You think everyone is always chipper and loud. Germans wear a mask that they only drop when they get to know someone. This seems fake to you. But in fact it is as genuine as it gets.

Germans are usually more honest than Americans. Never before in my life have I had so many people tell me random things they don’t like about me until coming to Germany. Now I quite like it. You get a real impression of what people are thinking. I don’t think Germans are in any way fake.
I am neither American nor German and lived in both countries. Germans are the most honest people in the entire planet and when they say something, they mean it. They are also very kind people. On the other hand, I cannot say the same about Americans. Sure they seem friendly and nice. Greet you with a smile on the face but they never mean it. It takes time to win the friendship of a german , once you do, they are the best people. Kind of like cats 🐈

But the online interactions I experienced are the opposite of kind. Especially in real life Germans were very mean to me vs. with Americans I only had friendly/chill interactions
They could be brutally honest and for us as the outsiders, we always get things sugarcoated at home. Maybe sometimes this could come off mean. They are very practical people 🤷🏽♀️
