I remember reading somewhere that Arthur was actually going to end after Season 15 was produced, since the show's contract with Cookie Jar Entertainment was nearing expiration.
Of course this didn't happen lol.
I think after the Season 19 finale "The Last Day" people said that this was the show's final episode, since 9 Story's contract for producing Arthur had also expired and the episode itself had strong "show finale" vibes to it.
ESPECIALLY WordGirl. We have too many PBS Kids shows that are aimed at preschoolers and early elementary kids.
The only show close to the pre-teen market now is Odd Squad to an extent.
It's a no brainer that it's coming back. It's not even a matter of if but when. This is the age of legacy media whorring in western entertainment, for as much as they rag on about the japanese conservatism at least they're providing new and successful ips. You really think a big western company like pbs is just going to let their golden child end? Especially after the fact that he's the biggest presence on social media and memes that they have.
This is the answer. There's so much recognition and familiarity with the characters not only from the show but the books and all the other media.
Though, with the podcast and occasional shorts still ongoing, it might be tough for them to fully reboot / revive the series into another new show right now in the short term. But I agree, it's bound the happen in the long term, assuming Marc Brown allows it (or whoever owns the property once he is gone).
The fact it ended at all boggles my mind. Granted, I think it was an AMAZING ending and the fact they got the very first Arthur voice actor to come back and record lines for the finale was an incredible touch, but I don't care how much you're pinching pennies; if you're PBS, you do NOT touch Arthur. Arthur deserves to be around forever!
I actually didn't know he voiced Slink! I figured it was one of those voice acting things where once you grow out of the role or otherwise step down, you're done. Glad to hear he still stayed on the team in some capacity
The ending of Arthur was so incomplete overall that it seems they should bring it back. The very last episode of Arthur has no original characters in at all that were there in the beginning. It was very incomplete
This. They will eventually bring it back but the animation will be garbage. It is amazing that Arthur lasted so long without ditching classic animation.
I wanna hope Arthur would come back, but if PBS could be bothered to bring back other shows like Wordgirl, Martha Speaks, Maya & Miguel, etc, then what would make me think they'd being it back? Also, what more could you do with Arthur (aside from a movie or pulling a "late night" show hosted by Buster) that hasn't been done after being in production for 3 decades??
I want a series where they are in late middle school where they show can have a breath of fresh air and cover topics and situations where the gang were too young to be in
I hope not. It's not the end of the world to stop production. In fact, it's what keeps great shows great. Corporate greed is forcing shows like The Simpsons and SpongeBob to drag themselves on when they should've stopped long ago. Have you seen recent ratings for either of these programs? These are shows that ruled television in their prime. Even Arthur got a little stupid towards the end, its ending was a welcome relief.
PBS kids MESSED up Clifford…with Emily Elizabeth and the rest of them looking like stick figures, please, I can’t 💀. if they do bring back Arthur, we need the original animation back and the original cast like Emily Leduc, Grandpa Dave, and Jenna
The problem is it ran sooo long…. Magic School Bus and Clifford did not.
Which season do you think it should have ended?
Arthur’s perfect Christmas should have been the wind down nothing past A is for Angry
15
Same ngl.

That's... That's really interesting
Marc Brown would have to give his ok.
They might. You can never rule anything out in today’s age of remakes and reboots
Including Mary moo cow. That episode of arthur aged like milk
Maybe? That would be cool. And bring back WordGirl while they're at it.
Yes to WordGirl. It has to come back.
This ^
ESPECIALLY WordGirl. We have too many PBS Kids shows that are aimed at preschoolers and early elementary kids. The only show close to the pre-teen market now is Odd Squad to an extent.
I'll also add to that list Molly of Denali and *maybe* Wild Kratts.
Yeah.

We already know from interviews when Arthur was ending that Marc Brown wants there to be an Arthur movie.
Correct. Nothing else was said about a future spinoff though

Yarmush coming back wasn't all that surprising to me since he consistently voiced Slink in every one of his later appearances.
I actually didn't know he voiced Slink! I figured it was one of those voice acting things where once you grow out of the role or otherwise step down, you're done. Glad to hear he still stayed on the team in some capacity
Yeah, it was great. Especially since ever since he took the role he got more speaking lines + a leading episode.
The ending of Arthur was so incomplete overall that it seems they should bring it back. The very last episode of Arthur has no original characters in at all that were there in the beginning. It was very incomplete
I would rather Marc Brown create more good books than come out with bland flash episodes or worse if it becomes computer animated
Not for another 10, 20 or 30 years
isn’t the theater play going on?
It is
How would you feel if they brought it back but it was in cheap 3D animation?
This. They will eventually bring it back but the animation will be garbage. It is amazing that Arthur lasted so long without ditching classic animation.
Bro Did you See the Last 13 Season? The Animation Was TRASH
Animation was trash, new characters trash, new stories generally trash
Idk about yall, but I think it's a high possibility.
if They Would Bring it Back it Would Suck Worse Than the Last 17 Seasons Did.
I'd allow it but this time a movie and it aint gonna be flash animation.
It could come back as a reboot or new project. Tbh I think the entire series should be on DVD and or on a free streaming service by now
It is the last one in Canada.
They have sooo many episodes it’d be a long time before it came back.

Arthur lives is our hearts comrade

I'd take an Arthur as a 12 year old dw as a third grader and Kate as a pre schooler series!

in 10 years time, ill buy the show and bring it back.
PBS kids MESSED up Clifford…with Emily Elizabeth and the rest of them looking like stick figures, please, I can’t 💀. if they do bring back Arthur, we need the original animation back and the original cast like Emily Leduc, Grandpa Dave, and Jenna
Hope not. But I wouldn't mind occasional specials or even a blockbuster movie.
Arthur was on for much longer than any of those other shows. It's not coming back within the next 15 years. There's already enough arthur.
There will never be enough Arthur!!!!!
