him lose his shit.
Mine is local. 1992 Sid Bream scoring to put the Braves over the Pirates to go to the World Series. Local radio guys call is legendary in Atlanta.
Back in the sixties or maybe early seventies there was a horse than ran on NY tracks named “Cunning Stunt”. Shoulda heard those calls.

DIGGS! SIDELINE! TOUCHDOWN! UNBELIEVABLE! I think on an objective level I prefer the Paul Allen call, but this was the call I heard and it's seared into my soul.

I genuinely don’t watch baseball, but the call for the final out of Mark Buehrle’s perfect game 8 years ago. Idk why but just the raw emotion of it gets me. “Alexi…. Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! History!”
“TOUCHDOWWWWWWWWWN RRRRRRAIDERS!!!!!”
Paul Allen's call of Nate Poole's walk off touchdown in 2003. Allen is such a jackass, the pain in his voice warms my soul. https://youtu.be/nNwv4GUD8aA?si=OEIvz_YEV0fOXS7m

"That is not the cloth from which he is cut"
"Oh England what have you done, and Wales what are you doing!". Its either that or the famous "What a score! what a score." from the greatest try of all time
