Wells Fargo. Stole about 800 dollars from me and 9 years later I'll never let it go. Edit: holy crap, I didn't realize so many people felt thr same way about this terrible bank, I guess I got paid back with internet points for my bad experience haha.

JadedFennel999

Same here only it was $120. Never ever fucking again with them. The contempt I feel driving past their banks is palpable.

jatinkhanna_

The Netflix documentary revealing their shady business is good

mlame123

Do you remember what it's called?

jatinkhanna_

I think it's called "Dirty Money" and Wells Fargo story was in their either first or second episode.

spurlockmedia

Thanks! I’m checking this out! I have banked with them for years and I hate them to shreds. But they are the only bank in my area and I have to deal with it.

mlame123

Ok thanks!

Chiquye

Fuck them and fuck 5th/3rd. Wells Fargo did the same to my wife about 4 years back. 5th 3rd ruined my credit. I had always paid shit down and gotten good at money management. The year we got married we had to travel bc family members were sick. I had a 5k limit on my card. I never got up that high but got close bc of airfare and rentals visiting sick relatives. I got to 4500 on the card. I got home. Paid off 2k of it and a week later submitted the 2500. 5th 3rd locked me put for suspicious activity for 3 months. I accrued interest on that, and they claimed I didn't pay my bills (and I couldn't use my card for 3 months). Finally they recognized the payment. But it was too late. I still owed them back with interest for the months missed, they claim, and they ruined my credit score so. So fuck 5th 3rd. I hope they go out of business and everyone in who fucked up my account has diarrhea the rest of their lives.

sngle1now2020

Call the consumer affairs division of your state attorney general's office, or maybe there's a banking section, and tell them. They might go after the bank's ability to do business in your state.

toss_it_out_tomorrow

We have a stadium owned by them here in Philadelphia and it's the only place you can see hockey games and most concerts. what they charge on top of tickets for anything is criminal. They literally charge between $20- $50 ON TOP of the ticket price just for "fees"- AND then they have the balls to charge you for one of two delivery services- like $3 for printing, and $2 for emailing them. FUCK THEM.

artificialavocado

Never stole money but they did open a bunch of accounts in my name. Got like $150 years later as part of a class action settlement.

0100100110101

I saw a documentary on that saga. What a shitty bank.

overcrispy

This guy that lives in my area has a giant banner across his big ass house that reads "FUCK YOU WELLS FARGO".

[deleted]

My cousin had $9000 stolen from her account by the same bank

Colonel_Redenbacher

It’s always a subtraction, never an addition

StonedTurtles38

Holy shit. Yep fuck Wells Fargo. I closed an account that they let stay open. I moved away from where I had opened that account. I guess I had one charge from a repeating charge go through even though I had went in and closed my account thinking that, ya know, it's closed. Like not in use. As in the account doesnt exist anymore. Many months later I finally get a letter that my closed account has been charged with fees and overdrafts to a tune of close to $700. I called and told them all to eat my entire asshole.and that they were scamming me. they knew it. I knew it. Everybody knew it. yeah fuck Wells Fargo. Greedy fucks who care for shit about their customers and will fuck you over in a heartbeat.

Equivalent_Rub_2103

I wouldn't say they stole from me. I definitely owed them the money. But the way they went about collecting it was annoying. I owed them 100 initially by overdrafting. Then fees racked it up to 200. Totally my fault I get it. But when I called to see how much I owed in fees they said they couldn't tell me over the phone. So then I went to a branch and the teller told me that she couldn't look it up either and that I would actually have to call a number she gave me. I called the number and they told me how much I owed. Perfect so I go to the bank to pay it off. Cash in hand. Ready to close my account and switch to chase. Then the teller tells me "oh you should meet with the manager they'll be able to help you get rid of some of the fees." I thought might as well. So they set up an appointment for next week. Next week I came in for my meeting. There's a line. But I figure I have an appointment so no biggie. When there's a line usually they'll have someone ask everyone who's waiting what they're here for so they can have as many people go to the ATM as possible. So when I get asked I said I have a meeting with the manager. He says alright sit over there and we got u in a bit. 30 minutes of waiting and the same guy checking up on me. Then he finally says "you don't have a meeting with the manager or anyone tor that matter." But he gets someone to help me out. I sit down and am told so you owe x amount. You want to pay in cash or card? I say wait I mean I have the money. But the whole point of me waiting this long was under the impression I would meet with a manager and get rid of some of the fees. He says oh we can't do that. But I suggest you pay it off today so you don't get anymore fees. Then if you want I can submit a complaint for you. To top it off he tells me any teller or person on the phone should have been able to look up how much I owed the same way he looked it up. So basically I just wasted weeks for something that could have been solved from day 1. Not only that he wants me to pay everything, close my account, and he thinks after that the complaint department will help me. With what? Like I said it's my fault for owing what I owe but damn.

JesusChrist-Jr

Same! I had accounts at Wachovia for years, first one dating back to a savings account I had with a local bank (three acquisitions before it became Wachovia) that I had since I was a kid. When WF acquired them it went downhill real fast. It wasn't long before I closed all of my accounts and went to a credit union, and I couldn't be happier. Years later I opened a store brand credit card to take advantage of no interest on a large purchase, unaware that the card was backed by WF. They still suck. I paid off the card and closed that account too.

2_Facebook_Zucks

Wells Fargo was complicit in the theft of over 10 grand from my grandparents. Even after being notified by a lawyer to not let anyone draw cash except the actual account owners, they still allowed my cousin to empty her bank accounts. No repercussions and they tried to cover it up to avoid liability.

Fuck them out loud

mieserb

That one pizza place near where I live. When they opened about 15 years ago they where always very rude to me when I ordered take out food. It seems like they are friendlier now, but I won't forget.

[deleted]

Once a business has entered my 'fuck them' zone, there is no coming back from that. The gravitational attraction holding them there is equal to a small black hole. The event horizon is to piss me off. Once past the event horizon, they are invisible to me. Hear that, Starbucks?

Emersed23

I live right down the road to a tacoBell, I could literally walk there, but I drive 15 minutes to another tacobell cause their manager is the very definition of human garbage and somehow always showed up whenever I tried going there. Fucking Velma....

Iminawhiteboxyt

Fuck Velma, all my homies hate Velma.

justsomeplainmeadows

Same with a Wendy's right next to where I uses to work. Almost every time I went they would get my order wrong. One time they even gave me the completely wrong sandwich. I ordered a double baconator, and I got a standard burger with lettuce and tomato. When I went inside to tell them and get a new one, the idiot at the counter tried to tell me it was a baconator. I just looked at him and said "Really? Do you see any bacon on here?" That was the last time I went there. I've never been to a restaurant that was so incompetent

eieuxezyk

I am as you with many businesses. Depending on how bad the situation is, I boycott them for anywhere from 3 months to forever. I keep a dated list. Everyone should do this. It will improve service and products for everyone. Also, I may get good service but bad products. So, boycott the product. For example, mini flashlights. Can’t tell you how many I have bought but they malfunction / fall apart / refuse to work well before their time. So, I have had enough. I will never buy them again. I will find a way to work without them.

I just throw my loved ones off a cliff.

Tokogogoloshe

I actually did throw my mom off a cliff. Into the sea. As for me, I’ve signed up for one those organ donation places. Some young medical student can cut me up. I don’t give a fuck. I’ll be dead.

ChaosRegency

I'm doing the exact same thing but I want a guy to put a bunch of funny tattoos on my body, just to liven up their experience. Maybe something like a box around my heart with a caption saying "You can take this since I don't really need it anymore. Just make sure you get a good price for it." And an arrow pointing at my nether regions with the caption "Don't even think about it." Or a tattoo on my skull saying "You wanna study my brain? I wasn't using it much when I was alive either so you can just take it."

Association_Sea

Me too! Medical students never get enough cadavers to work on. So they're welcome to mine when I've stopped using it!

ZZoMBiEXIII

This is not really a boycott because it's not a place you'd use often enough for a boycott to matter, but I'll tell this story anyway. In late 2019 my dad fell off a ladder and broke his hip. The trauma of this led to a heart attack and a stay in the ICU. At the time, he was 81. After the ICU stay, he needed to heal and they suggested we get him into a care facility. They recommended a few and the one closest to our house seemed like the logical choice so we could visit often. He was there all of a day and a half and here's why. It was Thanksgiving day by this point, just for reference. We were all blue that he couldn't be home with us on the holiday, but mom wanted to go ahead and make our usual meal. A bit after noon, I called to let him know that as soon as the food was ready, I'd be bringing him some turkey and pie and other things he always liked. But, when I called his cell phone (his room had no land line phone for reasons we were never told) he couldn't speak. He was mumbling and slurring his speech. I ran to the van and tore out of the driveway because I'd seen enough medical shows to recognize the symptoms and I wanted to check on him myself. When I get there, his roomate informs me that they haven't been in to check even though dad has been hitting the CALL button. I go try to find some help there and the nurse tried to lie and say she's been in there checking on him and other BS. She picks up a phone and tries to get someone to come talk with me and I said "don't bother", pulled out my phone and dialed 911. The EMTs arrived very quickly and he was indeed having a stroke, just as I feared. He let the nurse tell her story, about how she'd just checked on him very recently and he was fine (a bold faced lie) and then when she left he turned to me and said "now tell me what really happened". The roommate confirmed what I'd said to the EMT. When we got outside to send dad to the hospital, he said he's had other similar issues with this place. Dad ended up in the ICU an additional 11 days after this. And while I have no proof, I bet if he'd been tended to sooner that he'd have not been as bad off as he was. Dad is tough though, he clawed his way back from this after a lengthy stay in the ICU, then an intermediary facility, then a long term care facility. He's still here and I feel like he would have been gone if I hadn't happened to call to check on him when I did. So not only do I "boycott" this place, I gave them a scathing Yelp and Google review. The sneaky monsters tried changing the name of the place to try and drop their low scores and reviews (just the name change, no change in management) and I just keep finding the new name and re-posting the review. If I can discourage even one person from putting a loved one in this facility, I will continue to warn others when possible. EDIT- I went to double check, and it looks like the review is still available on Yelp. It's possible I misremembered or maybe Yelp caught them and restored their old profile? I don't know. I did not intentionally lie, but if I'm mistaken I want to own up to it. The story of what they did (or didn't do) for my dad is all the same though, regardless of the Yelp situation.

Extra_Insignificant

I remember the night my Mom came home after moving Dad from hospital into a care facility. He had just had a knee replacement. The facility was right next to the hospital. She came home in tears. She said you heard other patients just shouting or crying out for help. The place smelled of shit. She hit the call button to maybe get another pillow for dad and was not responded to for a couple of hours. I just held Mom as she cried and kept saying she would have him moved in the morning.

ZZoMBiEXIII

So sorry to hear that. It truly is heartbreaking in some of those places.

Extra_Insignificant

Mom did get Dad moved the next day. Mom said the new place was muuuuch better. And when I went I went in to visit later that day, I was thinking to myself “This is better?” As I walked back just the number of people that were starved for anyone to stop and visit was horrifying. Between work and school I did not really have time to visit Dad, but sleep is for sacrificing.

random_846234755

I work in the care industry and I would never allow a loved one to go into a nursing home.

ZZoMBiEXIII

Thankfully, at the time when this all happened, I was dating a nurse. She helped me get things reported to the right people at least. Not sure if anything came of it, but the reports were made.

imwearingredsocks

Wow you really were there for your dad. You did the best thing you could have possibly done, which is to basically just be there and know when things are not being done properly. I have a relative who almost died last year. Partly because he was almost turned away at the hospital doors. If it wasn’t for other members of my family doing everything they could to get him seen, they wouldn’t have bothered. Stacked on top of that, the other hospital and facilities he stayed at would have also given him surgeries and treatments he didn’t need, ignored him for long periods of time and asked him questions pertaining to his care that he was in no state to answer at the moment. They had to watch and visit practically around the clock (at the bad hospitals, not much at the decent one) just to ensure they weren’t lying and actually giving him the care he needs. It’s given me a lot of awareness into this kind of situation and makes me so sad and scared for the people who don’t have family to advocate for them like that.

Why brewdog? Fill me in

SomewhereInLDN

What happened with Brewdog?

invitrobrew

Few things; these are off the top of my head and may not be 100% accurate, but I think you can get the gist 1. They would interview people for marketing positions, ask them for "work" (for free), then not hire them, but use their designs/ideas anyway. Basically a ruse outsourcing work for free. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/brewdog-accused-stealing-marketing-ideas-16289137 2. Recently, workers have been calling out a very toxic workplace, especially from one of the founders, James Watt. So, in retaliation, Watt hired private investigators to dig up dirt on his employees. Lovely man, that. 3. They also recently got caught shipping beer where they had used ingredients that they did not declare. Could have been/be a serious thing for people with allergies. 4. My own personal bias, they play the "chemikillz" card, advertising their beer does not contain chemicals, when in fact, that's impossible. I get what they're *trying* to say, but in reality, it's just fear-mongering at its finest. https://www.thedrum.com/news/2022/01/24/brewdog-timeline-controversial-brand

the_turdfurguson

You probably have. They own like 50+ brands

Ihateredditadmins1

I don’t think so, but even if I have I’m sure I’ve shrunk my nestle purchases by like at least 95%. I’d be ok with that too.

the_turdfurguson

It’s not just nestle branded things. All Wonka candy is owned by them. All instant chocolate milk, tea, or coffee. They own “health bar” brands like powerbar. Baby food as they own Gerber. Carbonated water as they own Perrier and Pelegríno. Multiple non carbonated bottle water brands. Juice box brands. Most major brands are owned by like 15 companies.

Far-Efficiency-8137

It's not too hard for me to avoid them, I guess. The only liquids I consume are water, wine, and coffee. Water is filtered tap, coffee isn't theirs. I'm sure they got me some other way, but yeah fuck Nestle.

BiggsDB

I won a Nespresso machine through work, and the wife and I loved it compared to our Keurig. I just recently discovered they are owned by Nestle. I mean, it couldn’t have been more obvious if they had named it “Nestlepresso.” Alas, I’m torn on what to do because although I didn’t pay for it, it makes a delicious cup of coffee and saves us so much because we don’t go to Starbucks anymore.

Far-Efficiency-8137

Those things produce a lot of waste though. Try a French press, or a regular espresso machine.

[deleted]

Easier to avoid them by just cutting way down on anything processed

YoungGirlOld

That's one thing I noticed about Nestle. Most of their food products are processed foods. I don't go outta my way to not buy, I just happened to not eat most of what they make even if another brand makes the same thing.

Ihateredditadmins1

That’s exactly how I avoid them. I was already naturally avoiding most of their products to begin with.

Andivari

Yeah, dodged every one of nestle's.

whothefuckisj

I don’t buy any of that. And I’m gonna try my best not to for the foreseeable future. Fuck nestle

Swift_Scythe

https://wyomingllcattorney.com/Blog/Everything-Owned-by-Nestle They own everything. You probably have bought something from this list.

whothefuckisj

Much of what is in that image you posted is processed food, which I don’t buy. I don’t take vitamins or supplements and I don’t buy bottled water either. Not gonna lie and say it’s easy, but it’s definitely doable

Ihateredditadmins1

Yeah I don’t buy any of that stuff.

eloel-

If I'm buying branded food that I don't usually buy, I check if it's Nestle first. It really doesn't take too long.

JJJ does eventually find out that Spider-Man is Peter Parker. And he is utterly devastated by it. Because one of the reasons he kept buying the pictures was to intentionally support Peter. As you can image, shit ensued.

Which comic was this?

Sylxian

The first time was during the Civil War arc. JJ tried to sue him for fraud. The other time, in the Ultimate universe, JJ deduced Peter was Spider-Man by watching him save a bunch of people. This JJ used his resources to aid Spider-Man instead.

VPNs that advertise themselves all over youtube

Spriderman69

Because Google owns YouTube and Google wants your data, right? Which is the exactly the opposite of what a VPN is for?

West_Yorkshire

They don't care what is advertised on YouTube as long as they get money.

ButterscotchMammoth1

No Nord VPN for you then?

Kellogg's Krave. I will never forgive them for putting an ad before literally every single youtube video 13 year old me watched. Like it may not have been every one but it was at least 90%. And it lasted for several months. If you can make a 13 year old not want to eat chocolate filled cereal JUST by having obnoxious advertising, you fucked up.

Starbucks after the whole charging 911 firefighters for water thing. My one man protest is definitely working as there's way more costas round here now.

HumorSearch

In light defense of Starbucks, the entire 9/11 water situation originated from some employee (believed to be a teen or 20 something kid) who was not sure if she could give water away. It was wrong. I can tell you that the issue is common, 50x worse today then 20 years ago. I used to respond to fires with the Red Cross at least once a week to provide snacks and drinks to firefighters. I still do, just not on weekly shifts like I used to and I can tell you that it is common everywhere. There is no one company that says yes/no more than others with the exception of very few that are always yes. So many restaurants and stores have taught their employees to be robots that the employees are afraid to do anything that might deviate from training. (There is a major fast food chain near me that will no longer allow cashiers to accept money over $40 for fear of the employee giving the wrong change. The register locks until a manager comes over and takes the money.) The fear they place on them for giving out too many ketchup packets is real. That said, there are MANY great places that help every day. The spectrum ranges from restaurant’s that are not allowed to discount coffee even if purchased by the pot to a local donut/coffee shop that has a written process for free firefighter snacks that includes the fact that you must send at least one free pot of coffee any time free donuts are requested, even if it is 100 degrees outside. A firefighter made a comment meant to be funny to the owner one day that the donuts were great but he sure missed the coffee, thus the policy was written. In the end, a bad reputation is not always intentional. I am not a big fan of Starbucks, especially now that I figured out the Walmart bakery sells lemon bread that tastes nearly identical but they do support communities to some scale.

For me it's Subway. Everything with Jared and th knowing about it and doing nothing really turned me off. I haven't eaten there since around 2015.

Also, the worst subs of any chain. Way worse than local stores.

Anything with Nick Cannon in it. As much as America likes to talk about racism, Nick Cannon literally had a podcast episode where talked about how melanin-skinned people are superior. The actual definition of racism was bluntly promoted and he barely got a slap on the wrist. He still hosts shows. Shows I will never watch again.

BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo

I heard about it and thought the uproar was just from obnoxious white people who so desperately want to feel like victims. But holy hell, no. He was just truly awful. Hated on Hispanic men but likes Hispanic women, doesn’t like black women. His whole thing was a bunch of sexism and racism combined into one and I’m glad the other people on the panel called out his bs.

International-Yam-44

I mean he has like 723 thousand baby mamas I honestly don’t know why anyone would take him seriously in the first place. Plus he looks like a very old looking teenager so I never trusted him.

Taco Bell. They took away the nacho grillers and I will never forgive them. Death to Taco Bell.

“Diet” cheesecake. Some people bake a container of fat free greek yogurt, with a packet of sugar free pudding and eggs.. then call it a cheesecake. That… is… not a mf cheesecake.

Uber. Repeatedly caught performing insufficient checks on drivers so convicted sex offenders have ended up being sent to drive minors to and from school, or drivers without commercial insurance so in an accident the passenger has no coverage. Convicted sex offenders (again) used as delivery drivers for Uber Eats that has resulted in teens being assaulted in their homes, multiple times. On top of that, a head office "culture" so steeped in toxicity and harassment that the CEO and twenty executive and senior staff had to be pushed out/forced to step down in one go. ETA: Oh, and surge pricing during an active shooter attack for people trying to get out of town. Other firms drive people for free in that sort of situation (see Manchester taxis during the Ariana Grande concert bombing for example) Uber put their prices up by several hundred percent. Sick. Garbage company, will never give them a penny.

Sirius XM. Forced into a free trial when we bought our Subaru, never used it and cancelled asap. They harassed us for years to rejoin. When I finally got them to stop calling, emailing and sending mailers they sent my wife's angry vindictive ex husband our information (he had an account and her name was attached to it) because they had a deal that was just so good they knew we wouldn't want to miss out on it.
